- DIE SAND-DOLLAR-COTTAGE -
Von den 26 charmanten Duplex-Cottages in der umzäunten Mokuleia Beach Colony stehen nur fünf tatsächlich dem Ozean gegenüber; und das ist einer von ihnen! Sie werden vom Geräusch der Wellen geweckt, sitzen auf Ihrer offenen Veranda und sehen nichts außer Aquamarinwasser und Morgenhimmel. Das Meer ist direkt vor Ihnen, nur wenige Schritte entfernt. Dieser Strandbungalow wurde in den 1960er Jahren entworfen und von einem in Hawaii geborenen Künstler gestaltet, dessen Gemälde des Mokuleia-Ozeans, des Himmels und der Landschaft an den Wänden hängen.
- DER STRAND -
Das Sand-Dollar-Cottage bietet einen atemberaubenden Blick auf einen Strand, der sich kilometerweit in beide Richtungen erstreckt. Ideal zum Schwimmen, Wandern und Schnorcheln im Korallenriff. Sie sehen selten jemanden und haben Tag und Nacht warmes Wasser!
- DIE NACHBARSCHAFT -
Eine zwölfminütige Fahrt entlang einer Landstraße bringt Sie in die berühmte Surfstadt Haleiwa. Hier können Sie in einem der vielen Restaurants speisen und Kleidung, Kunst aus der Region, Eis und frischen Fisch, Steaks und Produkte kaufen. Die Kolonie hat einen schönen Pool für Gäste und fünf Minuten die Straße hinauf in Richtung Ka'ena Point. Dort gibt es Kitesurfen und Fallschirmspringen.
- VON DEN EIGENTÜMERN -
Das Haus hat mehr Stammgäste als alle anderen in unserem Inventar, aber nach Jahren mit 5-Sterne-Bewertungen hat es kürzlich kritische Bewertungen erhalten. Die Eigentümer haben sich diese zu Herzen genommen und alle Instandhaltungsprobleme im Haus angesprochen. Nachfolgend ein Wort von den Eigentümern:

Aloha an alle unsere langjährigen Gäste. Wir wollten Sie wissen lassen, dass wir im März ein paar Wochen damit verbracht haben, 13B zu renovieren und zu restaurieren. Es brauchte es. Sie finden eine neue Küche: Theken, Schränke, Spüle, Wasserhahn und einen neuen Glasofen. Wir haben auch das Gerät lackiert, eine neue, höhere Eitelkeit, eine Spüle und einen Wasserhahn sowie eine neue Außenbeleuchtung eingebaut. Wir haben alle Lamellen und Jalousien, die es brauchten, restauriert und sogar ein leistungsfähigeres Modem für besseres WLAN hinzugefügt. Wir haben den Meerblick und die Sonnenuntergänge in Ruhe gelassen, da niemand das verbessern konnte.

In den Kolonien von Mokuleia Beach ist Rauchen strengstens verboten, sowohl drinnen als auch draußen. Der Staat Hawaii verbietet das Rauchen in öffentlichen Parks und an allen Stränden. Es gibt keine Bereiche in der Nähe der Einheit, die für Raucher bestimmt sind. Zu diesen Verboten gehören E-Zigaretten.

Perfect beach front cottage. Only thing I missed was an access to the beach for walking. The cottage was clean, everything in place. The T.V.was a bit challenging, but with help, we figured it out. All in all, it was the perfect North Shore exerience.

It was in a very cute community that was very quiet and nice. The inside of the place was very run down with all the cushions having stains. I wouldn’t exactly call it Beach access. There is sand along the walkway that leads to a stone wall that has access to the ocean. There is no beach right on the property sadly, it only lead to very strong waves crashing against the stone wall all day. There were also many bugs in the inside. There were many lizards inside and a cockroach that had fallen on my husbands face while he was sleeping.

Sand Dollar Cottage

The place was clean and had every appliance needed. However, the pool was closed for repairs during our stay, and the manager was out of town. We were not told there were pay washing machines that took quarters, no credit cards and no change machine. A lot of people don’t have change readily available. In addition we were asked to wash the towels, really? Not the fault of the colony, BUT… there was a cricket outside the bedroom window that went non stop until about 4:00 am. The cottage was abou 10 feet from the ocean so the sounds of the waves were definitely very welcome and relaxing.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A great location on the shore. People there very friendly. Close to everything on the Northshore. Being a bit older we did not sleep well at all, The beds and heat inside the unit kept us uncomfortable . Can use another fan or two. This was our second stay here at this magical cottage. The oceanfront location is amazing, the grounds are immaculate, the pool is refreshing, the proximity to Haleiwa and Wahiawa is so convenient. The peace and quiet is so relaxing. A touch of old Hawaii. Simply enchanting.

Beautiful and perfect!

I’ve been coming to Hawai’i for 40 years (about 15 trips). This was my favorite stay. The property was outstanding, the community was lovely and the location was perfect. The cottage was even better and more roomy than in the photos and exceeded my already high expectations. It was terrific and I highly recommend it!

Wonderful spot

We stayed for a week in April 2025. Peaceful spot where you can relax to the sound of ocean waves. Cottage is in a wonderful small gated community near the end of the Farrington Hwy. Beautiful nearly empty beaches near by. We did an oceanfront trail ride on horses right next door. Great place if you are looking for something more low key than staying in Waikiki

Vacation get away

The property was very nice and all the people are friendly. Very quiet as well. The unit is right on the water so you get to sit and watch the ocean all day. It was perfect for us.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Always enjoy staying at MBC. The Sand Dollar lanai is my favorite place to hang out and enjoy the trade winds and ocean view. It's sad that there is no more beach access because of the water level and the neighboring homes being threatened to wash away. Hope the State can figure out what to do so that the water doesn't get under the seawalls. Just something to be aware of if you want beach access, you will have to drive down the road.

Beautiful location! Can't beat the view. Comfortable furnishings. Everything we needed was right there in the cottage. We loved being able to sit on the patio and just take in the sunrise and sunset and everything in between.

Aloha!

The location is excellent. So much to see and do within a very short drive in any direction. About the only minor flaw is there isn't a sandy beach right in front of the house. The water is rough but it can still be swimmable. Plenty of turtles to see as well The house itself is very well stocked with all the necessary items for making dinner, sleeping, showering, etc. We were able to settle into a very normal, home like routine. The windows can be opened, the fans used and it's a fantastic way to sleep listening to the waves literally right outside the home. Highly recommend!

Great property, not great area

The property and grounds are beautiful. Waterfront, short walk to beach access. However the outside the property area is not great. This is a lot of ranch area and seeing homeless and parked cars along the highway is the norm. Secondly, this seems to be some issues between the rental management company and the people who manage the property. We had an issue with check in card not being initialed in one spot which generated lies between the 2 companies which was taken out on us in a very unprofessional way. We also had issues with the entry gate which caused us to sit outside the gate waiting for a phone call back. Both times this happened it took so long that other tenants open the gate for us. Overall the property and setting is beautiful. Having access to a pool and the ocean is great. If the management companies can work out whatever differences they have, this would be a much, much better experience.
