We had a wonderful time staying here. The house, garden and swimming pool were just perfect along with the setting in the quiet countryside. The house was very well equipped and clean.

Lovely rural location, fabulous large salt water pool with plenty to explore near by.

Well appointed and comfortable rural property. Lovely grounds fabulous heated large salt water pool. Close to small village with bar and small shop. Plenty to see and do. We love it here. Thank you Janet and John we had a lovely 2 week break.

Calm surroundings and beautiful house

The house was very clean, beautiful and set in a calm and serene surrounding. We enjoyed the wonderful refreshing pool. Lots of room in the garden for children to run about and a vast house with plenty of room for all to conduct various activities such as games, reading and playing pool in the attic. It was a very relaxing vacation and we would greatly recommend the house to others.

This property is spacious and very well equipped. It is ideal for a large family . The attic room for children was stiflingly hot as temperatures soared to 40 degrees. I think it should be noted that the pool is not gated ( there is an alarm but it was so sensitive that a pigeon set it off!! ) Also, there is no shallow end so only good if all children are confident swimmers. In the description, it is stated that the nearest village is walking distance- it would be a very long walk !! However, it is in a delightful, peaceful spot. A car is essential. Any problems we had were quickly resolved . Mosquito netting at most windows was a helpful addition. Loads of kitchen equipment, plentiful garden furniture. All good, thank you

Dear Pauline, Thank you so much for your detailed review and for awarding us a high score of 8/10. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and found the property to be a great spot for families. We also appreciate your constructive comments about the heat. This summer has indeed been unusually hot, with temperatures reaching 42 degrees. Thankfully, such conditions are rare and usually last only a few days. Regarding the village, St Privat is about 1.5 km away – a pleasant walk or just a couple of minutes by car. Many of our guests (and neighbours) enjoy the short walk to the bakery for fresh bread and croissants each morning. Finally, in line with French regulations, all pools must either be secured or equipped with an alarm. For safety and security, we have chosen an alarm system, which does need to be sensitive in order to comply. Property was wonderful. Lots of seating areas in sun or shade. Great to have the shade of the trees by the pool as well as the umbrellas. Needed as it was really hot so all the fans very welcome too. Pool table well used by the two teenagers. Overall a really good, relaxing holiday enjoyed by all. Thank you.

Charming house near Perigord

Delightful and very comfortable house in a beautiful location with a fantastic pool. We had a lovely week relaxing in the glorious French countryside enjoying this comfortable and generously equipped house. The kitchen had everything we needed, ice in the freezer and good sized wine glasses. Outside we particularly enjoyed the heated pool, lovely views with neighbouring cows and hammocks in the garden. Overall a great house and we’d be very happy to go again!

Quite simply the best we've ever stayed in...

First, and foremost, excellent communication and advice from the owners made the process such a pleasant and reassuring experience, with an arrival phone call too, providing a lovely and welcoming touch. The villa is even more charming than the photos suggest, set in a fabulous location with all the privacy you could desire. A glorious, quiet rural area with a delightful village shop in easy cycling distance, stocking all your basic needs. Delicious pain au chocolate too. Great supermarkets are a short drive away. The thoughtful owners have even provided the bikes along with lots of outdoor games like badminton, fishing rods to name but a few. The village hosts a tennis court which we used daily. Perfectly situated for easy access to all the lovely towns and villages in the area, the house has a very large and very well maintained saline pool, which was a godsend, as our daughter is allergic to chlorine. The garden is a true paradise, with hammocks among the shading trees helping to cool everyone down. The accommodation is really well appointed, has a wet room, homely touches of extra linen / kitchen supplies and lovely, thoughtful touches giving a really warm welcome. Everything you could possibly require, and more, is provided for you and the quality is unbeatable. The housekeeper, living locally, is an extremely helpful and delightful person. The house is a true home from home rather than a bleak, sterile holiday rental - you can imagine it is your own oasis away from the madding crowds. Lots of games, films, space to relax, a fabulous gas bbq and a delightful loft room with a pool table where we regularly argued whether it was ok to touch the black ball during shots !! Wardrobe storage, a source of great annoyance in many of our previous villa rentals, is excellent, with sufficient hangers to satisfy even those arriving with bulging suitcases. Helpful guides to the area's attractions and appliance instructions are all provided. Quite honestly, the best rental experience we have had in our 14 years of renting villas in Europe. Highly recommended. Well done Janet and John. A sterling job of providing us with a fabulously comfortable holiday experience.

Magnifique maison

Nous avons logé dans cette magnifique maison avec 2 adultes et 4 enfants. L'entrée étant autonome, nous sommes arrivés assez tard dans la nuit sans aucun problème. La maison est isolée sans aucun vis à vis, la piscine est très agréable et est chauffée à 26 degrés.

calme, confort, tranquillité et grande piscine

Superbe location, piscine vraiment grande et chauffé, grand jardin arboré, les propriétaires souhaitaient que nous nous sentions comme chez nous, objectif atteint nous avions plus l’impression d’être dans une maison d’amis que dans une location. La literie est très bonne et fournissent draps et serviettes de toilette ainsi que de bains, qui permet d'alléger les valises. Merci à Janet et John pour leur confiance, ainsi qu'a Tove et Joelle.
