Wonderful holiday apartment

The apartment was exactly what we were looking for and surrounded by greenery. Plenty of space for four people including two teenage boys with a great pool for cooling off after a long day sightseeing. A car is advised but the walk into Martinho is only about 15-20mins and well worth it for the restaurants and views across the bay. We would highly recommend.

Great apartment

This is a superb apartment and does not disappoint on any level, access is via a lift / elevator direct from garage or front door, the size of accommodation is fantastic and very tasteful decorated and equipped, every thing you require is on hand, the pool is large if not a bit cold, sun beds and towels provided, it is located in a quiet area however not far from local amenities, a car is essential to explore surrounding villages, shops and restaurants, Paul was very helpful and has lots of local knowledge. We would highly recommend this apartment to families, or couples with relatives, it is the perfect exploring location.

From start to finish this apartment and the owners delivered . The accommodation is spotless and pictures are spot on, we really liked the added benefit ,not listed , of the electric shutters , total darkness until you decided to get up. Lovely area, lots to do and not burning hot so perfect for the children . Paul and Denise treat you like friends coming to stay . The balcony is also a dream. So good is this apartment we have not been able to book for this year in the summer . A real gem .

Fantastic!!!! from the moment we opened the door of this stylishly appointed apartment we knew we were going to have a great holiday. The location of the property is situated about 15 minutes walk from the beach front where there was plenty of good food places to eat at unbelievably low prices. The spotlessly clean apartment itself is extremely spacious and tastefully adorned with leather sofas, colour coordinated rooms with attached on-suites and a fully equipped kitchen. This is located on the top floor and overlooks a good size pool and well maintained gardens. The owners organised transfer to and from the airport and were more than helpful with the booking process and pointed me in the right direction for a sneaky game of golf. We would recommend a car for a couple of days for those wishing to explore the area.

Lovely Apartment

This penthouse apartment is bright, contemporary and very well appointed. Probably the best positioned on this small development of 3 blocks, which share the lovely pool. Two apartment blocks are complete, with one more in progress; but no problems or noise was encountered. All furnishing, décor and fittings testify to the modern style, and are in excellent condition. Digital TV has many English channels, but no BBC or ITV (in common with many areas in Portugal & Spain). From our experience, the 10 minute walk to beach and town centre is perhaps a little optimistic, but easily achieved in 15-20 minutes. Sao Martinho has a nice beach and wide selection of bars & restaurants. In general, the Silver Coast is much more 'Portuguese' than the Algarve, and a welcome contrast. Car hire is not essential, but strongly recommended to explore further afield, with Nazare and Peniche well worth visiting. The welcome by owners Paul & Denise is a nice touch, and we appreciate the personal introduction. As mature and experienced travellers, we were not disappointed in any way.

Beautiful apartment

This is one of the best apartments we have stayed in. Denise and Paul were extremely helpful right from the initial booking. We decided not to hire a car so they put us in touch with a lovely lady called Ana Real who offered airport transfers and also provided a taxi service for us when we visited different resorts and even when we did a big shop at the hyper market - we were so lucky to have been put in touch with her. Denise and Paul met us at the apartment to show us round and give us general information - they provided a super welcome pack that had all the essentials and a couple of bottles of delicious wine! This was very welcome to save us rushing out to the supermarket before it closed. The apartment itself has lovely furnishings, very comfortable beds and a lovely wrap around balcony. There was plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery, glasses etc - everything you could possibly need for self catering. It is obvious that Denise and Paul have put a lot of thought into providing everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable holiday. The pool is fabulous - a bit cold for me as the weather wasn't brilliant so the pool didn't get a chance to warm up but my son spent most of his days in the pool and had a wonderful time. There is also a grassy area where he could kick a ball or play bat and ball, really great for kids. We would recommend hiring a car as it is a brisk 15 minute walk to the beach and mini market (25 minutes with a child) and the walk isn't a pleasant stroll as you pass an area of empty rundown shack style houses and there are parts of the walk that don't have pavement so not ideal for children and buggies. Sau Martinho do Porto is a pretty bay with big beach where there are cabanas for hire but no sun beds. There is a part of the beach which is quieter near the sand dunes. If you have the option to go out of school holidays then take it as the resort was very busy - as any resort is during peak season. There are gypsies in the field behind the apartment who appear to be trading horses. Whilst they didn't cause us any problems it did make us more aware of security, we were naturally suprised to see gypsies so close to the apartment and we hope they move on soon and look after their animals. Anyone who rents this apartment can be sure of comfort and attention to detail which makes this a wonderful apartment to enjoy your holiday.

Fantastic Penthouse with great Pool

we had a wonderful week in a great penthouse. Paul and Denise are very friendly and supportive hosts. Pool is great and so is the beach. You can both swim in the Atlantic and the pool, but please be aware that both are not heated. :-) The way to the beach is not too far (was part of my morning running tour), but you might want your kids to walk on their own. Unfortunately there are no bikes to rent in Sao Marthinho (at least not End of June, where we have been there), so we usually took the car to the town and the beach. Apart from that everything was fantastic, you can also do a lot of day trips to mainy scenic places around. So we really enjoyed our vacation and for would like to stay again in this great penthouse next time we are in Portugal, if we are accepted as guests again.

Wonderful place!

For our first trip to Portugal we stayed for 10 days with Paul and Denise and had a great time with nice weather, so we could also use the pool. The appartment is hugely spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean exactly as in the pictures. Apart form the regional sites (Obidos, Peniche, Nazare, Alcobaca) we made several day trips to Lisbon and even to Porto which is easy reachable in just over two hours. Communication was always perfect, Paul is an awesome host and we definitely would like to come back and stay with him again!

Nice stay

Apartment was very spacious and had lots of outdoor space. It’s location on the outskirts of Sao Martinho do Porto lets it down sadly. It’s not a pleasant walk to town or the beach.

Avons passĂ© d’excellentes vacances dans ce joli appartement trĂšs bien exposĂ©. Belles prestations de la rĂ©sidence intĂ©rieur/extĂ©rieur. Chacun sa chambre. Chacun sa salle de bains. Le top ! Belle piscine. Garage souterrain : pratique. Prendre ses repas sur le grand balcon vue sur le jardin et la piscine : on adore. En cette pĂ©riode particuliĂšre de crise sanitaire peu de monde dans la rĂ©sidence, nous Ă©tions au calme. Paul notre hĂŽte trĂšs disponible et accueillant. Gare simplement aux dames grincheuses de la rĂ©sidence faisant la police Ă  la piscine !!

Seaside in SĂŁo Martinho

As a family of six, with four older teenagers we had a wonderful week in Denise and Paul’s property in São Martinho. The apartment had everything you could possibly need and was immaculate. The pool was clean and quiet, enjoyed by all of us even though the weather was cooler than usual. São Martinho is the perfect base for exploring the area but has plenty of activities to offer if you prefer to stay in one place. The underground garage also made parking easy . A fantastic place to stay.

Paul et Denise sont des gens adorables qui vous mettes, avec beaucoup de plaisir, à disposition un appartement génial au 2iéme étage d'une petite résidence. Le tout est d'une propreté irréprochable. C'est dans ce contexte que vous passez des vacances reposantes et agréables au possible, que vous oubliez que l'océan au Portugal n'est pas trÚs chaud et que vous vous dites " Il faut que je revienne ". Superb Property in nice quiet location

A really lovely apartment in a nice complex just outside of the main town. Paul and Denise have thought of everything and I can honestly say there wasn't any point where we said "we wish there was a ..." as it was there. Beautifully decorated, clean and furnished to a high standard. The only thing missing for us was the weather, and we can't really hold them responsible for that! Around a 15/20 minute (leisurely) walk into the centre, which in our opinion was perfect. Close enough to walk in of an evening, far enough away to not be disturbed. The pool area was lovely and the balcony really does catch the sun all day (when it finally put in an appearance)! The Town is a 'typical' sea side resort, with lots of restaurants offering fresh fish and meat and a fantastic Gelataria with Ice cream's the size of your head - if that's your thing - we were there most evenings.... A lovely clean beach, with nice 'soft' sand, but we didn't actually really venture down there during the day, so cannot comment further. Also a great location to explore from, a car really is a must (in our opinion) especially if the weather isn't so great. A couple of Unesco world heritage sites pretty much on the doorstep. Paul and Denise are on hand if you have any queries and or problems and really couldn't have done any more than they did to make our stay a comfortable and memorable one. Thank you.

Comfortable, clean, spacious, what's not to like!

Wanted to give 4.5 stars, feel mean not giving the full 5. Very nice apartment on the whole but with some minor niggles. Outside furniture could be more comfortable cushions required for table seating. Missing a microwave in the kitchen. Some light bulbs required replacement. Electric breaker trips occasionally although we were warned it'd happen and a torch is thoughtfully provided. Other than that absolutely no issues and would return and definitely recommend. Very nice.

We had been looking to buy a property in Portugal for about 4 years, when late one October afternoon in 2010, we drove into Sao Martinho do Porto and saw the sun shining on the beautiful shell-shaped bay and immediately thought "this is the place". We sat and had a beer in a bar overlooking the bay and, once the stunning sunset appeared before our eyes, that was definitely it - we decided to buy a place here straightaway!! It took our breath away!! We signed up for a Penthouse Apartment in a small complex that was under construction, overlooking open countryside, which was completed in 2015 and, having stayed there many times, we are delighted with it. It really is a stunning apartment which we have furnished and equipped to a very high standard. You will love it!!

Beautiful shell-shaped bay and small fishing harbour. Easy access from Lisbon Airport via A8 motorway (55 minutes). Close proximity to some amazing places of historical and cultural interest such as Alcobaca, Batalha, Leiria, Fatima and Obidos. Short distance to several superb 18 hole golf courses. Lastly, the wonderful local Portuguese people who make everyone feel very welcome. Come and enjoy!!

There is a real sense of spaciousness and luxury in the apartment and the fact that we have 3 bathrooms means that all our guests have the convenience of their own privacy. Every room has patio doors which open out onto the wraparound balcony which offers wonderful views of the open countryside, the sand dunes at Salir do Porto and the Atlantic Ocean as well as attracting the sunshine all day. The kitchen is a completely separate room with it's own dining area meaning cooking and eating does not interrupt the peace and tranquility of the lounge. Wonderful large swimming pool beneath our lounge balcony. Close to all amenities yet far enough away from the busy seafront to enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside. Underground parking.
