Spacious and beautiful house in the Breton countryside

We had a wonderful stay. The house is beautiful, with generous spaces surrounded by a very large garden. We particularly enjoyed the new kitchen - a delight to cook in and sit around the table. So many places to explore in the countryside, and close to all the facilities we needed. Catherine and Andrew were truly beautiful hosts - so glad we got to meet them.

Ostrum Family - Brittany 2025

Beautiful, clean, well appointed, relaxing country farmhouse in an active farming region. The surrounding yard is large, private, and exceptionally well landscaped with a wide variety of flowering plants, trees, and shrubs including a small apple orchard. The yard has a mixture of sun, shade, outdoor seating, and play areas. The many species of birds will greet you throughout the day and into the evening.
Nearby Percheron mare band with foals.
Nearby herd of Charlois cattle.

A lovely property which looks even better than the photos implied. A "wow" moment as we entered the drive was followed by delight at the lovely garden and property. Well equipped and nicely furnished with a great kitchen for socialising as a family but plenty of other spaces to use independently. The new bedroom is an amazing space. The ping pong table was an unexpected hit with all the family. Lovely patio area for eating out. Andrew and Katherine were incredibly helpful answering my questions before and after booking and were very welcoming. Set in a quiet area in a lovely part of Brittany this house is highly recommended especially for a multi generational family group.

Brittany 2024

Incredible accommodation for a week’s holiday! A huge, beautiful house in a peaceful hamlet. We were astounded by the size of the property and garden! Extremely well appointed with everything we needed. We loved the garden games available and the table tennis table which kept us entertained! Great to have some board games and DVDs available too. Andrew and Katherine always replied to messages very quickly and left clear instructions about the property. Such a relaxing place to spend a holiday. Beautiful beaches within half an hour drive, plus lakes for fishing, woodlands for walks and bike rides and interesting towns to explore. Definitely keen to return here!

A wonderful home to stay in.

La Treaunais was exactly as described in the listing and very clean and well maintained. Plenty of room so you are not on top of each other. Gas bbq was a great addition. The location was perfect for peace and quiet, though only 30 minutes away from St Malo. Dinard and Dinan are also a must to visit. It was easy to book and Andrew was very helpful. It was also nice to meet Isabelle and Paul who welcomed us when we arrived. I have already recommended the house to all my friends on Facebook. We had a wonderful holiday and would have gladly stayed longer than our 2 weeks. I just cannot say enough to give Andrew and his home justice. Thank you so much for letting us stay there Andrew and we will certainly be back. It is our silver anniversary next year (2016), so we are looking at staying for 3 weeks. (If you will have us). It was great to look through the photos of the house being renovated and seeing how much hard work you have put in. We look forward to seeing more in the future. A Phoenix slowly emerging from the ashes. By the way our daughter didn't want us to leave a review, so she could have the house just for us ! Lol.

Upon arrival, we were incredibly impressed. And that feeling remained throughout our entire stay (1 week). The house is spotless and huge, both indoors and outdoors. The garden has so many places to sit that it was almost difficult to choose. The owners stopped by briefly and the interaction was excellent. In short: we had a fantastic holiday and didn't want to leave. Highly recommended!

Wow!! What a fantastic stay. We stayed in this beautiful farmhouse with another couple and it worked perfectly - we each had our own staircase, bedroom and bathroom - lovely quiet, private space. Thankfully didn't have to use the top floor bedrooms as heat rises and it was very hot for the week of our stay. The communal areas also worked well, very spacious, lots of seating areas and a large kitchen and patio area/s for us all to fit comfortably. The grounds are stunning and the sunsets a joy :)It was 39 degrees most of the week we were there and the farmhouse stayed cool with it's thick walls and shades - perfect. All in all a lovely stay with Dinon, Dinard, St Malo and many more gorgeous places to visit in easy reach, including beautiful sandy beaches. We very, very rarely go back to the same place twice, but for this beauty, we would xx

Thanks a lot Katherine and Andrew, we had a wonderful family vacation thanks to you!

A dream place in a dreamlike environment

Already the first glance at the mansion is filled with joy for the coming time. Our expectations were exceeded! Our daughter did not want to go home, and asked if we could not stay here forever. Great property with plenty of room

This is a lovely, spacious farmhouse, very much as per the description & photos, and very well equipped. We loved the summer kitchen and made good use of the BBQ. Although the weather wasn't brilliant, we always managed to find some sun not too far away. Dinan, Dinard and St Malo are all within easy reach and we found some fab beaches and seaside locations close by. Andrew was extremely helpful and we felt privileged to have spent all too brief a week here.

A Beautiful Retreat

I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this beautiful country retreat. The accommodation is large, well furnished and extremely comfortable. The owners have given much thought to making your stay as relaxed as possible, providing bbq facilities and games to suit all ages and all weathers. It's situated just a couple of kilometres from the nearest village and a very nice, and friendly, 9 hole golf course, suitable for all standards is also close by. The coast is only half an hours drive away with the beautiful towns of Dinan and St.Malo a must visit. We were a group of 5 adults and would definitely return to this venue and May is a lovely month to be there.

Le Treunais

Le Treunais is in a lovely setting and easy to find. Plenty of room to spread out,(we were six adults and you never feel on top of each other) strolling around the orchard garden was a real pleasure at the end of the day. Historic Dinan and St Malo an easy drive around 30 mins. Jugon Les Lac down the road beautiful lakeside walk. Also coastal towns only short drive, st Caste has a lovely stretch of beach. Chateau Hunaudaye 15 mins away well worth a visit. Tip: if you see chateau on the map google details as many are now hotels. In April the countryside is ablaze with flowering trees and rapeseed fields of gold. The house is a good as it looks in the photos and has been tastefully restored to provide comfortable accommodation. Paul and Isabelle who look after the properly only a phone call away if any problems and explain any info needed on arrival. We had requested linen but not thought didn't mean towels, but hyperu store 10 mins away at Plancoet and sells everything. Beds comfortable and kitchens ( one in sunroom) well equipped. We had a fabulous stay visiting a different place every day and then relaxing back at Le Treunais was a real pleasure. Wonderful memories thank you.Richard and Christine Leale and family.

Living in the Channel Islands, originally La Treunais was a great place to spend weekends, half terms and longer holidays exploring Brittany, finding new eating places and planning the next renovation projects.
We still come for a few weeks each year, but now the main house is used for short term lets to couples and families who wish to explore Brittany.
We still love spending time here with family and friends whatever the season, and now that we have renovated the separate barn and pigsty in the grounds, we have been able to open up the main house to guests and have the occasional holiday ourselves at the same time.
Our visitors' book is full of lovely comments and advice for new explorers and it is clear that La Treunais has been a special place for many.
We still continue to add to the property albeit a slow labour of love.
In 2023 we added a new kitchen and table tennis room and in 2024 there will be a large new bedroom with mezzanine for parties of 6+
Over the 35 years of work, we have friends with many local builders, electricians, plumbers and carpenters who have helped us with our projects.
We have hugely enjoyed bringing this pretty farmstead gradually back to life.

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

La Treunais seemed too special a place not to save after the great storm of 1989 even without a roof and various walls!

Having been a working farm, the previous owners helped us plant the trees and apple orchard and gave us a present of the walnut tree that now bears fruit in October.

Being close to St. Malo makes it so easy for our ferry (weather permitting!) and the area offers something for everyone: beaches close by, Medieval villages, markets, horse riding, river walks, lakes with water-sports and indoor pool, golf and a wealth of restaurants throughout the region.

It really is an excellent location for exploring Brittany.
