The location really is wonderful, it was great to feel so secluded and just enjoy the scenery. The house itself is nice, but needs a little TLC... we experienced a few niggles, such as one shower being too hot to be usable, an oven and a hob not working, problems with keys, that kind of thing. It's possible we were just missing some tricks, of course, but a few small things added up to a general impression.
It's worth noting that there's no WiFi, and phone signal was pretty hard to come by (for us, at least). This is great if you want to get away from things, but it came as a bit of a surprise since the listing described having "all modern conveniences". It wasn't a problem for us, but it's worth bearing in mind if you require connectivity for any reason.
Another note is that the charmingly-described "mystical access road" is actually a bit of a pain... a very long and rough track through farmland to get to the house. It's all part and parcel of the remoteness, of course, but I don't recommend trying it in a 2-wheel-drive with low ground clearance. One of us had a 4x4 and was fine, but it would take my Civic fifteen minutes just to get to the main road - and that's assuming we didn't have to stop to try and move any cows out of the way! Luckily we had great weather, we probably would have got stuck if the track was muddy. But if you have an appropriate car then it's no bother!
Overall we found it a nice place to stay, in a fantastic setting. We wanted a get-away-from-things holiday (especially in these covid times), and it fitted the bill very well - I recommend it if that's what you're looking for.
