Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. We take guest feedback seriously and want to clarify a few points for future guests. Regarding the fire pit, during your stay our area was under Stage 2 fire restrictions issued by Kane County. This prohibited open flames, including use of our fire pit, and the restrictions were in place for approximately three weeks from late June through July. We take these restrictions very seriously, particularly during a season with significant wildfire activity. Unfortunately, this was outside of our control. We did update our listing information while the restrictions were in effect and did inform you prior to your arrival. While there are times during fire season when fire restrictions may prevent use of the fire pit, this is not necessarily the case every summer. Regarding the location and privacy of the cabin, we are located in a quiet mountain neighborhood on a dead-end street. There are neighboring cabins, and we do not advertise the property as being completely isolated or without neighbors. Our listing includes aerial photographs showing the surrounding cabins. We’re sorry if the setting gave you a different impression. One benefit of our location is that the dead-end street has very little traffic, which helps keep the area peaceful and reduces traffic and dust. Our cabin was built in 1982, so it does have an older mountain-cabin character. During warmer months, we typically keep the windows and screened storm doors open when we are there to allow in the fresh mountain air and help keep the cabin comfortable. Our cleaner closes the windows after cleaning, so we understand that the cabin may have felt somewhat stuffy upon your arrival. We also want to clarify the comments about the bedding. We personally stayed at the cabin for several days immediately before your arrival and inspected it before your stay. There are no separate blankets on the beds; the beds have comforters with duvet covers, and the duvet covers are washed after every guest stay. We were also concerned to hear about the dishes in the cupboards. Occasionally, guests put dishes away that may not meet everyone's standards of cleanliness. We have addressed this with our cleaner and are taking steps to make sure this does not happen again. We have also recently had the tile and wood floors professionally steam cleaned and the carpets professionally cleaned in August 2026. Finally, regarding communication and directions, we sent the check-in and cabin instructions a week before your arrival. When you told us you had not received them, we immediately sent them again. When you asked about driving up Duck Creek Drive, we explained that Duck Creek Drive is on the other side of the highway and is not the road to our cabin. Our instructions specifically discourage using Spring Drive (also known as “The Cut”), as it is extremely steep and can be dangerous. We attempted to call you to make sure you had the correct directions because GPS can sometimes send guests the wrong way. When we did not receive a call back, we followed up with another message. Our intention was to help you arrive safely, and we’re sorry if our efforts came across as rude. We appreciate the feedback and have taken the concerns within our control seriously. We hope this response provides future guests with additional context regarding the fire restrictions, the mountain neighborhood setting, the age and character of the cabin, and the measures we take to maintain it. We recognize that every guest has different expectations and that it is impossible to make everyone happy. While we’re sorry this experience did not meet your expectations, your review is quite different from the feedback we have received from the overwhelming majority of our guests. We truly value that feedback and are proud of the many guests who have enjoyed their stays and appreciated the cabin’s peaceful mountain setting and character. We will continue to take constructive feedback seriously and make improvements where appropriate. At the same time, we want to provide future guests with accurate information so they can determine whether our cabin and its setting are the right fit for them. Crazy that you gave us only 3 stars! We have never received 3 stars...you mention it was "a great secluded stay" and "Exactly what you needed to unplug". Maybe the 3 stars was an error...I've noticed if you add the stars quickly from a phone etc. it can be tricky and add only 1 star when you meant 5.

Hi Ron, Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review for us! It was a pleasure hosting you for almost a two week stay! We were able to come down right after you and stay for 11 days! Never have been able to do that! Of course, some of it was work...my husband replaced the water heater with a larger unit, replaced the exterior light, we did some deep cleaning including the windows. We did a great hike at Cedar Breaks and an awesome UTV ride to Peek A Boo slot canyon. We’ve owned the cabin since 2015 and still find plenty of new things to do each time we use it. We are so glad you enjoyed your visit!

You were great guests and we are so sorry you could not use the washer during your stay (well you got one load done) because of the squirrel that decided to use our drain pipe for a home...we were able to get it repaired but again your group was very understanding and patient.
