When we arrived at the property, it appeared to match the pictures. However, it didn’t take long to uncover several significant issues. The carpet was aging and worn, an alarming amount of sand was beneath the living area rug, and an unpleasant odor pervaded the house. It was not appropriately cleaned. While we could have overlooked some of these problems, there was a strong smell of mold emanating from the second-floor bathroom drains. Our attempts to eliminate the odor with bleach was futile, as the mold scent returned within an hour.Given the serious health risks associated with mold exposure, we promptly contacted Meredith Lodging to address the situation. We notified them that we would be vacating the property that morning, as it was already 2 AM, and both of us were experiencing headaches and respiratory issues. The maintenance technician acknowledged the odor the next morning but failed to provide viable solutions. After our conversation with him, we left the property.Though Meredith initially promised a refund or relocation assistance, we quickly realized we would need to take matters into our own hands. We stayed in a hotel for the remainder of our vacation. We have to fight for our 4,000 that we spent on a vacation home that posed health risks. Meredith Lodging is horrible, and all they did was lie, lie, lie. I would RUN from Meredith Lodging properties!!! It's probably less stressful if you throw your money in a fire.
