Simple Gifts ist eine gemütliche Hütte am nördlichen Ende der Insel Madeline mit Zugang zum Oberen See.  Die Kabine ist ein Einzimmer-Studio-Stil mit einer voll ausgestatteten Küche und einem Wohnbereich, der sich zu einem großen Bett öffnet. 



Die Kabine ist der perfekte Ort, um sich zu entspannen und von der Außenwelt zu trennen.  Sie finden WLAN, wenn Sie möchten, aber keinen Fernseher!  Dies ist eine großartige Kabine für das Paar auf Hochzeitsreise, Jubiläum oder einfach nur weg von allem.

Great little spot

We enjoyed our stay here. Small and had everything we needed. Ideal for two people. Cool at night but not a problem with the wood stove and provided heaters. We were prepared based upon previous reviews to bring all food and coffee making supplies. Check in/out very easy.

End of summer get away

This spot was perfect for our family of five. The adults took the bed and we set up a tent in the yard for our three kids. It was the perfect amount of amenities to keep life convenient while small enough to keep us enjoying all that the outdoors had to offer. We will be back!

Cozy quiet retreat

Watch sunrise each day, follow critter tracks on the beach, breathe in the pine aroma and relax. Top tip: the electric heater has a remote—no one has to get out of bed to turn it on in the morning! Neat and tidy with the essentials. We loved it.

Cozy Lake Cottage

This little one room cottage with full bath was very comfortable for just the two of us. It’s a little outdated on the furniture but for the few days we were there it was fine. The kitchen had all the supplies we needed and the water pressure was great in the shower. Management was very prompt on bringing us towels and extra supplies because housekeeping forgot to stock us with any. Overall I would stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights towards the end of August. It was extremely quiet and felt remote, which was exactly what we wanted. It is removed from the busier more tourist-oriented area of the island, which is about 15 minutes away. There is great lake access across the street, and we couldn’t believe how few people there were around the area. The cons: bed is a bit creaky, the only places to sit are on some pretty uncomfortable wicker furniture, and there were a few large black ants in the bathroom. These are very minor criticisms of an otherwise amazing and highly recommended location. I wound absolutely come back here. Madeline Island is a great spot to get some peace and quiet.

We love this cabin, perfect for the two of us. Only problem - and I don’t know if anything can be done about this - was the large black ants in the bathroom. Seems like they will come in some years and not others. More rain this year maybe?

Great rustic cabin

This cabin is a gem! It was perfect for my writing retreat. Quiet and peaceful but with good internet. Easy access to everything else on the island. The small deck on the beach was a great place for morning coffee and evening cocktail. If you're going to book this place, be sure to bring everything you might need for cooking. I had to run to the market for salt and pepper. There are no supplies besides pots and pans. I echo a previous review that the wicker furniture could use some cushions. It would also be nice to have a broom to sweep off the cabin's deck. I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely book it again.

This is a nice little one room cabin with just about everything you need. The one thing that I wasn’t thrilled about was the need to think about heating with a wood stove. Thankfully, there was a nice ceramic heater and an electric baseboard in the bathroom, but you certainly wouldn’t want to leave those on overnight, or even when you’re away. Same thing, though, for a woodstove. So that’s one thing. The other is that the communication with the rental agency wasn’t terrific. They had indicated I should bring my own amenities, like groceries, but they never really specified what they provided and what they didn’t, even when I emailed back. So I was forced to buy some supplies at a pretty expensive place just across the water only to discover that the place didn’t even have tea or coffee. Thankfully, someone had left some filters for the Mr coffee machine. I went and got a really overpriced bag of coffee the next day, but that’s just ridiculous. If you have a rental agency, they need to answer their emails . In addition, leaving a few sachets of instant coffee and a few teabags would be nice. Otherwise, this was a great property and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Easily the most fantastic part of this property is its beach! Just a short walk down the driveway and across the street is a wonderful deck with benches and stairs to the lake. Our grandkids had a wonderful time looking for agates and driftwood and jumping off nearby docks. The beach was all ours and we saw only one kayaker in 5 days. We had a cookout one evening and enjoyed the fire pit and some provided wood while the kids played cards indoors. My only disappointment was the stove. We had planned to do breakfasts and lunches in the cabin and the ill fitting burners on the stove made this difficult. We managed but I would recommend replacing the stove burners with ones that fit. The kitchen is very basic but Jon communicated that to me so I came prepared. The cabin is quiet and comfy and was just what we needed to kick back and relax. The sound of Lake Superior waves on the shore was unforgettable.

Wonderful little gem of a cabin

Only ding against it was the microwave didn’t work - which was only a deal because I saw it in the pictures and had incorporated it into my meal plans 🤠. This is a great little cabin in a great location - just loved it!

Relaxing and, yes, simple

This property is aptly named. Located about 2/3 the length of the island, about 10 miles, from the village of LaPointe and just across Big Bay Road from Lake Superior. It is sheltered from its neighbors, who likely aren't in residence anyway. Traffic is minimal and more likely to be a bicycle or scooter than a car. The yard area is ample and comfortably shaded. The cabin, as advertised, is basically one big room (plus a bathroom) with all the basics, although I would have enjoyed a couple of upholstered chairs instead of the wicker furniture with a few pillows. Maybe its the pandemic or Great Resignation, but don't depend on restaurants or the convenience store being open, i.e., bring some food. We ate out every day, but who would be open on any given day seemed a bit of a crap shoot. The convenience store was closed all 4 days. Great place to relax as well as to enjoy cycling, kayaking, boat tours, or hiking.

Quaint and Quiet

We couldn’t have been more excited about this cabin! It was cozy, well out of town, and had a private feeling. I enjoyed the reading material in the cabinet to get brushed up on some Lake Superior history. We LOVED the private beach! The lake was mostly calm for us! We totally recommend this cabin for a couple’s getaway!
