very comfortable location - remote, yet close to small town and accessible to the entire east coast area. Good communication with owners at all times. They met us in town to be sure we could find the house as it is up several small roads and the final driveway would surely be missed by a new comer to the area. Owners are very accomodating and make you feel right at home. Views of surrounding farmland and hills is stunning and very relaxing. Wickow Way trail very near property that you can access for nice walks. Modern amenities in house are nice. Showers are small but tubs are large. Kitchen is large and nice to cook in. Property was well maintained and comfortable to stay in. We used the house as a base for two weeks in Ireland. The owners provided a nice and convenient suggestion for us to travel to Dublin, and gave us directions to park outside of the city and told us which bus to take in. We would not have figured it out without their help and it made the trip into Dublin very easy. Travel to Dublin was 60-75 minutes. Golfing is very near and we played five courses which were all about 30-60 minutes away. Incredible courses with excellent views of forests, rivers, lakes and the ocean. When I travel, I like cozy down bedding with very comfy pillow top mattresses adn big fluffy pillows- the beds were functional and comfortable but not overwhelming 'cozy'. 3 rooms had twin beds and one a double - a queen would have been nice, but the farmhouse has small rooms. Maybe more a matter of personal opinion vs a dislike. The large dining, kitchen andl living room area are very warm. The heating in the house is very comfortable. You can hear rain on the windows at night which is pleasant. I would recommend this highly.
Hello Mary and John , we have been trying since September to submit review, keeps refreshing.

I have been trying since August to write a review-never takes-hope this does! Mary and John were, are wonderful , warm hosts who take great pride in their home and country. I knew from the moment I saw a picture I would love it, and we did! My son and daughter want to move here! This home is so magical, the night sky is breathtaking and the surrounding countryside is beautiful.. Tinahely is a lovely town, great food, produce, meats, etc. Restaurants were really nice, warm, good food and drink, very family friendly all around. I want to thank Mary and John for a magnificent stay!

Cottage was everything we hoped for, just 10 minutes from a lovely little village. Mary met us in the village and showed us around, we loved the tour but even more so her stories of the area made us feel at home. The house is clean and spacious, kitchen is basic but we were able to make dinner for 12 so all the basics are there. No wifi, no cable but decent cell signal, a welcome respite that fits with the amazingly peaceful surroundings. With decent weather we were able to have tea in the yard and read on the deck with only the sheep and birds making noise. We were disappointed to have family activities that took us away from the house, will plan to return to see our relatives and next time just immerse ourselves at the property. Staying here was the epitome of "Ireland".
We spent 3 weeks in Wicklow, in this wonderful country that Ireland is.
The house suited perfectly our family of 8 persons (5 – 83 years; children, teenagers, parents, grand-parents). We appreciated the warm welcome of the O’Toole family and communication was totally reliable.
The house has enough space to house a big family and still offers each one possibilities to move back. To mention is the separated ‘little house’; our elderly people loved it very much.
The place is extremely calm and isolated (something we wanted); the kids spent a lot of time outside. There is a river at the bottom of the valley; also, close to the property there is a ruin to discover.
We all loved to watch the swallows in the courtyard, chasing insects in the meadow and the shepherd that trained his boarder-collie on the fields. Together with the clouds incessantly moving this was our natural TV (nevertheless there is a TV in the house).
This is a good place to read books and for evening filling discussions.
We brought our own bikes. MTB can find good opportunities to bike, but streets are narrow and partially hidden, so kids can’t go on their own.
Countryside offers different activities for all ages and ambitions:
The hiking paths are excellently signposted, for short walks up to 2 day tours, always through stunning landscape. (We used to walk to Tinahely which takes about 1h 15 and where you can find groceries, a butcher, a library, a surgery…)
We made a 2-day tour along the Wicklow-way that connects Glendalough – Dublin (wicklowway.com)
The region has a lot of other places of interest: The 11th century monastery of Glendalough, by the way a beautiful car drive over the ancient military-road, we used to go to Clogga-Beach, close to Arklow that you can reach within 30 minutes car drive. The revolution-museum in Enniscorthy is worth a visit. Dublin is easy to reach (as well as the airport).
All in all a treasure place to recommend.
