Das elegante Ferienhaus liegt nahe vieler Sandstrände für Familienurlaub. „Scar Bridge Cottage“ liegt auf 1,2 Hektar mit eigenem See mit vielen kleinen Bachforellen. Der Fluss liegt hinter einem Zaun mit Tor zu Stufen zu einer Holzplattform ideal zum Sitzen oder Angeln. Der Stall aus gehauenem Stein wurde umgebaut, um Gästen ein Spielzimmer mit Billardtisch zu bieten. Große, gepflegte Rasengärten & Obstgarten mit Apfel-, Birnen- & Pflaumenbäumen. Dank Holzsesseln, Tisch für Essen im Freien & 8 Stühlen können Sie das schöne, 1,2 Hektar große Grundstück bestmöglich nutzen. Das sonnige Holzhaus am Fluss ist schön zum Entspannen oder Lesen unter grünen Bäumen, mit dem Rieseln des Flusses unten. Gartenschaukel, Klettergerüst & Sandkasten für Kinder. Die Südterrasse im Stallhof ist mit Lavendel, Schneeballsträuchern & Sommerflieder bepflanzt. Der Charme des Ferienhauses & der Gärten gewährleistet, dass dieses Anwesen unabhängig von der Jahreszeit ideal ist. Boule, Picknickkorb vorhanden.

Das Ferienhaus hat im Erdgeschoss eine schöne, maßgeschneiderte Landküche mit glänzendem AGA-Herd, Doppel-Elektroofen & Herd. Praktische Geräte wie Pannini-Toaster, elektrischer Schneebesen etc. vorhanden. Die Küche hat 6 Sitzplätze & ist besonders attraktiv dank tiefer Landhausfenster auf beiden Seiten. Die hintere Küche/Speisekammer verfügt über Waschmaschine, Trockner & großen Kühlschrank mit Gefrierfach. Genügend Platz für Strand-/Angelausrüstung. Picknickkorb, Thermoskannen & Decke vorhanden. Separates WC & Waschbecken unten.

Die Küche führt ins ursprüngliche, gemütliche Zimmer mit großem Steinkamin, gemütlichen Sesseln & beeindruckender Musikanlage. Eine Auswahl an CDs mit abwechslungsreicher Musik & Büchern (Wälzer, Kurzgeschichten, Erklärung des Nachthimmels & Fischerknoten etc!) ist vorhanden. Der Wintergarten ist ein geschmackvoller Anbau mit hoher Decke & Terrassentüren zur sonnigen Südterrasse. Fenster auf beiden Seiten bieten Blick auf den Vorder- & den Hintergarten.

Gemütliches 3-Sitzer-Sofa, Sessel & Schaukelstuhl. Der zentrale Eisen-Kronleuchter & Kerzenlampen an den Seiten haben Dimmer für gemütliche Atmosphäre. Farbfernseher & DVD-Player mit vielen DVDs, auch sehr beliebte Filme bei Kindern, vorhanden.

Die 3 Schlafzimmer oben (2 Doppel-, 1 Twinschlafzimmer) sind stilvoll & gemütlich mit Himmelbetten, schmiedeeisernen Bettgestellen, Bettwäsche aus ägyptischer Baumwolle & vielen Handtüchern ausgestattet. Alle haben schöne, tiefe Fensterbänke im Landhausstil & diskrete Oberlichter (mit Jalousien) für tolleren Blick auf Nachthimmel & Sonnenschein. Das Hauptschlafzimmer hat Fenster auf beiden Seiten & separates Waschbecken, das Twinschlafzimmer ein Steinelement an einer Wand & Blick auf Vordergarten & Landschaft. Country Cottage - Fully Equipped - Picturesque

Kate was a gracious host. She communicated extremely well with us, gave us all the information we needed for a nice stay. The cottage is a classic Irish home with a sunroom, snug, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms. On the property are several interesting out buildings and a place for the dogs to run. The heating, water, water pressure were all great. We enjoyed our stay.

We had a lovely time in the cottage. Even though the weather wasn’t brilliant we managed to enjoy the local beaches and countryside as well as spend time in the cottage. Contact with Kate was exemplary and we will definitely come again

Shabby and needing a complete refurb

If your taste is on the eclectic side and you don’t mind the almost daily bathroom visitor of slugs or spiders amongst the mould growing in the bath then this may be the Cottage for you. In need of major renovation and modernisation this ‘rustic’ house/cottage wouldn’t suit all tastes and barely fits in with the stunning properties within the area.The ‘staged’ photos on the website do not reflect the true decorative state of this property and were very misleading.The advertised ‘great Wi-Fi’ didn’t work for us although the owner did try several ways of rectifying this but after four days we decided it wasn’t worth the hassle of trying to get Wi-Fi. We felt this house wasn’t up to our normal even basic standard and taste and therefore left the property several days earlier than planned.

Perfect start to our Ireland trip!

We loved this cottage. The location was perfect for some great day trips. The fire pit outside was awesome and we sat around the fire almost every night of our stay. It felt like home but in Ireland! Our host was very responsive and checking in and out was a breeze.

Lovely stay in Wexford

A very authentic cottage stay in Wexford with great amenities and thoughtful details. Very comfortable and cozy with a well appointed kitchen and lovely garden with everything you could want. We were visiting family in the area and it was very centrally located to all the Wexford attractions, while very quiet and rural. A great vacation stop.

We had a very short stay at the cottage, it was spotless, we enjoyed the peace and quiet and sitting by the fire in the evening, our only issue we had is the shower, the water doesn't stay hot for long but other than that it was perfect, location was so quiet it was great. Scar Bridge Cottage - Wonderful

We were looking for a taste of the Irish countryside and got everything we were looking for here. The property has a large backyard with a brook running through it. There was also a nice picnic table, fire pit and charcoal grill. The proximity to Kilmore Quay and Johnstown Castle was wonderful. Wexford wasn’t that much further either. In all it was charming, peaceful and we really enjoyed our stay.

Relaxing stay in Wexford

A lovely cottage in the Wexford countryside. Lots of great activities in the region along with all the necessary supplies available in nearby Wexford. Kate was an outstanding communicator and provided us lots of information (tailored to the ages of our kids) to ensure we were able to make the most of our visit. The property has a lovely stream and lots of places to hang outside and enjoy an Irish gin and tonic. Highly recommend!

Lovely stay

Sweet cottage in lovely rural location. Great expansive garden with stream running through. Very good communication with Kate. Problem with heating sorted quickly and the housekeep even lit a fire for us to return to which was lovely. Lots of beautiful beaches within a 30/45 mins drive.

We had an amazing time with our dogs, fantastic massive garden. Very safe and secure We will definitely be back in the summer as I can only imagine how pretty it would look. The house has everything you could possibly want....Fell in love with the Aga, we spent most evening in the kitchen :) The double bed is so comfortable... slept so well

Cosy quirky cottage

Myself and 5 other family members had a two night stay here, we all loved it's cosiness, beds were so comfortable, bed linen, towels etc were perfect. Lots of extras there in case you forgot anything. Ample and safe garden space for our dogs to run around. Ate in Mary Barry's restaurant which provided courtesy bus , food was so good, also the highlight of our time away was the Saltee sauna at kilmore quay, First time for us and wnt be the last. Will definitely book here again in the future. Also the host was so responsive and friendly.

Perfect cozy winter stay :)

We had a wonderful cozy Christmas week at this lovely characterful property. We arrived to cute Christmas decorations, coffee and biscuits in the kitchen and even a stocking loaded with Christmas candles and chocolates. So incredibly kind and thoughtful. Well-stocked kitchen and Kate had thought of everything making it possible for us to whip up a full Christmas dinner. We enjoyed a great DVD Collection, games nights by the fire and I can see that in the summer the garden by the little river would be just fantastic. Bedrooms were very comfy and Kate had electric blankets for us. Lovely bathroom, plenty of hot water and good shower pressure. Pretty country views from all rooms. We loved the nearby coastline and beaches…even in December. Stunning views and walks…even saw whales just off shore. Amazing. Cliff walk to Hook lighthouse was lovely and of course you’re never far from a lovely pub. Also loved our day in nearby Wexford, cute shopping streets, good restaurants and we enjoyed a Christmas show at the National Opera. A truly special and enjoyable family week and despite it being right over Christmas, our lovely host was always quick to respond to any question I had. 5 stars, for sure. Thank you Tormey family.

Exactly what was needed

We are just home from a wonderful stay in Scar Bridge Cottage and my god it did not disappoint. I already want to go back. Our wedding was cancelled due to Covid so we decided to head away with our two kids and our dog to get away from it all. Kate was so helpful and pleasant to deal with from the offset. Her warm manner and communicative skills were so impressive, and the cottage was exactly how it looks in pictures. The beds were more comfortable than any hotel bed I have slept in and I travel with my job and stay in a lot of five star hotels. The cottage is so quaint and the aga adds character and charm and is so cosy and comforting. The kids loved the garden and being located beside the river our golden retriever was lapping it up. I will for sure go back to this little gem of a hideaway. We even went for a swim as we felt so invigorated from our break and it was January so we felt renewed. The local fish and chips on the pier in Kilmore Quay were a treat with the best view in the house!! Not forgetting to mention the beautiful Mary Barry’s. To just sit and read in the cottage with a glass of red in hand and some classical music was magical. Can’t wait to return and have dinning outside near the river in the outdoor pergola. Thanks again Kate and we will be in touch.

Beautiful Place in bad condition

The cottage , located in the middle between Waterford and Wexford, has a nice property with a big garden. It was a really beautiful place- unfortunately house and garden were in a really bad condition. There were some aspects which disappointed us during our stay in the house: the most important problem was that the shower didn't work properly. At max two people could use the shower; than the water was completly lacking- it was impossible to use the shower within the next 30 minutes. Drought or not, if you rent a house the shower has to work! The bedrooms upstairs are really small, so that we were not able to place our luagage; there is only a little space to store the clothings. It would be necessary that the cleaning team pays more attention to the cleanness especially in the kitchen and the bedrooms – for example the fridge has a corroded front the housekeeper told us not to use the AGA-stove (it will be only used in winter) – so we were left with an two-plate-cooker... In our opinion the standards of the cottage makes it necessary to reduce the weekly rates - for all that we are only able to give 2 stars from 5

Absolute Nightmare

This property had a number of maintenance issues. It had an oil leak upon our arrival which smelled horrible the entire duration of our stay. There was broken crockery all over the grounds and broken lights outside. The shower head was on incorrectly upon our arrival and caused a leak which the owner blamed me for. There was broken glass on the ground and animals nesting in the kids clubhouse. There was a broken rail on the stairs barely held together with tape (very unsafe for a toddler). The bedroom doors stick if shut completely and my kids would get locked in their rooms. The front door doesn’t stay shut and the property owner is rude and does not seem to care about her guests happiness or experience when confronted with issues. The shower lost pressure during our stay and would only drip an issue the owner knows about and chooses not to fix so I had no shower the last three days of my stay. We left early on an emergency basis and the owner refuses to refund on the basis of these issues. Overall this stressful horrible experience ruined our vacation. Absolutely no compassion even for a widow with 4 small children. If you rent from her you’ll regret it!

We loved staying at this beautiful place it had everything we needed and more. Kate is a wonderful host who puts a lot of thought and care into making her guest feel welcomed and comfortable. She was always available to help with anything we needed. She’s provided us with a wealth of information about the area which made our time there very special. Picture perfect!

The cottage is ideally located for exploring this part of Ireland. It is welcoming and cosy and contains all the equipment you could possibly require. The garden is family and dog friendly. Great areas to sit outside, especially beside the river. I hope to revisit some time in the future.

The lovely Scarbridge Cottage

From the moment I started dealing with Kate I was v impressed with her prompt replies and great recs.we loved scarbridge cottage and most notably the great garden where we enjoyed many games of badminton and it was safe and secure for our doggie -Rufus. Great spots to visit in wexford within easy reach The courtsesy buses to Mary Berrys and Rathangan.kitchen is a godsend We will visit again for sure and have visions of cozying up in front of the fire in the future

kate and her husband purchased this property in 2006 after the birth of their second child. they enjoy using it as an escape from their busy lives where they can relax or spend time with friends and family.This property is less than 2 hours drive from their Dublin home and ticks all the boxes for charm , oodles of private outdoor gardens , great local restaurants , pubs and food providers , stunning beaches and of course the sunny southeast's preferential weather!
The cottage is 200 years old and is fitted with most modern comforts to combine the charm of a period property with style warmth comfort and interest whilst having those odd corners and cosy rooms that define a cottage.the cottage garden is v large country garden and ever growing , we have wild areas and mown areas , terraces and courtyard .. fast WiFi has recently been added and good internet cafe locally where private room can be booked if zoom meetings or the need arises .
We enjoy researching areas before we travel and to offer you the same opportunity we send you a file of own local recommendations and those discovered and enjoyed by guests so that you can get the most out of your stay - you may decide to visit some or all of the places , restaurants , pubs, beaches on the list or just while away the afternoons peacefully dipping your toes in our little river or playing rounders on the lawn whilst the BBQ prepares your supper !We love to hear reports of any other spots you discover.

A charming and characterful restored 200 yr old property , with 3 acres of privacy and a small river bisecting the grounds. Great location for touring SE Ireland. This region's proximity to busy Rosslare car ferry ensures plentiful activities and year round facilities for families. The area is renowned for the Arts and dotted with historic castles and stunning cliff edged beaches. Wexford is a prosperous county and has great year round facilities for children ,adventure playgrounds, horse riding and water sports. The beaches vary from long strands to cliff edged beauties ,historic Hook lighthouse - the oldest working lighthouse in Europe - is a fascinating visit with whale watching and cliff walks , Duncannon fort reinactment and beach sand sculpting fest , kite surfing to the gourmet fish delights of our own Kilmore Quay village. Excellent choice of farmers markets , local deli shops to fill a tasty picnic and explore for the day !
