Filthy
This house did not appear to be a vacation rental property; it seemed more like it was someone’s home and they decided it would be a great way to make some extra money. My guess is that they left shortly before we arrived. There was an empty car parked in front of the property the entire time we were there and their mail and packages were delivered daily. The house was filthy! We bought Swiffer pads to clean the living room floor because we were afraid to let the baby crawl on the floor. The woodwork was covered in dust, cobwebs and pet hair. The television equipment on the floor looks like it has never seen a dust rag. There was something spilled on the wall under the TV and it was never cleaned up. There was no table in the house to sit down at for a meal. There were not enough chairs to sit outside on the deck. The closets and dressers were full of clothes so we had to live out of our suitcases because there was nowhere to unpack our clothes. There were random clothes on the floor behind the headboard in the second bedroom. There was apparently a cat in the house which was never mentioned in the house description. A couple of our guests have pet allergies that were irritated during their stay. There were paint splatters on the walls and the floor. The “rocks” that were glued to the cabinet hardware were a poor design choice and were dirty and looked like they had never been cleaned. The house advertised “wheelchair access” so we expected there might be other amenities like grab bars in the bathrooms and there were not. The air conditioning did not seem to be working very well and we think it was set so that we could not adjust it. I have pictures to support my comments but don’t see a way to upload them to this review. We spent $1500 for a five night reservation and don’t feel like we got our money’s worth at all! I would have given them a zero rating but apparently that is not an option.
