Thanks for your constructive comments, and for booking your return trip next year despite those problems. We will be installing a set of steps with railings off our dock to help seniors getting in and out of the lake. We also will be enforcing our "no pets" rule, and stepping up our cleaning standards.

We do try to provide helpful concierge service so you're not left fending for yourself and trying to figure out stuff on your own. We also try to keep our cell phone handy 24/7 so our assistance is usually a quick phone call or text away for any questions/concerns you may have during your stay.

Renter was elderly and couldn't hear a phone voice conversation, so we couldn't explain a few things to him: Our "Mr. Heater" is a certified ventless heater that doesn't need venting and our free dry firewood was located in the shed (but good suggestion to cover our outside firewood pile with a tarp). We do allow our renters to clean the cottage themselves to save money, or pay for our cleaning crew to do it. Our policy is to check the cottage between renters for cleanliness, but it looks like we dropped the ball on this one! This renter couldn't talk on the phone because of a hearing problem, but we normally call our renters when they check in and would have sent the cleaning crew back to correct any deficiencies. We don't have an electrical plug above the kitchen sink, but we did find a kitchen outlet that was loose and replaced that. No prior complaints about dim lighting, but we decided to put in some brighter bulbs since that was an easy fix. We did have to anchor the fishing boat further out since the lake level was low that time of year, but normally it sits on our boatlift for easier access. Our policy is to make our guests happy, but this renter couldn't talk on the phone so we didn't know about these problems until after their review. (We are available 24/7 by phone to handle any issues before/during/after your stay.)
