This is a great place to stay in San Diego.
This is a great place to stay in San Diego. The location is within walking distance of Balboa Park. The front entrance opens onto a pedestrian only street and it is only a two-minute walk to buy groceries. You can find nice restaurants within a five to ten minute walk. It has all the amenities that we need for cooking and laundry, etc. It is clean, well appointed and very quiet. I 'd recommend this to anyone wanting to stay in this San Diego location.
A beautiful space in a great neighborhood.
This was the second year that we have spent the winter in Larry’s wonderful condo in Hillcrest. That fact that we’ve already reserved for next year probably conveys how much we enjoy staying there. We’ve been spending winters in San Diego for over ten years and have stayed in several different places. But none have provided such a perfect combination of what we enjoy in a vacation home; a beautiful, well maintained space in a secure and quiet community, a perfect location easily accessible to anywhere in San Diego and a very responsive and considerate owner. Hillcrest remains our favorite neighborhood because of its proximity to the Zoo and Balboa Park, as well as public transportation, restaurants, shops and grocery stores. In short, if you decide to rent from Larry, you will be very satisfied with your decision.
It was a pleasure to host you again this year and I look forward to your trip next year. As you so accurately point out, the location is ideal and within walking distance to so much of what San Diego has to offer.
Very nice place to stay
I stayed two months with my family at this very nice condo. Its location very convenient and close to markets Ralps and Trader Joes. Also there is a Whole Foods in a few blocks range. Larry is very good host. He helped us a lot. Thanks again Larry.
Great place to stay, clean and comfortable
We were planning a vacation and decided to go to San Diego. I checked the hotel rates which I found to be a bit expensive, so we decided to look for a private condo. We looked and read the reviews online and decided we would stay at a condo in the Hillcrest area. I contacted the owner Larry Grimaldi who responded to my inquiry promptly. I made the arrangements for the month of July and all went very smoothly. Later, we decided that we wanted to have a few more days at the end of June, so I contacted Larry and asked him if the unit was available for the last four days in June as well. Fortunately, the condo wasn’t rented and we were able to get those dates as well.
We arrived in San Diego and got to the condo and we were very impressed with the condition of the condo, it was very clean and well kept up. The next day Larry called first and then come over to introduce himself, he mentioned if there were any problems to give him a call and he would take care of them. After a week we noticed the under mount sink garburator was leaking. I mentioned this to Larry and it was replaced the same day.
The two bedroom condo was very well equipped with everything you would need from paper towels, silverware, pots, pans, dishes, laundry detergent with a washer and dryer and lots of towels. There was even a lot of cooking essentials like, spices, olive oil that one would have in their own home.
The kids loved the pool and the hot tub and I made use of the fitness center which was great. It was only a short walk to Ralphs, Trader Joes, Starbucks, the bank, restaurants, or any of the many other amenities one might require. The condo complex was very well kept and very clean. There was also a parking spot that was supplied with the condo. The condo is well situation and you have easy access to public transportation or fFor our summer vacation we wanted to visit San Diego in the month of July. Initially, we were going to stay in a hotel around the hotel circle and creeway access to the airport or beach which is only a few minutes away. Overall, this condo was a great place to stay. The only thing that was disappointing, was that we had to leave to go back home.

Amazing condo in great location
I spent 2 months at the condo for temporary work in San Diego and don't have one negative comment. It is at a amazing location within walking distance of everything you need. There are restaurants, grocery stores, sushi, and much more. The owner was cheerful and always accommodating. The condo is well stocked for everything you think you might need: beach towels, cleaning supplies, dishes, cooking supplies, etc. The shower in the master is a huge rain shower that makes you want to stay in the condo all day. Great parking in a underground garage which is fantastic - there is even a perfect car that he rents out for a very affordable price if you need a car. The condo is homely and a very comfortable place to stay. I didn't want to leave after two months of being there.

A beautifully designed condo
As refugees from Minnesota, my partner Dianne and I always look forward to our winters in San Diego. We’ve been coming out here for over ten years. In the past we’ve rented bungalows since, we love Craftsman, as well as condos. But this year we found a winter residence that was perfect for us. Larry’s condo is beautifully appointed. The unit is light-filled, easy to maintain with a pleasant, open plan. I should add that Larry Grimaldi is an exceptional landlord, accommodating and very responsive to any questions or concerns.
The space is generous and no comfort is overlooked including the super comfortable beds, the luxury bathrooms and large flat screen TV. The unit is part of a large condo complex, but it was surprisingly quiet both day and night. Street noise wasn’t an issue at all. Since we stay for a longer period, we like to cook at home, although it’s hard to resist the dozens of excellent restaurants within walking distance. The beautifully remodeled kitchen had everything we needed to do some serious cooking.
The location is perfect. On Sundays one of the best farmers markets in town is a block away. A typical day began with a twenty-minute walk to the San Diego Zoo or Balboa Park. Hillcrest’s commercial node is also within short walking distance as are a number of grocery stores. Bus connections a block away take you anywhere in the city. (Tip to seniors – a 30-day bus pass is available for $18 providing unlimited travel throughout San Diego.) We’re delighted that we discovered this great place and plan on becoming regular visitors.
