Oberhalb von Lochalsh auf einem abgeschiedenen Privatgrundstück, umgeben vom National Trust for Scotland für Wälder6 Gärten. Nach Süden gerichtet in einer prächtigen Kulisse mit schönen Aussichten auf das Meer & die bis zu 1000m hohen Berge von Skye. Auch wenn äußerst privat, an einem eigenen Weg von 300m gelegen, sind es mit dem Auto nur 3-4 Min nach Kyle von Lochalsh, wo es einen Bahnhof (die malerische Bahnstrecke nach Inverness ist wirklich weltbekannt!), eine Bank, Geschäfte & einen ausgezeichneten Supermarkt gibt. Außerdem gibt es einen kleineren Supermarkt & eine Post ca. 1,6 km entfernt. Der Garten bietet eine große Rasenfläche & ist mit Magnolien & Rhododendren aus Bhutan, China & Nepal bepflanzt, die von Februar-August blühen.
Durchgängig Doppelverglasung & Teppichboden; Nachtspeicherheizung & Holz-/Kohleöfen; Heißes Wasser sowohl bei geringer Belastung als auch unmittelbar per Elektroheizung. Gratis Breitband-WLAN. Dies ist ein wunderbarer Ort mit viel Privatsphäre.

What a beautiful place and great location. You cannot beat the stunning scenery and the wonderful fresh ocean air.The beds were so comfortable, house very clean and loads of privacy. It was a real oasis after touring and hiking the Isle of Skye. We would highly recommend this accommodation to others.

Great location, very comfortable cottage! We were 2 couples staying and found it spacious and loved waking up and overlooking the water! Check in is simple, the cottage well equipped and there wasn't anything more we needed. Anna is excellent about communicating and has great suggestions. A short drive to the bridge to Isle of Skye as well!

Cottage is in a stunning location with great views to Skye. It's the perfect choice if you're looking for a quiet location that offers great privacy. It's well equipped, and co-op is only a 5min drive away. I would recommend it.

Beautiful old cottage!

This was a wonderful place to stay in Balmacara, near Kyle of Lochalsh. The neighbors told us the history of the house. The area was wooded and quiet! I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

Lovely and secluded home

This is an older, historic home with lovely views of the lake. The home was well appointed and was great for our 3 days. Would definitely recommend it.

Very special location.Cool, spacious house.Some parts are a bit old—think of the bathroom and kitchen—but everything worked just fine.My advice is to replace all the pans in the kitchen with ones suitable for an electric stove.But overall, a very beautiful, unique, and enjoyable location.

After a few issues with the heating (which were resolved by host quickly), we really enjoyed our stay in this traditional cottage. Warm, comfortable, spacious, good views to Skye, host very responsive and helpful.

Lovely older home and good location for getting onto Isle of Skye. It rained quite heavily during our stay and was very windy. Something kept hitting the second floor of the house due to wind making it difficult to sleep. Skye is beautiful, even in the rain. It takes a while to drive to places, so plan accordingly.

The area was beautiful. We had an SUV that we could barely get through the gate & very hard to turn around. The house was old but very eclectic. It was damp & cold. It was kinda difficult having the bathroom on the first floor with all the bedrooms upstairs but luckily we didn’t have problems with stairs.

Close to Kyle and Skye with Fabulous Views

The vintage cottage was quite charming. Our family enjoyed the close proximity to Isle of Skye and the tranquility of being nestled in the woods after a full day of exploring. As others have stated - the views were beautiful, even in the rain!Host communications was excellent. They provided clear instructions and a list of things to see and do in the area. Home is close to groceries and dining options. Kitchen is stocked with all of the essentials. Beds are comfortable and extra blankets are available.

Amazing. Comfortable and welcoming. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well equipped. Loved the big soaker tub and shower. Heated towel racks were great. The views were fabulous. Easy access to Isle of Skye. Did a day trip to Loch Ness. Directions and instructions for arrival were great! We were challenged to operate the oven because the “labels” are faded and we don’t know the symbols (easy fix with a permanent marker). We had a 9 passenger van. It was tight to turn around at the top of the drive - not a problem, just a heads up for folks. Ask about parking elsewhere? Great spot!!

Great Views and location

This renovated cottage would be best for a family rather than elder adults. We found the stairs daunting and the tub unsafe climbing in and out. All the furnishings are adequate , some updating to the lounge furniture, beds, pillows would certainly enhance the stay. Access to the closet in the second bedroom would help. The one call to the manager was never returned. Once we found our way in, the quiet, peaceful setting was greatly appreciated.

Dear Bob, Thank very much for your time in writing this nice review. I am very glad that you enjoyed our renovations, and that you appreciated the wonderful, peaceful setting and fantastic views. I think you must have some wonderful photographs! In answer to your points the staircase is a broad (about 1m wide) staircase in the spacious entrance hall. So it is certainly not narrow, and nor does it ascend rapidly. It is actually much wider and easier to use than most staircases, because our house was built in the days when things were solid and spacious! On the bath, we went to considerable expense to keep and refurbish the large, full-length bath. It is a real, original cast iron enamelled bath worth over £2000. We took it out, and insulated it specially underneath before reinstalling it, so that it retains heat. Most of our guests love this! Because the bath is a restored genuine item, the sides of course are higher than a small modern bath as baths were at that time. I asked you what you meant about the closet, but received no reply., and so I am puzzled! The closets/wardrobes are of course always open, and available in all three bedrooms. So thank you again for your nice review, and I hope these comments are helpful.
