Wonderful location just a few houses down from the beach, and a few blocks away from the pier. The furniture was comfortable. The unit was clean. It had plenty of space for a small family. It had one guaranteed parking spot, so no street parking was necessary. Convenient to Wilmington and and other beaches on the coast. We will go back.

Do not stay here!

This house was terrible- rat trap boxes in kitchen and living room. The air conditioning broke was incredibly hot until repair man was sent. Bugs throughout house!!! Doors would not stay closed in bathroom and bedroom. A motel 8 stay would be better!

Reviewer Comments: Spears upper level is in a great location, a step away from the pristine Wrightsville Beach, and in walking distance to the eateries of the beach. The accommodations were good containing most of the amenities needed to make a great stay. The linens provided were a great plus. I was disappointed in the appliances and cookware provided - made it difficult to cook meals. I would recommend this property with suggesting persons renting if expecting to cook meals bring along the required cookware.

The first being giant cockroaches that came out every night while we were relaxing watching TV which freaked out my family. Also, 3 of the nights at 12:30 pm the tenant below played pop/dance music so loud it woke us up and it went on for 2 hours.

Rude downstairs tenants

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were only there 2 nights and the accommodations and location were fine. I would recommend if you have small children do not rent this unit. The tenants in the lower unit were not there the first night of our stay. On the second night we went out returning around 7:30 pm. Every time my 25 lb. 2 year old walked across the floor, the tenants below knocked on the ceiling. My grandson went to bed at 8 pm so they stopped at that point.

The house was humid inside that the couch and chairs felt wet. There were no blankets for the pull out sofa bed or the trundle bed. The guy who lives below the unit blast his music every night at 2:00am

Close to the Beach

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The best part about this rental is its location. Wrightsville Beach is wonderful and this rental has beach access at the end of the street and is close to lifeguard stands. Clean bed sheets and towels included, but bed spreads and pillow covers were not very clean upon arrival. Bring your own cooking utensils/casserole dishes/specialized dishes if you plan to cook. Beds not very comfortable, especially the master. We cleaned dust hanging from the ceiling air vents. No outside shower but access to a water hose. Again Wrightsville Beach is a lovely beach.

Family fun

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Everything was really nice; the house, the location, and the management company. The reason for the lower overall score was the downstairs neighbor (a permanent renter) had family or friends visiting and they had a baby. We have kids so I understand but they asked us on more than one occasion to have our kids be quite because the baby was trying to nap. Again we have kids so I understand but there were 2 dogs in their place that seemed to bark anytime someone walked down the street so it seemed extreme to ask us to be quieter when they were generating plenty of noise themselves. Plus it was just rather rude especially since one of the times was in the middle of the afternoon.

Property Under Construction

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The condo we were staying at was under construction during our entire stay. In the beginning it was only 1 painter who was working mostly on the back and side of the duplex, and we were fine with that. As the week progressed though more and more workers were on site. By Thursday there were about 6 guys on our front porch painting banisters and doors, which needed to be opened to do so. We had 3 young boys who enjoyed playing on the porch and the last thing we needed was wet paint! What upsets me the most is that on Friday after we checked out, a gentleman from Intracoastal came by to see the condition and said that he was going to have his supervisor call me and I still have not received a call. The whole situation was very poorly handled and we will not be using or recommending Intracoastal Realty in the future. The other nuisance we dealt with all week was poor air conditioning. A heating and air man came out to look at it our first day there and said everything looked fine but the unit got up to 80 degrees every night even with us being extra diligent about keeping the doors and blinds closed all day. So sorry this guest was not pleased with their stay! Guest reported AC issue upon check in, we sent out a tech from CBS Mechanical and there was nothing wrong with the AC. Guest did not report construction the entire week she was here until the day before check out, at which point we sent out maintenance tech over to tell them to leave. When he got onto the property, there was no sign of construction workers or any work being done. We checked with the owner of the property and she said they were not supposed to be there, but apparently the person who lives in the downstairs unit gave permission (and they did not have authority to do so). -MKR 7/1/13

Beach House with NO View

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rented or I should say my friend went to Wrightsville Beach to look at properties for rent the week of 6/12 to 6/19 2015. It was very close to the beach access walk but you cannot see the ocean. We had the upper floor as this house is split up and down. House was clean and comfortable BUT THE WEEK WAS UNUSUALLY HOT and the air conditioning in the afternoons did not work effectively in order to cool the unit down. TV worked, then didn't work, was fixed - worked a couple of days then stopped working the last day. We were told that Time Warner, the cable provider was having issues either due to maintenance or the excessive heat. Weird kitchen with a shaded opening to a small alcove and stairway to the unit beneath us. Did not like that and the door to the alcove would not lock. The people below us were lovely but long term renters. Therefore the front of this bi level home was a messy with junk and recyclables strewn all over. They have two dogs which I never saw walked so they urinate and defecate all over the yard. It's a veritable mine field. One night the dogs barked until 11:15 until one of them arrived home to feed and take them out. They had been left alone for probably 12 hours. Would I rent Spears Unit at 7 Heron Street again? No!

6/27/2015- We are so disappointed this guest didn't enjoy their stay! We have addressed the A/C issue with maintenance and the cable issue so neither will be an issue in the future! We also apologize for the issues with the long term renter, if we would have known we could have possibly moved the guest to a different unit. Hopefully this guest will return so we can show them a better experience.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have rented this unit 3 times previously, but sadly this last experience was not what we had hoped for. There are 3 important areas that need to be addressed: the mattresses are very old and not comfortable (or sanitary feeling), the couch that pulls into a bed is far too shabby, has a unfortunate incline and could not be used to put small children on (we had to buy air mattresses for the kids), and finally the porch furniture is worn out and 2 chairs and the table were not good quality. Previously, the porch is one of the best parts but not when the furniture is so tattered/budget. We have always liked that this property has easy beach access and the neighborhood is mostly quiet. We had 1 incident with loud music from the renter below after 10pm on Saturday. Most disappointing was that it appears that there hasn't been reinvestment by the owners in basic furnishings. The kitchen was adequate but missing things like a salad bowl, serving tray, sharp knives, etc. It seemed a hodge-podge but we mostly eat out. Closets had like 3 hangers and very little was left for toiletries such as soap at the bathroom sinks. There was some mildew on the ceiling in the queen bedroom that was concerning for health reasons. There were odd things left in small piles like paint cans and laundry basket with extra kitchen cushions and table lamp that don't have a real home. Without knowledge of significant updates, we won't consider in the future.

NOISE!! NOISE!! NOISE!!!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: If your looking for a quiet peaceful retreat, this is not your place! The long term rental that is below this unit has 2 guys that keep odd hours. Constant door slamming(often at 3am) Both are smokers and both drive loud trucks. Owner across the street has son that has rock band practice at their house at least 3 days a week. Extremely obnoxious and LOUD!! Landscaping is in need of attention, a lot of dead shrubs and trash on property. Definitely no ocean view!!!

Hidden Gem

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I was leery about no current reviews on this site. However, we LOVED our stay and will stay here again! The long term renters below were awesome and helpful. The beds were comfortable and cool in the evening. Kitchen was outfitted with all your needs. The only recommendation for this property owner would be to supply a hair dryer in the bathrooms. Thankfully, I have a lot of family here in Wilmington, I just borrowed one of theirs. I hope you enjoy this hidden gem as much as we have. Until again Wrightsville Beach xoxo

Wrightsville Beach Vacation June 2021

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at the Spears upper level. We found the place very clean, no signs of pests, It’s within walking distance to the beach and the pier. The beds were comfortable. The porch was big with lots of chairs to sit and watch the rain or enjoy the ocean breeze. The whole place was decorated cute and was very welcoming. We didn’t want to leave and look forward to returning.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Hello, Fabulous vacation for 15th year in a row, we are thrilled with the house. An outside shower/shower head on the left side of the stairs would be a big help in rinsing off from the beach before going inside. Two very minor details, no cutting board this year and the can opener didn't work very well (things I would want to know if it were my property). Thanks as always for a terrific vacation, we'll be back next year! Barbara

Great Vacation Rental

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Would definitely rent here again. Not Ocean View but very close to beach with easy access. Rental is far enough away from Bar Noise but close enough to walk if you wanted to go. Property was very clean, kitchen was well stocked and more than enough linens,towels were provided. Very quiet location with good parking (3-4 cars) Loved the deck with rocking chairs. Would definitely recommend Spears Upper Unit.

Terrific location, comfy home

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The best thing about this unit is that it is mere steps away from the beach. The unit itself is fine. There is a very nice front porch, the kitchen has the basics anyone will need, the wifi is reliable and reaches to the front porch, and the beds were comfortable. This was our second stay at Spears Upper unit. There really is not an ocean view, but you can hear the ocean, which I really enjoyed while sitting on the front porch. We will come back again!

Reviewer Comments: Positives: Location is great, two minute walk to the beach Small space but great for one or two small families Bed linens and bath towels included for no extra charge Free wifi and premium channels Easy walking distance to shops, convenient Beach with lifeguard Property mgmt company extremely responsive Negatives: No beach chairs or toys Kitchen sparsely appointed (few dishes, no dish soap or paper products) Cooking a meal here would be a little challenging Not a lot of seating in the common area (unless using the kitchen table) No outside sun on deck, house gets very little natural light
