The house was great! It seemed bigger or more spacious in person than in the pics. The living room fireplace is tricky to get started but once the host explained how to do it, it was fine after that. For skiers or snowboarders there is a catwalk at the top of the street that you can easily access the gondola with. Hot tub was very roomy. Comfortably seats 3 couples or 5 adults. Wonderful view of the mountains from the living room and hot tub. The deck is very large.

Excellent accommodation! There are six bedrooms which is perfect for large groups. Very well appointed with all the amenities you would need for a large group. Very clean as well. Second time staying there and would again.

Amazing Ski Cabin

Great trip with 5 friends. The place is beautiful, clean, and kitchen with everything you need. Location is perfect, quiet and easy access to the lifts. The hot tub was well maintained and good communication with the owner.

Moto Adventure

We had a lovely stay at Kicking Horse Resort. Took advantage of the smaller crowds and rode the gondola at the resort instead of Banff. The town of Golden was about 10 minutes down the hill in beautiful country. The house was well stocked, we cooked dinner one night and lounged about the house. Lots of room to store and dry out all of our moto gear. Loved the ability to park our motorcycles indoors at night. We did not take advantage of the hot tub, instead went to hot springs, but we almost did. Beds were comfortable and the showers were delightful with non ending hot water and our skin felt refreshed due to the soft water. Also, the hosts were quite responsive for any questions that came up. Thank you! Would stay again if we find ourselves in the area.

Well appointed on-mountain luxury chalet was perfect for our needs

We stayed here for 6 nights at the beginning of March, 2016. The house was tidy and clean. There were ample amenities for cooking and the furniture and appliances were all in great shape and working well. The media system was great for music around the house although for some it could be a little confusing. The manual for the home was easy to find and the owner Rob was very responsive. The mud room is great for storing and drying all your gear after a long day of skiing on the mountain. The hot tub was well kept, easy to use, with lots of towels. It is checked and serviced regularly. You can tell this property is not used purely for rental purposes, kids toys and other items not usually in a rental house were visible. I found this to be a positive because I believe it shows that Rob has pride of ownership and cares more about this house than most investment only owners. It also means he is more meticulous when it comes to agreements, policies, and the like. I have stayed in 2 different homes on mountain at Kicking Horse and I think they were both very luxurious and charming. It's hard to say that one house is a lot nicer than the other. I think the main advantage to this home is the customer service of Rob, and the proximity to the hill. The main disadvantage was requiring the damage deposit at the time of booking rather than at the time of check-in. This cost us in interest fees on our credit card used for the deposit and the loss of credit space for 2 months before our stay.

Beautiful property

This property is just as nice as the pictures. It is clean, well maintained and has loads of extra features that made our four nights here very comfortable. The hot tub is clean and beautifully maintained...same for the gas grill. The beds were comfortable, the towels fluffy, and the large laundry room/locker room right by the hot tub very handy. The view of the mountains from the front deck and the back hot tub are lovely. it was really the "extras" that made this the most pleasurable place we've rented. The kitchen was truly stocked for cooking. We've rented places where there is 1 pan and 1 pot....not Tara Vista! There was even a selection of Tupperware so we could store our leftovers and not waste food. The owners left all their spices, condiments, and things aluminum foil so you don't have to buy a whole bottle of ketchup or salad dressing to use one time. The same with the laundry detergent - so nice not to have to buy a whole container in order to do two loads! The owners have a solid DVD collection and after all our hiking and white water rafting during the day it was lovely to soak in the hot tub, cook dinner, and relax with the Oceans 11 trilogy :) Rob was very responsive to my emails and phone calls when I was considering the property and signing up to rent the property. We only had one question during our visit and Tara answered the phone and the question quickly. The only disadvantage of this property was mentioned in a previous review - a high damage deposit ($1,500 CAD) which is due along with the rent at time of booking. The damage deposit credit showed up on our credit card nine days after we checked out. This property is quite beautiful and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Golden area. Thank you to Rob and Tara for sharing your home with us!

Vaste maison au pied de la montagne

Excellent accueil de la part de Robert avec réponses rapides à nos questions. La maison est vaste et peut facilement accueillir 5 à 6 couples. Il y a plusieurs équipements amusants: table de ping pong, jacuzzi, mutiples jeux de société pour tous les âges. La cuisine est bien équipée pour faire des repas avec multiples convives. Plusieurs petites attentions présentes: café, thé, confiments, huiles, épices, etc…Nous avons fait de la randonnée au parc Soho. La montagne de Kicking Horse l’été est principalement utilisée pour le vélo de montagne, il n’y a que 2 pistes de randonnée au sommet. Le skyline de Golden et sa station d’hébertisme ont été appréciés par ceux qui aiment les hauteurs. Nous avons aussi rencontré Boo l’ours, qui vit en refuge dans un enclos sur la montagne. Nous espérons y retourner l’hiver pour skier. Location fortement recommendée.

Family Ski Trip

Communication with the owner was excellent. We had very quick responses to our questions (Wi-Fi password, a toaster that was not working etc). The house was very well supplied with children’s toys and dishes and even sleds for outdoor use (which was great for our group as we had young children with us). The two bedrooms in the basement were smaller than expected but worked okay for us as we only needed to use one. Maybe a throw rug on the floor to help warm up the rooms would be a nice touch. The house had a very well stocked kitchen and we appreciated the amount of dishes & cutlery as well as the spices, cooking oil etc. The dishwasher unfortunately was not working, however the owner notified us in and advance of check in and thoughtfully offered some of his wine supply to ease the burden ;)

Winter Wonderland

We had a great stay despite an unfortunate trip to the hospital! The home was warm, cozy and comfort for our ski trip before Christmas. We did end up in the emergency room on day two of skiing however everyone involved was wonderful and helpful!! Thank you Golden and Kicking Horse!

We are a family from Southern Alberta who have long dreamed of owning a recreational ski property in the majestic BC Rockies.

We always enjoyed the skiing offered at KHMR, as the snow is world class. Some time ago we attended a wedding at the summit of the mountain (Eagle Eye) and quite simply fell in love with Kicking Horse. We decided then and there this would be the place we'd call our 'Home away from home'. The home will be complete in early December 2014 and we can't wait to begin making memories. We hope others can enjoy in what we have created and can make some memories of their own!
