Die Big Pine Lodge ist ein wunderschönes Haus auf zwei Ebenen mit 3 Schlafzimmern, 2 Bädern, Block- und Felsbalken, einem Dachboden und Platz für bis zu 9 Gäste. Die gut ausgestattete Küche verfügt über Granit, Küchengeräte aus Edelstahl, eine Müllabfuhr und einen Geschirrspüler. Das Haus hat auch eine Waschmaschine und Trockner. Es gibt einen geräumigen Wohnbereich mit einem Holzofen (Brennholz wird in der Saison bereitgestellt), Sat-TV und WLAN. Great Stay

This is a beautiful cabin and I can highly recommend it! Our family of 3 adults and 3 twens just spent a few days there after the New Year. We loved the rustic decor, floor plan (there is a loft and a bedroom/bath upstairs and two nice sized bedrooms and a bath downstairs) and well-equipped kitchen. The furnace and the fireplace worked fantastic and we had a warm and cozy house. Beds were comfy and the rooms/baths very clean. WiFi is available, but there is no big TV or other electronic entertainment besides a DVD player - and a handful of old DVDs. Hence, this cabin is for winding down! Bring your books, games and puzzles! Regarding Wawona: the village is great starting point for any Yosemity adventure. We did some fun hikes in the snow in Mariposa Grove and Yosemite valley. Since Wawona only has a small grocery store, its best to bring all your food/drinks before to avoid trips back to the next bigger supermarket, which is in Oakhurst. I would book this house again in a heartbeat.

Rustic cabin in the park

Positives: great forest cabin experience, good amount of space, a block to the small Pine Tree market, close to Chilnualna Falls trailhead, nice barbeque grill that worked great, cabin well kept, located inside the park so we avoided entrance lines Negatives: dated furnishings, beds weren't great, board games in the house would have been nice Overall, it was pretty much what you would expect from an older, somewhat rustic cabin in the woods, which was great for us!

Cozy and quiet -- but not quite what we expected

This cabin was easy to find, easy to park. Convenient layout. Could definitely sleep 8 people. Sitting on the deck is nice, quiet. The location wasn't quite what we expected, I have to say -- the photos suggest the cabin is in the woods, but it's actually in a neighborhood, in the woods, surrounded by other houses, a few small cabins, and a bunch of outbuildings. The rooms are also smaller and darker than the photos suggest. It's a cozy place, but not a lot of sunlight is coming in. Beds were reasonably comfortable, but the pillows and linens could use an update. We really liked staying in Wawona, for sure -- way less hectic than Yosemite Valley. That's a big plus.. The Redwoods management was easy to work with too. The cabin is close to the little store there as well, which was really handy for us.

Perfect for 2 families with kids

We had a perfect time in Big Pine Lodge, traveling with 4 adults and 3 kids, aged 4, 5, and 6. When we arrived late after the office closed, it was easy to find the envelope in the box outside that had the keys and a well-marked map to our cabin. The cabin was spotless and ready with everything we needed. Rooms were comfortable and well appointed, including a kitchen with plenty of dishes and cookware. The gas grill on the deck worked great. Living and dining rooms were very comfortable for gathering with family. Having two full bathrooms was a big plus for sharing a cabin with 4 adults and three little kids. The store was a 50 yard walk through the woods and was well stocked with any groceries we forgot. The office staff were very professional and helpful. In all, a great stay. We paid more than we are used to for vacation lodging, but felt we really got our money's worth with a super clean, comfortable, well-appointed, and well-managed cabin that made it easy for everyone to relax when traveling with small kids.

New Years Yosemite

The cabin itself was wonderful. Loved all the amenities. We were only 4 after all, but the space was great and the kitchen appliances and amount of eating utensils and such were fantastic. The wine glasses where a little to high to reach:) The water pressure was very low in the down stairs bathroom, as we are also into conservation, it took much longer rinsing then normal, where we usually just turn our shower off, but could not do this. We used the wood burning stove, and were new to this. Coming in late the first evening with no instructions on how to start/ open the flue or control the damper we were worried that things would not work. eventually we got the fire started. We had brought our own starter logs as there were NONE there and no kindling or paper to help. That situation along with no map of Yosemite Valley was a little troublesome. And the wall heater worked great only to make the upstairs unbearable in the night!. Wish there had been separate controls for upstairs and and down. But it was a nice warm feeling cabin and we did enjoy the stay. lastly, I would have expected the property managers to have cleared off the stairs and deck to enable us to get into the cabin without worry. It was very icy and we never knew where the shovel was until the last day... Having access in the park was great, with chains on it took over an hour to get to the Valley floor- Ahwahnee. 30-45 minutes to Badger Pass. I think next time we will try to get closer and rent in West Yosemite.

Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed the cabin. Normally when guests come into the office to check in, we give them fire starter packs, kindling & newspaper to make it easier to start the fires. We do not leave these laying around in an unoccupied cabin. When you come through the Park entrance and pay the fee, you are given a map of all of Yosemite, so we do not supply said map to our guests. At anytime you can call the office and ask for help in which we would gladly come out and help you in any way possible. We have staff on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in order to make our guests as comfortable as possible.

Home was in a good location between Mariposa grove and the valley. A small store within walking distance had all the basic food staples to feed our family for the week. The home was older with some updates needed. It was a great layout with three bedrooms and a loft. The kitchen cookware was ok, but missing a few basic utensils. There were some small annoying things about the house that kept me from giving it 5 stars like broken wheels on the dishwasher basket, flat bed pillows and wore out mattresses. I would come back given the opportunity because of all the positives though. We had a blast hiking from the house and swimming in the nearby river. The neighborhood was super quiet with friendly neighbors and daily wildlife sightings. If your looking for a house near the south entrance, I would recommend this one, just know it has some opportunity for improvement.

Great house but be aware of the picnic table.

Great house but be aware of the picnic table. The cabin was neat and clean. The beds were comfortable. Be aware though if you put three adults on one side of the picnic table it will flip over on you. No one was hurt and it made for a funny vacation story. Just think there should be a warning for future visitors. Our picnic table with an attached bench at home does not do that.

Very nice property. I thought there might be a problem with no AC when the temperature was in the 90s, but opening the screened windows at night and closing the curtains when we went out was all that was needed to be comfortable. The only minor quibbles. The Internet gets too slow for movie streaming most days between about 6pm and 8pm. (presumably when everyone is getting back from their day) Not a big deal, but it did make our kid antsy about getting back before everyone else. Two of the ceiling fans weirdly had one or two blades backwards, which negated their effectiveness.

Our recent stay

The property and location of it is not what you see in the pictures. I’ll be shocked if you don’t get disappointed in first place. Be prepared for that Water pressure was bad until they fixed it a day later Inside is too dark and sad. Doesn’t give you a positive feeling. It’s like an old grandmas house Who drives 6 hours to BBQ on a propane grill. I want wood fire which you’re not allowed. Big bummer
