This review was based on just our one lakeside cottage - which is now listed under Keuka Lakeside Darling on the VRBO site. We now sleep 8 comfortably! The Fall colors will be spectacular to see! We're booking up fast - so don't wait too long!

Thank you for your comments, Ellen. This issue has been fixed with a new router! This was, as it turned out a Spectrum issue, with several outages in our area. Also the fact that the tech that they sent out during your stay did not provide me with a new router that I had requested. You're right - no central air. in the main house. There is great central a/c in the guest house, however! Our unusually warm weather can be an issue for some that prefer to stay indoors, but we hope that the added fans and the fact that the bedrooms are air conditioned helped The lake is still a great place to cool down. We hope you return! Promise no internet issues!

Brand new bathroom in guest cottage - and we've fixed the water pressure issue. Have been here at Blacksmith Cove for over a month-with no pressure issues! However, can't run washer and take showers at the same time. Thanks for your review!

So glad you all had a great time, and wanted to thank you for your detailed review. We will definitely work on getting certain personal items put away...but we do want our guests to enjoy some of our "things"..obviously not our clothes! I think you're referring to the dresser in the guest room of the main house. That dresser has always had a little sign explaining that it is a delicate antique dresser that was my grandmothers - and the one piece of furniture that we ask guests to not touch. We'll get the sign back up which will explain all that and why there were clothes in there! Did you not find our "hidden" lights? There are multiple switches throughout the house, and some are a little hard to find - but the two track lights in the living room as well as one table lamp and the floor lamp usually is enough - at least for us. Sorry you found it dark. Our master bedroom closet I hope was empty - as well as the drawers. If not-I wonder whose clothes were in there! We'll be more careful about this in the future! And you're right about our bathroom vanity. That is the one area we forgot to clean out! Regarding the guest house being dusty - I'll speak to my cleaning staff. That's inexcusable! It does somehow get dusty around the TV for some reason - but other than that you shouldn't see any dust! Thanks again!

This review is for our small guest cottage only. These guests did not stay in both cottages. We have a new - and improved cleaning staff this year as well. We sincerely appreciate your extensive review of our property. We have reviewed your comments regarding "spider webs" with our cleaning staff, and have personally done a walk-thru to make certain that the spider webs that you referred to were mostly cobwebs...which are not created by spiders. Two of the bedrooms, the living room and the bathroom were painted just 3 weeks ago (with a thorough cleaning to walls and baseboards, but we sometimes find, for some reason, the cobwebs appear almost overnight near the lake. Re: pillows...I take my own with me everywhere. I'm picky about pillows too! Kitchen reference: I just had purchased a brand new set of 3 skillets, and had on hand several aluminum (throw away) baking pans, pots and pans and a large glass rectangular baking pan for lasagna or other casserole-type meals. The majority of our guests grill on the beach, but have not had anyone mention that the kitchen was inadequate for any type of cooking. Oven/range and microwave work well, per my latest inspection. Admittedly, it is not a gourmet kitchen by any stretch...but we have had some awesome meals prepared there by many of our friends and guests! Seating: The majority of our guests utilize the covered deck facing the lake which has seating for at least 12 people. The bedroom wicker chairs are intended as chairs to be moved around the cottage as needed. Glad you did that. The cottage is not huge, but generally our guests are out on the deck, at the beach...or out for most of the evening so we've not had this issue arise before. We notice that many of our Spring and Fall guests eat most of their meals out - or eat outside at the picnic table on the deck... which seats eight. Re: linens. I personally washed all bed linens and put them on the beds the day before your arrival. That comment puzzles us. We are pleased that you found the cottage priced right and beautifully located. You were great guests, respected our property and left our cottage in immaculate condition. We would certainly welcome you back again any time.

As you must know...we strive for 5 star and love knowing that our property worked well for you and your family! Disappointed that our carpets needed cleaning. We have a fabulous carpet cleaner on premises that should have been used to clean the carpets before you arrived. Late check-out of previous guests may have caused this not to happen. As you can imagine - when it rains - wet feet walking through the houses must have left dirt. This will be taken care of asap! I will stress to future guests to really look hard at floors and carpets, countertops, etc. during their walk thru with our concierge. If it isn't PERFECT- our cleaning staff is instructed to make it so before they leave. Regarding a/c - we will be providing window/room air conditioners next season in each bedroom. This was a rare year of heat - and never in all of our years of renting has anyone asked for air conditioning. This, however, will be rectified next year!
