The house is gorgeous and full of heritage brocante Ile de Re decor. The garden is delightful - outside dining plus a charming green glade overhung by a very old olive and fig tree. The only low points were discovering, four days before arriving, that both bath and hand towels were not supplied, and no change of bed linen or cleaning was available during our stay. Cleaning WAS available after our departure for the cash payment of Euros 80. We were there for three weeks. Happily we were travelling by car, so could fill an IKEA bag with towels, and cross our fingers that we could work the washing machine. The other slight glitch was that on arrival, because the house details did not say that the house is at the end of an alley way, and not on the main rue de la Sardinerie, we were not sure which door to knock on, knowing that our hostess was there, as we had prearranged the time of arrival. We did knock on what we thought was the front door - as it had the number 39 over it - but there was no reply. We eventually found a garden gate and pushed it, and our hostess was there, but had not acknowledged the knock on the front door. A small thing, I know, but not a great start. There was a kind packet of delicious local biscuits in kitchen, but all other things had to be bought, so a trip to Carrefour was necessary before a cup of tea was available. In summary, it is gorgeous, but given the cost, we expected the little extras.
