As a multi-generational family, Hummingbird Nest was truly a magical place and was perfect to use as a landing spot for our vacation to Colorado.We really appreciated so much about this place, including: - the electric blankets were a nice touch on the crisp mornings- the linens were top notch- everything you need, including any condiment you could think of, is in the kitchen- feeding the birds in the morning was a memory-in-the-making- really glad the little kids brought their water shoes. The creek outside the backdoor was a constant entertainment for the grandchildren- Communication was polite and prompt with the owners

This truly was a dream house nestled in the mountains. The stream running next to the cabin was amazing. Our kids loved playing along the banks and I loved sitting on the deck listening to the stream. Plenty of space for our family of 5. I would definitely recommend it to everyone!

Amazing trip! The home was very clean and well stocked. I have never seen so many hummingbirds in one location in my life! We would definitely go back. We spent most of our time near Idaho Springs, which is a short drive away and a fun little mountain town. Road the Georgetown Loop railroad. Hike to St. Mary's Glacier and drove the Blue Mountain scenic by-way. Even drove to Breckenridge for a day. The location of the home allows for access to so much in the area. We loved hearing the creek right outside the home, while sitting and enjoying the mountain air. Will definitely be back!

Wonderful summertime stay, next to stream.

Our family had a wonderful stay at this property. Check in was easy, communication with the hosts was convenient. The location is spectacular in the mountains with your own little stream right out the door. We enjoyed having dinner on the balcony and sleeping with the windows open listing to the river. We had a very good time at Hummingbird Nest with our family. The creek is beautiful and relaxing right outside the door. Plenty of space for us to spread out, but also to gather together for meals and playing games. Lots of amenities to make the stay comfortable! It is about 10-15 minutes out of town on an unpaved road, but it is perfect for a vacation getaway!

Wonderful vacation rental

This cabin is the perfect place to stay. It is in a great location that is easy to navigate. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. You will love the showers!! It definitely earns the name of Hummingbird Nest. We were entertained thoughout the week by watching the hummingbirds. At one time, there were at least 30 birds fighting over the 4 feeders.

The moment we arrived, we knew we had found something truly special. The location is absolutely perfect. This cabin is nestled in the woods beside a beautiful creek, with breathtaking views that make you feel completely immersed in nature, yet it's only minutes from the charming, historic town of Central City. It was the perfect home base for exploring the area. We even took a day trip to ride the Georgetown Loop Railroad, but had we never even left the cabin, that would have been just as well. The cabin itself is nothing short of spectacular. It feels like an architectural work of art and you can tell an incredible amount of thought and care went into every single detail of its design. It's also stocked with absolutely everything you could possibly need. You could pack incredibly light and still have everything at your fingertips. One of our favorite parts of the stay was opening the windows at night and falling asleep to the sounds of the creek just a few feet away. Every morning, we enjoyed breakfast on the deck while hummingbirds buzzed around us. It was dreamlike. It felt peaceful, luxurious, and incredibly cozy all at the same time. We loved it so much that we tried to extend our stay by an extra night. The owners were unbelievably accommodating, but unfortunately we couldn't get our flights changed. Their kindness and flexibility only added to an already exceptional experience. We are over the moon with having found this place and will be returning!

Owners Dennis and Deanna Kuder have been working on this home for nearly 20 years now. Dennis owns a sawmill in Kansas and has milled much of the lumber used in the interior and exterior of the home. They have enjoyed planning and working on unique features, along with their son Jason. Together they have developed the perfect getaway that they want to share with others. They have tried to provide things that will make you feel at home. If you need it, it's likely there. Your comfort is their goal.

There is so much history in the Black Hawk/Central City area, and there is so much to do. We have enjoyed using Hummingbird Nest as a base for journeying out on day trips. It is the perfect location to visit so many wonderful places. There are amazing things going on all the time and new things added all the time.
But most of all, we enjoy the peace and quiet of just being at home. The hummingbirds are always flitting around in the summer. We have had turkey pay us a visit, as well as a moose. Though we have never seen bears, our neighbors tell us they have seen them around. The summers are cool, and winters are quiet and toasty warm by the fire. We enjoy the time we are there and long to share our bit of paradise with others, too!

We have always tried to make our home welcoming to guests. We want them to feel at home and open to settling in like they are at home. If it is there, feel free to use it. The kitchen is stocked with seasonings of all kinds. Use anything you need.
Our location is perfect for all tastes. There is something for everyone, and we want everyone to enjoy their stay. Each guest will be assigned an entry code so their access will be easy, and the carport allows you to have access for unloading your gear, regardless of the weather outside.
