The Pondside Cabin Retreat — A True Cabin Escape

Welcome to The Pondside Cabin Retreat, a cozy Southern Illinois escape just minutes from Kinkaid Lake and Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Thoughtfully designed to make the most of its space, this small, one-level cabin offers everything you need for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature.

The cabin features one bedroom with two sets of bunk beds, making it ideal for families or small groups. A full bathroom with a walk-in shower is located just off the main living area. The open-concept layout combines a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable living space, creating the perfect place to cook, gather, enjoy the TV and unwind after a day of exploring.

Step outside to enjoy the covered porch overlooking the pond, where ducks and geese drift across the water and goats roam nearby. The porch provides two comfortable gliders, outdoor speakers and a bar that seats four.

Whether you’re spending your days on Kinkaid Lake, exploring the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, hiking in Shawnee National Forest, attending an event at SIU, or simply relaxing in the quiet countryside, The Pondside Cabin Retreat is the perfect home base for your Southern Illinois adventure.

● The cabin is located on a shared property that also includes our private residence across the pond and privately owned barns adjacent to the cabin. Guests are welcome to enjoy the immediate area surrounding the cabin, but we ask that you respect the privacy of the rest of the property.

● The pond is provided for its scenic beauty only. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, boating, and other water activities are not permitted.

● The barns and surrounding farm buildings are private property and are not accessible to guests.

● This is an active working farm. You may occasionally see or hear tractors, farm equipment, or other vehicles traveling along the lane near the cabin as part of normal farm operations.
