Climb up the widow's walk and enjoy views of Katama Bay, Nantucket, South Beach, Pocha Pond, East Beach and amazing sunsets. Inside you will find plenty of seating for dining and relaxing, a TV with streaming, a pantry and a 1/2 bath. You are surrounded by ocean, beaches, walking and bike paths on the mostly sand-packed Chappy trails.Not to brag, but Wasque is home to some of the best fishing on the east coast. Get an OSV permit and all of Chappy awaits your exploration.

Owned by the same family for over 45 years, this comfortable home is well-stocked with games, puzzles, books, beach chairs, crab nets and clam rakes,* fishing poles, life jackets, 2 kayaks, gas grill, lobster pot, small cooler and a full array of kitchen appliances and supplies. With a large desk and sleep sofa on the mezzanine level, this home is a perfect location for vacations, fishing or remote work (we have high-speed wireless internet), away from the traffic and crowds of the main island. The original owners were a politically active professor and master quilter who travelled the world. The house bears their stamp.

The first floor has 3 bedrooms and a full bath - a queen bedroom with sliding doors to a deck; a king (or two twin) bedroom with a screened in porch, and a room with 2 twin bunk beds. This level has an outdoor shower and a wrap-around deck leading to a walkway that takes you to a separate guesthouse with a 4th bedroom - a queen bed, a sitting area with a couch and a second desk, an indoor 1/2 bath and attached outdoor shower. The ground level has a walk-in basement with washer, dryer and second refrigerator. A clam and fish-cleaning station is located in the side yard. The main living area and 2 bedrooms downstairs have air conditioning (through mini-splits); the bunk room and guest house have fans. This sounds abundant, but you won't have to be careful with the designer furniture - there isn't any.

Katama Bay - great for kayaking, talking a dip, clamming or walking on the beach - is just an 8-10 minute walk from the house. Wasque Point and South Beach are a 5 minute drive or 15-20 minute walk, and the Pocha Pond viewing station is a 15 minute walk. East Beach, North Neck, the My Toi Japanese garden, Cape Pogue Bay, the Chappy Community Center, Slip Away Farm and Chappy Point are only 4-5 miles from the house, an easy bike ride or short drive,

A car is essential; Chappy has a small (seasonal) store and a farmstand open on weekends but you will need to to into Edgartown for most groceries. We provide beach, bath and kitchen towels; you will need to bring (or rent) bed linens. But you will not lack for bays, ponds, surf, beaches, walking trails, blueberries, grapes or beach plums (in season).

We like to work with our renters to ensure a smooth rental experience. For example, since there are many stairs, both inside and outside the house, it is not very safe for children under 3 who are actively crawling or early walkers/runners. However, if you are traveling with an infant who is not crawling, that would be fine. And while there is a 5 day minimum rental period during the summer, you need ferry tickets to get here. If you have difficulty purchasing tickets, we may be able to be flexible with rental dates.

*A clamming license is required and can be obtained from Edgartown Town Hall for a fee. A saltwater fishing license can be obtained from https://www.mass.gov/buy-fishing-ot-hunting-licenses. and also a wonderful fishing place in north neck and also Japanese garden in east beach and the east beach is 9 minutes drive
