Newly Reno’d Rustic Home at “Old Mill in Rhome” - Short Drive to Ft. Worth
My wife, Kelly, and I are proud to own (and co-host) this charming, spacious 2,000 sq. ft. home that we just completely renovated in 2025. Please note that a railroad runs through the back of the property. It is only feet from the house so if you’re a light sleeper, this isn’t the place for you.
6 separate rooms (2 bedrooms)-
In the old grainhouse behind the old mill, “The Grainhouse Tavern” has 2 big living rooms with tall ceilings and 2 fireplaces, a full sized kitchen with walk-in pantry, a large walk-in closet in the smaller bedroom, a large study, two large smart tvs, and a giant porch that is 8 feet deep.
The Full-Sized Kitchen and Additional Kitchen Amenities-
The full-sized kitchen has a 20 foot bar top with 8 bar stools, a Toshiba countertop oven, a full sized fridge, a microwave, a Keurig coffee maker, a dishwasher, and a walk-in pantry. Pots, skillets, cooking utensils, plateware, silverware, cups, glassware, and coffee mugs are provided.
There is a mini-fridge, an additional keurig coffee maker, and an additional microwave in the large bedroom.
Bedrooms and Additional Sleeping-
The two bedrooms have comfortable queen sized beds with adequate linens.
Additional guests can sleep on the large couch or on the two queen sized air mattresses. The automatic air pumps and linens are provided for the sofa, and two air mattresses.
The Study-
We have a large study that you can use to read, study, or get work done.
The Porch-
The porch is over forty feet long and eight feet deep. There is a total of five rocking chairs for you to enjoy the serenity of the Old Mill property.
“The Old Mill in Rhome”-
The Rhome Milling Company occupied the property for the greater part of the 20th Century. The old rock building that was used as the mill house dates back to 1883. The mill was the original producer of “Gold Medal Flour.” LW Renshaw, the owner of the mill during most of the years it was in operation, sold the trademark for “Gold Medal Flour” to General Mills in the 1920s. The mill ceased operations in the 1960s. Since then, the property has been used for several different enterprises. During the 1980s, the American Art Foundry operated on the property. When the Lady Liberty statue on top of the Texas Capitol was removed for renovations - the only time she has come down since the Capitol was built in the 1880s - she was brought to the property for restoration. In the photos, you’ll see her arriving at The Old Mill property and standing upright in the yard behind the grain house - after her preservation was completed.
