This secluded 3-bedroom house is on the shore of Echo Lake, right on the Fayette / Readfield town line.
The house has 3 bedrooms with a total of 4 beds, and a full bath. There is a large common area with a full kitchen, dinner table, living area, and an iconic hanging fireplace. There is also a large deck.
Amenities include a private dock, kayaks & canoes, a fire pit, a portable barbecue, board games & puzzles, and a wide collection of books. You may bring your own fishing gear and watercraft (water depth at the dock can vary, but should be at least 5 feet).
Wireless internet and cell service are both available, but can be spotty. The tap water comes from the lake, and is not suitable for drinking. Sheets and towels are provided for a $100 laundry fee (guests can alternatively bring their own).
Echo Lake is a wonderful 1,185 acre lake -- formerly called "Crochet Pond" because it's shaped like a pair of pants. The house is at the right "foot" of the lake, in an area cordoned off by a shallow channel that deters the campers and residents from busier sections of the lake from boating over. Local wildlife includes bass, perch, sunfish, loons, quail, deer, and turtles. There is a boat launch on the "top" (north) of the lake at West Mount Vernon on Rt. 41.
