Architect-Designed Luxury Condo

I am an FSU alum and hold master’s degrees in architecture and engineering, having studied at both the Rhode Island School of Design and Florida State University. While serving as a Visiting Assistant Professor, I purchased this condo and completely redesigned and built the interior myself. The space was conceived as a living laboratory, allowing me to test experimental design ideas at full scale while still functioning as a comfortable and refined home.

During my time teaching, I directed a 3D printing lab and CNC fabrication shop, and many of the custom architectural elements and integrated artworks in the condo were designed and produced using these tools. The residence reflects a hands-on process that blends advanced fabrication, craftsmanship, and creative exploration.

Materials throughout the condo were thoughtfully sourced, including many acquired at a going-out-of-business auction, resulting in unique finishes and custom solutions that contribute to the one-of-a-kind character of the space.

I recently relocated to my home state of New Mexico, where I am now working as an engineer. I am pleased to share this condo—and the work embodied in it—with future guests. My goal is to offer a quiet, well-designed environment for professionals, visiting faculty, and other travelers seeking an elevated and distinctive stay in downtown Tallahassee.

I chose this neighborhood for its unique blend of academic, civic, and professional energy. Its close proximity to Florida State University places it within an active intellectual environment, while being surrounded by the State Capitol and downtown business community creates a setting shaped by ideas, policy, and professional exchange.

What I enjoy most about the neighborhood is its walkability and sense of purpose. It’s common to see students, faculty, legislators, and professionals moving between campus, offices, and downtown cafés. The area feels engaged and thoughtful rather than tourist-driven, offering a calm, focused atmosphere that’s ideal for work, study, and reflection. Despite being centrally located, it maintains a quieter residential feel, making it a comfortable and inspiring place to live and stay.

This property is unique because it was personally designed and built by its owner as an experimental architectural project rather than a conventional rental. Every element of the interior—from spatial layout to custom-built components and integrated artwork—was thoughtfully conceived and fabricated specifically for this space.

Unlike typical condos, the residence functions as both a comfortable home and a curated environment, featuring museum-scale artwork and custom details produced using advanced fabrication tools such as 3D printing and CNC machining. Many materials were selectively sourced and repurposed, resulting in finishes and design solutions that are difficult to replicate.

The condo’s location further distinguishes it: situated one block from FSU’s College of Business and within walking distance of the State Capitol, it offers a refined, quiet alternative to hotels for professionals, visiting faculty, and Legislative Session guests seeking proximity without sacrificing privacy or quality.

Together, the architecture, artwork, fabrication process, and location create a one-of-a-kind stay that goes well beyond a standard rental experience.
