Except for a glancing blow due to Hurricane Nicole and some heavy surf, the weather was great. This beach is good for walking long distances, either north or south. Overall it was a great time and we love this area but I will say our condo was showing lots of wear. While the beds and bathrooms were clean, much of the condo wasn’t. Furnishings were dated and in need of repairs. I’m sure we’ll visit the area again but would request a different unit.

Sand Cay is paradise!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed in this unit 2 times now. It is nicely decorated and we had a great stay. The only negative I would say is that there is not a working vacuum in the unit (the same broken one that was there last year during our stay that didn't work) and it would have been nice to be able to clean during the week. I have also suggested to Sand Cay to convert the door locks to a digital system because it's hard for 6 people staying in a unit to only have use of 2 keys. The staff at Sand Cay are great and this is just an all around great place to stay!!

Horrible Smell in Condo

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Upon checking in, we were hit with a horrible fish smell in the condo. The maintenance man came and checked out everything but could not determine where the smell came from. The front office sent the cleaning lady over, who didn't speak English, and she sprayed a little Lysol around the refrigerator and left. The smell was bad for four days and then seemed to get better, but we chose to stay in the unit due to the proximity of our family who were in two other units. The smell is embedded in all our clothes and other belongings. This was the sixth year the three families have rented units and we have all signed up for the 7th year. We like the location of the unit, but would like to request more attention to detail, not only in the smell, but in the maintenance of the unit. Perhaps even a renovation. The dishes, cooking pots, etc. really need to be replaced and decorations updated. They have remained the same for all 6 years and have even dwindled in numbers.

Hi Larry, We want to thank you so much for taking the time to leave us this review. We are so sorry that you had this issue upon checking in. As soon as you reported the smell in your unit, we immediately sent maintenance to see if they could locate the source of the fish smell. We also sent housekeeping to your unit immediately with bleach to pour into the kitchen disposal to sterilize, and Lysol spray to spray throughout the unit in hopes that this would resolve the issue. The issue was never reported after that first day, and we thought that the issue was resolved. We love the fact that you have stayed in this same unit six years in a row and have now booked it again for year seven. Happiness is! We love that you have made this unit your home away from home. You are so right, this is the prime location to walk right out of your patio and down to the beach. We look forward to seeing you again next year! Sand Cay Beach Resort

Beautiful view is not enough.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: After having stayed in five other Sand Cay units, this unit was sub par. The unit kitchen is mostly original and needs updating. Due the need of updating, the kitchen garbage can, without lid, sits in the living room. There is no room in kitchen for it. The bedrooms closets seem original with cracked mirrored doors that don't run on track. Patio furniture is unmatched scratched and torn. The unit floors need a good cleaning. We found this when we moved some furniture. After all this the unit has some nice updates, furniture, and the view is beautiful. As always the resort is beautifully kept from the pool all the way to the beach. As always highly recommended Sand Cay, just not this particular unit.

As advertised!!

A perfect beach getaway! The view and location could not be better. Love the gulf view from the big window in the den and sliding glass doors. Appeared to be recently and completely Renovated. Great layout for relaxing, eating, and cooling off after a day at the beach and pool. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to be only steps away from the beach or pool. Friendly office staff and very accommodating.

Love Sandcay but not the manager Lynne

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I love Sandcay. I have been oing since I was a kid and have taken my kids for over a dozen years. We decided last minute to head back for 5 days. Rented room 117 right on the gulf with an amazing view. Day 1 and 2 perfect - Day 3 I wake up to a huge machine in front of my room. Go talk to Lynne in the office and in a very dismissive way she tells me she'll look into it, that they are doing painting. Which I say fine but I explained to her that I only rented the gulfview so I could enjoy this view. They should have advised me to rent another room if there was to be painting on the building I was staying in. Needless to say this went on for the next 3 days. Machines, workman, every day. The team in the officed seemed empathetic but the manager never contacted me again to even apologize and express her care. Very disappointed in the way it was handled. The unit is gorgeous too bad the manager Lynn is nonresponsive and unprofessional> Stuff happens its how you handle it that makes the difference.

Great Oceanfront Condo

Nicely remodeled unit with beach style furniture. Loved being so close to the ocean. Would not recommend if you are a light sleeper or prefer to sleep late because you can hear every footstep from the unit above. Otherwise all was great.

We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into this condo because the pictures online were different than what the condo actually looked like. IT HAD JUST BEEN COMPLETELY REMODELED AND UPDATED!!! Our past two condos, although nice, are a bit outdated, but that doesn't bother us because Sand Cay is such a gem! Wonderful beach from property on a secluded stretch of beach.

THINK TWICE ABOUT THIS PLACE

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: As soon as we opened the door when we arrived there was a very distinct musty smell, I turned on the lights as it was 1am and dark, immediately several **** roaches scattered accross the floor. I managed to get one but who knows where the others were hiding. I kept this quiet from my family so as not to scare them the whole vacation. We were constantly bitten by other insects throughout our stay. The unit was not very clean so we spent a few hours next day cleaning and airing place out, and used 2 cans of air cleaner.For the price I paid for this place i expected a whole lot better and would definitely recommend going elsewhere.In fairness we have stayed in this complex before in other units and had only minor issues but this was the last time for us. "Who wants any kind of issues when on vacation"? My overall view is this place is very poorly managed.
