Water World Water Park is within 45 minutes as well as Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park. Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, and Vail Ski Resorts make a good day trip. National Western Stock Show, Red Rocks Amphitheater is 26 miles and you may take a party bus through ridetoredrocks. Check out Eldorado Hot Springs and enjoy a massage.
This lodge has incredible views and privacy within the forest at the top of Scar Top Mountain. Wildlife can also be seen. It is within minutes to a convenience store, liquor store, a tavern (opening 2018), and a Mexican/American restaurant. There is also a coffee shop close by where you can rub shoulders with the friendly locals and enjoy periodic musicians. A couple churches are close by as well. You will really experience Colorado here. We have 2 natural gas fire stoves for plenty of warmth so you can enjoy a cozy fire flame with snow falling throughout the abundant trees on the property. There are many picture windows throughout the home. When not snowing, enjoy a barbecue on a spacious deck with breathtaking views while cooking on the natural gas grill to cook. There is hiking, sledding (sleds provided) and snow shoeing (two sets provided) on our property. We have frisbees for you to set up a course and have a kids’ climbing wall and swings inside as well as many games, books and videos. The lodge is newly built in 2014 and has been professionally custom designed. The beds are extremely comfortable and high quality in each bedroom. Extras include two pianos (one is a baby grand piano), a laundry room, and a garage.

Peaceful, tranquil and charming, you will never forget your time spent at Quartz Mountain Ranch.
Stellar blue jays, nuthatches, finches and robins frequent the home except in the coldest wintertime. Birdseed is sometimes provided or can be purchased to set on the deck railings for them to eat while you can watch them for the comfort inside the lodge.
Hummingbirds love the area in the summertime. Hummingbirds with their high-pitched whine, frequent the property. They love to sit on the dead limbs of the huge Douglas Fir just west of the deck. Hummingbirds also love to dive bomb for insects in the area. "Hummers" as they are affectionately called are usually in the Colorado mountains from around April-May to September 15. Here is the recipe for making hummingbird nectar and replace it often to keep them coming back, of which they can get very protective:
- Mix 4 parts water to 1 part table sugar in a pan. For example, use 1 cup sugar to 4 cups water.
- Bring to a boil then remove from the heat.
- Cover and allow to cool before using or pouring into the storage bottle.
The entire 3+ acres and the private home is all yours! Rex's office, the shed, and the campers are the only places that are locked and off limits.
Husband and wife couple Rex & Michele are happy to offer help throughout your stay. Feel free to contact us by text, email, or phone and we will help out.
The neighborhood is quiet. Mountain folk typically keep to themselves. if you walk around the circle, you might see someone walk occasionally. You might hear an occasional chainsaw mitigating the forest to help prevent forest fires.
A car is required in the mountains. Mountain bikes are fun and helpful.
