Charming 1950s family cottage along Piscataway Creek just minutes from town
Your cozy getaway awaits along the creek at this family cottage. With 3 bedrooms including 2 queen beds, 1 bunk bed, and a pull out section this charming retreat offers a soothing escape for up to 8 guests. The bathroom comes equipped with a hair dryer and other daily needs for added convenience. Heating and AC ensure a comfortable stay year-round. Bring the family, bring the boat, and make some memories in this private peninsula that we call 'Piscataway Point'!
At Piscataway Point, you get the best of both worlds. The cottage sits at the meeting point of two quiet creeks, creating a peaceful, private oasis that feels blissfully tucked away from everything. Out here, your “neighbors” are more likely to be ospreys, herons, and jumping fish than people. Mornings start with birdsong, evenings settle into the sound of fish jumping out of the water, and the entire property feels like your own hidden retreat.
Yet, despite the secluded, nature-wrapped setting, you’re never far from convenience. Downtown Tappahannock is just 6–8 minutes away, offering grocery stores, local restaurants, the wine bar, the brewery, coffee shops, and everything you need to enjoy the area without ever feeling isolated.
The property has been in our family for generations (over 100 years!).

I grew up in the Tappahannock area, right around the creek where our cottage sits today. I don’t live there anymore—I’m about 45 minutes away now—but the river, the woods, and this property have always been a big part of my life.
I’m someone who enjoys staying active—working out, training, and taking care of myself. I also love building things. Over the years that’s meant everything from creating my own private training studio to spending more than a year of weekends (and a lot of sweat equity) building and restoring this cottage with my mom. It was a true passion project, and seeing it come to life is something I’m really proud of.
I love being a host because this land has been in my family for over 100 years. My grandfather grew up swimming, canoeing, and fishing in these same creeks. My dad did the same. I did too. Hosting gives me the chance to share that experience—the peace, the water, the simplicity, the memories—with people who are looking for the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave. My hope is that my future kids, and my nieces and nephews, will continue to enjoy it for generations to come, just like my guests do today.

Why I Chose This Area:
This property has been in my family for generations, so choosing this area wasn’t really a choice—it was a chance to bring something meaningful back to life. My mom and I worked together to restore the cottage, and she has just as many memories here as I do. She spent her teenage and young adult years on this land with my dad, long before I was running around the shoreline as a kid. That history makes the whole place feel incredibly personal, even if words don’t fully capture what it means to us.
The Scene:
When you arrive, it truly feels like a private oasis. Two creeks meet right in front of the cottage, and the setting has this natural calm that makes you feel like you’ve unplugged from the world the moment you pull into the driveway. You’re surrounded by nature—birds calling, fish breaking the surface, the breeze moving through the trees—with only the occasional fisherman or jet skier passing by with a friendly wave. It feels secluded in all the right ways, yet you’re still just minutes from town.
What I Enjoy Most:
The simplicity. Not “bare bones,” but simple in the best, most refreshing way. The cottage has all the modern comforts you’d want, but it still carries that nostalgic 1950s rustic charm that makes it feel cozy, warm, and genuine—nothing overly polished, nothing trying too hard. Just a place where you instantly relax.
And the views… Whether you’re down by the water, up on the overlook, or sitting on the screened-in porch, the scenery is calming in a way that’s hard to describe. You don’t even have to touch the water to feel the magic of the place. To me, that feeling of instantly unwinding is what sets this property apart, and it’s why I love sharing it with others.

What Makes Our Property Unique:
Piscataway Point isn’t just another house for rent—it’s a true 1950s cottage at heart. While many places in the area are modern homes made for short-term stays, this property still carries the original charm and character it was built with. When you stay here, you’re not just booking a weekend away—you’re stepping into a different era.
The experience feels a bit like those classic mid-century family getaways you’d see in old movies: loading up the car, heading down to the creek, spending the day swimming, floating, fishing, and simply being together. It’s a place built for slowing down, unplugging, and reconnecting, not just a place to sleep.
That’s what sets us apart. Piscataway Point is a retreat—quiet, nostalgic, and deeply tied to the land and water around it. With its rustic character, peaceful setting, and the welcoming simplicity of a true cottage, it offers something most rentals don’t: a chance to escape the everyday and experience the kind of easy, timeless relaxation people rarely get anymore.
