Lovely farm cottage with stunning views!

We had such a wonderful long weekend at the cottage. We throughly enjoyed our time at the farm, and the barn cat was an added treat. Very comfortable and immaculate interior. Would highly recommend!

Lovely horse farm and peaceful! I was disappointed in the Mountain View as advertised. The stunning mountain view was from the owners house. Overall it was very enjoyable.

Wonderful stay at Still Pond Farm

Great place for a family getaway … beautiful farm setting, mountain views, and plenty of wildlife in the area - we saw wild turkeys walking 20 feet from the dining room windows, and many deer on the morning walks. Charming cottage, plenty of room for our party of six. Clean and well equipped with modern appliances and air conditioning. The best part was the friendly cat that will greet you every morning on the front deck! Great location to visit the area wineries, tour Skyline Drive, or hike the mountain trails that are nearby.

We had a great time at Still Pond. The cabin is accurately described in the post and really has everything one would need for a stay away from home. My family of four had a wonderful time at the Still Pond Farm Cottage in Stanardsville, VA. We especially enjoyed the cozy fireplace, the comfortable beds, and the friendly cats that greeted us every time we returned to the cabin from going out and about.

Fabulous Girls’ Trip!

We had so much fun visiting the wineries near Charlottesville. This property was a picturesque farm setting nearby and the log cabin was clean, roomy and filled with all the things we needed for our weekend. We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. The property and the cottage are beautiful. This is such a nice, quiet and relaxing spot. The owners and their farm staff were very kind and helpful prior to the visit and when we arrived. We definitely would love to come back!

Tranquil Retreat

If your looking for a peaceful lovely place to stay in a rural setting but just a short drive to Charlottesville and Skyline Drive and all they have to offer, this is it. Have stayed in many VRBOs in the past and this was one of the very best. We will be back. Also should mention this is centrally located in Virginia wine country.

Stunning cottage. The photos do not do it justice. It is beautifully appointed and super clean. The property is beautiful, and having horses in the fields and a friendly barn cat walking around made it even more inviting and beautiful.

Charming in the Country

Four long time friends met for a wine country visit in this charming home in the horse country. Our hosts were wonderful and the cabin was just lovely. The horses on the property, the privacy and beautiful setting was great. We visited many local wineries and toured Charlottlesville and UVA. Sitting on the porch sipping wine, walking the grounds and seeing the horses made for a relaxing and enjoyable time.

A lovely autumn weekend

My college friends and I had an incredible time exploring Charlottesville from the cottage at Still Pond. The home itself is beautiful and welcoming, and Smokie the cat was a real highlight. We loved the wraparound porch and beautiful scenery. Joanna was swift and communicative, and even brought us a new Keurig machine the day ours broke. I can’t recommend enough! Thank you, Joanna!

Wonderful week❤️

This was one of my favorite cabins to stay in!! I live the peaceful and quite and the beautiful horses to hug and take pictures with !! They were so gentle and the Fox who ran beside our car as we drove off one day❤️I loved the deer in the morning and I really loved Smoky the lazy cat who would follow me everywhere I went outside!! The cabin was awesome!! And I will return as soon as I can! It was our perfect vacation - A quite weekend with me and my husband of 30 years ! I would love to own this property !! Hint hint😂it was a 10!!!!

Beautiful location

All was good with my stay but we had a few minor issues / suggestions. The upstairs shower did not have hot water. I would call it lujr warm. All the other shorts and sinks had plenty of hot water. One suggestion to the owner would be to have window treatments on the front main window. In the late afternoon the reflection off of the roof across the parking area creates a pretty bad glare.

Wonderful property

We decided to visit Charlottesville after other plans got cancelled. In a quick decision we chose this place as we did not want to stay in a hotel in the heart of Charlottesville. Prior to our arrival, Joanna (owner) contacted me about issues with the wifi. She took care of it asap and let us use her hot spot so that we had our wifi, which was so nice since my son had to address some work issues. Otherwise, no wifi would have been fine with us! As you turn off the road and drive on a long gravel road, you are surrounded by pastures with beautiful horses on either side. Near the cottage are the stables. Upon entering the cottage, we were greeted by the sweetest cat named Smokey. The aroma of a wood cabin and the quaint ambiance of the living area was delightful. The beds are comfy and the cottage was clean and inviting. The true highlight for our trip was visiting the horses every night. This cottage is very private. We never saw Joanna though know that if we needed anything she was immediately responsive. The only person we met was the barn manager Bailey. She told us about the horses and it was a pleasure meeting her. This is a working farm, so respect for the animals and following the rules set by the owners is important. The only complaint I have is that we had to head back home and leave! We all miss seeing those magnificent horses.

Beautiful location & great house!

We attended a wedding close by & our family stayed here for a weekend. So much nicer than a hotel! Beautiful grounds, lots of privacy & very kind owner. Charlottesville is short 15-20 drive. Highly recommend!

Great stay at Still Pond Farm

We had a lovely stay at the Cottage at Still Pond Farm. The rooms are brighter than they appear in photos. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was fully stocked, and the setting was beautiful. We were in town for UVA graduation and it was a pretty 30 minute drive to the festivities. The owner was always very responsive to messages prior to our stay. We had no issues during our stay. I highly recommend this wonderful cottage!

This was a beautiful property with a cozy cabin. We enjoyed the friendly horses and Smokey the cat. We chose this location for its incredible natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and proximity to so much that Virginia has to offer. Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Still Pond Farm is just minutes from Shenandoah National Park where we hike often, as well as Madison, nearby counties, and Charlottesville—but it feels a world away. The views are spectacular year-round, and the quiet countryside gives you room to breathe. We love the mix of mountain scenery, small-town charm, and local wineries—but most of all, we love sharing this peaceful setting with our animals. Caring for our horses, chickens, and barn cats is part of our daily rhythm, and it’s a joy to welcome guests into that way of life.

The Cottage at Still Pond Farm has a rustic yet contemporary feel, with open, airy spaces designed to bring the outside in. Cozy textiles and warm wood are blended with accents of glass and mirrors, reflecting natural light and creating a sense of calm. A lofted ceiling adds height and openness, while bay windows in the living and dining rooms frame views of the surrounding paddocks, 60ft round pen, barn and stables.

Throughout the cottage, windows provide ever-changing glimpses of the farm—horses grazing, boarders riding, or staff tending to animals—offering a quiet rhythm of daily farm life. Behind the cottage, a wooded border adds a sense of privacy and seclusion, making it feel tucked away while still near everything.

Though we’re a working farm, guest and resident quarters are well-separated, and the cottage is thoughtfully placed for both comfort and privacy. In the evening, soft interior lighting adds a warm glow, gently lighting the bay windows. The farm is quiet at night, and the cottage feels serene and tucked away—aside from the occasional call of a coyote or fox, or the gentle sounds of our horses nearby.
