Welcome to our unique, secluded, open-plan garden-level retreat in Upper Nob Hill. In hilly San Francisco, garden apartments can have a portion carved into a sloping hillside.

Our 3-story Edwardian was built 115 years ago, 2 years after the great San Francisco earthquake. Over the years, we have carefully preserved its many architectural charms.

This spacious boutique suite blends rustic gold-rush charm with artful, modern SF touches—high ceilings, heated floors, HVAC, redwood, leather, gold, concrete, art & antiques, and a cozy private patio garden—offering digital nomads a 1000 sq ft space with its own private entrance, in the heart of historic SF. Walk everywhere - 99 Walk Score.

Echoing Spanish Mexico, Edwardian England, and the Far East, we've layered the space richly with textures and finishes reminiscent of San Francisco's boomtown heydays.

A warm leather sectional anchors the living area, with original exposed surfaces that hint at the city's rugged past. Oil portraits of the original owners, antiques, and sculptures lend the unit the feel of a curated museum suite. Relax in this plush space enveloped by fine art and warm lighting. There's wifi, an elliptical, a 65" TV, Netflix, Prime, etc.

The adjacent area showcases a striking glass-top table by Paul Evans, B7B Italia chairs, and a commanding black armoire—all a nod to 19th-century opulence and contemporary SF style.

The bedroom features a custom king bed that sleeps two. An additional queen-size aerobed and our sofa can accommodate three more people in the living room.

Our large European wet bathroom is a private wellness spa. Step into floor-to-ceiling marble-finish tiles, heated floors, a shower equipped with a multi-jet water system, a rain shower, and sleek matte-black fixtures—designed to refresh and restore after a day exploring the city's iconic hills.

Retreat into your secluded, private zen patio garden at the end of the day to savor a glass of California wine under festive lights!

I loved my stay in San Francisco! This private studio was such a great find - a perfect mix of modern design with beautiful antique touches that gave it so much character. The location was amazing, close to everything I wanted to see and do, but still quiet and relaxing. It was super comfortable and convenient, and I felt right at home from the moment I arrived. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish, comfortable spot in San Francisco.

Beautiful home & great location!

The space was clean, comfortable, and spacious, perfect for our needs. As expected in any major city, there was some occasional street noise which would have been the case anywhere (even high rise hotels). The decor had an artistic, gallery-like atmosphere. The host was very responsive and went above and beyond by offering great restaurant recommendations. Check-in and check-out were both seamless and effortless.

Wonderful eclectic garden apartment, in a house on a hill. As you step down into the apartment, you are met with a beautiful, large open space and it is filled with unique furniture. The soft furnishings are sumptuous and there is so much to look at around the apartment. Every little detail has been thought about. The garden feels like its very own oasis. There are beautiful plants with nice seats and lighting. This is a very unique stay, in a great neighborhood. This really made our stay feel so special to be in a unique, private and central spot like this instead of the usual hotel/apartment. It made us feel very special. San Francisco is so charming and filled with endless things to see and experience. We never realised that San Francisco had parrots and the wallpaper was so playful and thoughtful. The host and her so were also very welcoming.

Just wow - my stay at this property for my birthday was amazing from the minute I arrived.The location is great with amazing views. The flat included welcoming background music that switched on automatically as you enter the property, tasteful decor throughout, gentle insense and a truly home from home experience. The attention to detail in the layout and the soft furnishings was delightful.The bed was huge and had lovely sheets and bedding that appeared to wrap around you and leave you feeling snug and warm.The bathroom is an excellent size with a range of shower options.The kitchen is equipped with everything you need including an array of herbs, spices and oils.The garden was an added bonus.I have stayed in many a property across the world but the standard of this was second to none.Finally, the host Vinnie was really helpful and assisted me no end in planning trips around the City and further a field.I would not hestitate to recommend this place and hope to return to San Francisco and this property very soon. Thank you for being such an amazing host.

Bizarre property possibly inspired by a whacky interior designer. Quiet location on steep hill, high ceiling.Non-matching furniture from 1900 from estate sales mixed with Indian statues. When I rent a place I should be mine, not cluttered by high stacks of books or a wine cellar. This is actually a very long, narrow basement with uneven concrete floor, only partially heated around the bed. Large bath with wall-and ceiling mounted sprays, drains improperly, no enclosure. Water will reach even the toilet due to a wrongly slanted tile ledge.Kitchette almost unusable: small, cannot hold two people,weak Microwave needs 3 min for 1 glass water,counter totally cluttered by dirty plastic coffee maker plastic water heater.To cook anything you need to put a convection plate on the counter. We could not even boil eggs.Bed surrounded by 2x8 boards, difficult to enter. Thin sheets stained by body cream. All towels old hand-me-downs. For that price of almost 400/night ??The co-called gym is one elliptical.Did anyone from VRBO ever inspect that property before listing ?

We communicated with this guest at length about our garden-level apartment (grade in the front, level in the back—like others all over hilly SF) including sending them additional pictures before he booked. He looked at all the same pictures as all our other guests, including all the furniture and modern/rustic/Edwardian decor, which is inspired by California/SF. The gentleman is 80 years old, quite frail, and we were concerned that the few steps might be too much. While the arrival went well, we struggled to make him happy here. Nothing was good enough from the start; the rain shower, to the king bed, to the sheets, to the privacy blinds, although not everything he has written here, some of which he never mentioned earlier. He would redo our space totally differently. The same things he liked earlier suddenly became intolerable. And some new complaints are just plain wrong, such as the comments on Costco sheets, Nordstrom towels, and underfloor heating, which is throughout the space—if you turn it on. We are really surprised at the vitriol because while it was a tough rental, we thought it ended on a good note. Our space has been loved by families and business travelers equally and is uniquely set up for extended stay visitors like digital nomads. That’s why we have an elliptical, basic weights, a yoga mat, etc. we don't even get the guest’s complaint about the gym because he is not in a physical condition to use those amenities. Clearly a mismatch and a lesson learned.
