Emerald Mountain-Many Steamboat Springs visitors are drawn to Emerald Mountain in the winter when it becomes a fresh powder gem of a destination for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing too. In the summer months, Emerald Mountain is a must-visit among mountain biking enthusiasts looking to check out thrilling trails that offer the reward of great views too. The hiking trails are equally appealing. Adventurers who are looking for a fairly straightforward path to the summit will want to begin their journey on Blackmere Trail which is a closed service road and relatively direct to the top. If you’re hiking this route in the heart of summer, heading out early is a good idea if you want the trail to yourself and to avoid contending with midday heat.
Yampa Core Trail-Perhaps one of the most iconic routes through Steamboat Springs, this trails begins in central Steamboat and follows the river. Adventurers will enjoy a smooth and well-maintained paved pathway throughout with a little over 7.5 miles made to explore. The trail conveniently connects a variety of Steamboat Springs landmarks from charming wood bridges to the Yampa River Botanic Park. This makes it simple to customize your time on the trail to meet your needs and include some of those must-see stops along the way as well.
Wanna ski? Hop on the free bus to access Steamboat Ski Area. For wintertime travelers to Steamboat Springs with a heart for time on the slopes, there’s no better place to find yourself than Steamboat Ski Resort. Known for world-class trails and terrific instruction for newcomers, this ski resort is perfect for solo travelers, couples, and families alike.
Howelson-Or go local and ski at Howelson right around the corner. Howelsen Hill Ski Area boasts a remarkable heritage. It is Colorado’s oldest continuously operated ski area, since 1915, and has the largest and most complete natural ski jumping complex in North America.
Old Town Hot Springs-It’s hard to imagine a summer trip to Steamboat Springs feeling complete without time set aside to enjoy Old Town Hot Springs. These naturally fed pools have been captivating audiences since the late 1800s and today, this downtown stop features additions in the way of waterslides, a fitness center, climbing wall, massage area and more!
Fish Creek Falls-Cascade chasers won’t want to miss out on a hike to Fish Creek Falls during a Steamboat Springs summer adventure when great photo opportunities are a priority.
