Summary:
The Woodstock Barn is a beautifully restored 1889 gem—featured in Vogue and “Woodstock Handmade Houses—located just 8 minutes from the heart of Woodstock. The one-of-a-kind property embraces the property’s original character with upgraded touches including a fully-fenced in-ground pool, 12-foot movie screen projector, chef’s kitchen, and outdoor pizza oven. The home includes two private bedrooms and two expansive lofted sleeping quarters. You will be situated at the foothills of the Catskills.
The Space:
Welcome to the Woodstock Barn managed by Root & Ramble Placemakers. This is more than a place to stay, it's a place to experience.
The space incredible (ahem—Vogue-featured!). You will be less than 10 minutes from the heart of downtown Woodstock and surrounded by some of the best hikes and nature experiences the Hudson Valley has to offer. You’ll have full access to the entire property, with the exception of a small detached owner’s cabin. Rest assured, the owners will not be onsite during your stay, so you’ll enjoy complete privacy throughout your visit.
ACCOMMODATIONS
A total of 5 beds within 2 bedrooms and 2 lofted sleeping areas.
- Bedroom 1: King bed. Located closer to the kitchen with sliding barn doors for privacy.
- Bedroom 2: Two twin beds. Located off of the living room with a door for privacy.
- Loft 1: Full Bed. Located above the living room in the larger portion of the barn. Includes a privacy screen curtain that can be opened and closed. NOTE we can include a twin cot in this living area on request.
- Loft 2: Full Bed. Located above the kitchen. Does not include a privacy screen.
BATHROOMS
- Bathroom 1: Full bathroom located off of the living room. Has a clawtooth tub with shower.
- Bathroom 2: Full bathroom located off of the kitchen. A tub style bath & shower.
All bathrooms are stocked with bath products for your use (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, lotion, make up towels, hand towels...etc)
COMMON AREAS
Two indoor common areas available:
- Common Area 1: located in the larger part of the barn this common area has 3 couches, wood stove, 12' projector with Apple TV, surround sound, dining room table for up to 12ppl, and a wet bar.
- Common Area 2: located next to the kitchen is a smaller dining table and couch that can be used as a breakfast nook and lounge to have your coffee in the morning.
Note that none of the common areas nor bedrooms have air conditioning (the entire house is heated). But thats for a reason - we've received overwhelming feedback that the home stays cool enough even in the hottest summer days.
GROUNDS
The Barn wraps around and expansive backyard including:
- Propane Weber Grill (propane provided)
- Built in wood fired pizza oven (wood provided)
- Pool with lounge chairs (pool is not heated)
- Outdoor shower
- Firepit (wood provided)
NOTES
As you can see from the photos, this beautifully restored barn is full of character and charm. Originally built nearly 140 years ago, it has been thoughtfully renovated with modern comforts while preserving its historic soul. You’ll enjoy clean water, cozy temperatures, and a well-maintained, safe space that feels like a modern home. That said, given the nature of older structures and our wooded surroundings, it’s possible that a friendly critter or the occasional bug might find its way inside. We clean thoroughly—including just before your arrival—and always strive to create a spotless and welcoming environment. Thanks in advance for understanding the quirks that come with staying in a space with such unique history.

Guest Access:
Guests will have exclusive access to the entire Woodstock Barn, including the two private bedrooms, two expansive lofted sleeping quarters, chef's kitchen, and living areas. Enjoy the outdoor amenities, such as the fully-fenced in-ground pool (available from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend), the outdoor pizza oven, and the BBQ grill. Parking is available in designated spaces on the property. Please note that the garage is not accessible to guests. The fire pit is available for use, adhering to all safety instructions.

Nestled in the charming Bearsville neighborhood, you'll find yourself surrounded by the beauty of the Catskills. Just a short drive away (approximately 8 minutes), the vibrant heart of Woodstock awaits, offering a delightful array of dining options, from cozy cafes to upscale restaurants. Explore unique shops and art galleries, immersing yourself in the town's creative spirit. For a taste of local culture, check out the Bearsville Theater, a renowned venue hosting concerts and events (a quick walk or drive). Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to hiking trails and outdoor adventures, making this location an ideal base for exploring the region's natural wonders.
Getting Around:
Getting around is a breeze from The Woodstock Barn. While a car is recommended to explore the Catskills, you'll find ample parking right on the property with designated spaces. For those flying in, the nearest airport is approximately a 1.5-hour drive away. Public transportation options are limited in this area, so planning your journey in advance is advised. Woodstock town center is just an 8-minute drive, offering a variety of shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions. Enjoy the peace of the countryside with easy access to local amenities.
