Checkin: Had to drive to remote home office for keys. No sheets/towels provided. The Good: Beautiful location with wildlife - fox, loons, snapping turtles who lingered near dock, fisher cat.The House: Odd layout & smell, 1950s décor, shag rugs, haunting artwork, overwhelming plastic plants. Dangerous porch door w/ 3-foot drop. Tiny dirty grill we cleaned ourselves, no outdoor tables, loud water pump, old appliances w/ restrictions (dishwasher OR laundry once daily). Undisclosed: owner watches from next door, creepy. Payment Stress: Extended stay required mailed check. Despite following realtor's instructions & sending bill pay confirmation screenshot, she grew increasingly frantic saying it was "not good" check hadn't arrived yet. I requested to pay via VRBO.Unfair Cleaning Charge: After 2 weeks & paying cleaning fees twice, they charged extra claiming we "rearranged cabinets" (returned dishes to wrong spots) & left dishwasher "full of dirty dishes" (we loaded & started it @10am departure - old machine no indicator light, they likely opened mid-cycle). Also upset we hadn't started laundry despite collecting bath mats helpfully. Our Actual Cleaning: Vacuumed house (bad vacuum), wiped bathrooms/counters/floors, emptied fridge, disposed all trash/recycling, made beds, left fresh charcoal & pool noodles for future guests.VRBO Policy Ignored: Hosts admitted no photos, receipts, or itemized breakdown despite policy requirements. Bottom line: Can't Recommend & Strange!
