From one of the owners who appeared on Channel 4's A Place in the Sun with Amanda Lamb in 2007, after 2 years living and working in the area this painstakingly restored beautiful 1 bedroom apartment was completed in conjunction with local renowned architect and designers. With hand-restored stone vaulted 18ft ceilings and stand out features such as a stone fireplace, claw feet roll top bath, you'll notice the amount of effort and work used to bring this characterful property back to life. It sleeps 2 to 4 people, and is a perfect base for exploring the many sites the Salentine Peninsular has on offer. Stunning local scenery and only a short drive to local beaches and award winning fish restaurants make this an ideal location to take it easy and enjoy the dolce vita. There are miles of beaches, acres of olive groves, and gallons of fantastic wine! The apartment has air-con, CD/Radio player, fridge, freezer, washing machine and all the kitchen equipment needed for a relaxing stay.

Additional Information:: Paul is the co-owner of property number 89993, a very successful rental property bought after appearing on A Place In The Sun in 2007. Equally as stunning and with tons of character and features, I restored this apartment by hand over two (long!) years so that it could be offered to holidaymakers who unfortunately haven't been able to book the other apartment due to high demand. If you would like any of the history of the renovation, any helpful tips or advice on the process, or just a chat about the area we are always open to questions.

As always, I try to offer the highest possible service and hope you experience the real Puglia while relaxing and taking time out.




Welcome Packs and Meet & Greet:: Francesco, Adriana and son Patrick are my neighbours who will meet you with the keys and ensure you have a pleasant holiday. Between them they cover Italian, German, French and English, so you should be in good hands, and being local they'll be able to give you the best advice for local restaurants and places to visit. Of course if you prefer a relaxing time away from it all they can leave you in peace and only be on hand as and when you need it.

Being next door, they can provide welcome food packs or special requests. Why worry about finding a supermarket on the first morning of your arrival, when you could just wake up and enjoy some real Italian coffee and the wonderful local produce. How about adding that romantic touch by arriving to a chilled bottle of Prosecco or maybe some flowers, perfect for your first evening, or special occasion. Festivities, Concerts and Markets: During the summer months, Galatone and the surrounding towns host many open air concerts, festivals and fabulous markets. More information can be found on the internet, try searching for 'feste a Galatone' on Google, and then clicking on 'Translate this page' if necessary. More likely than not however, you'll just wander into the old town square one night and hear wonderful live music or get swept up in a local festival with lights, parades, music and dancing! Feel free to ask us if anything special is happening when you plan to stay at the apartment.

Ein traumhafter Urlaub

Wir sind mittlerweile seit einen Monat zurück und ich denke immer noch an diese schöne Zeit die wir, zusammen mit unseren zwei Kinder 12 und 3, dort verbringen durften. Galatone ist eine zauberhafte kleine und sehr lebendige Gemeinde auf der Westseite von Apulien, nicht weit von Lecce entfernt. Die Wohnung liegt mitten in der historischen Altstadt. Von Dortaus ist alles schnell zufuß erreichbar. Es finden sich dort einige Restaurants, Pizzerias, supermercati usw. Strände sind mit dem Auto ein Katzensprung entfernt UND WAS FÜR STRÄNDE. Gallipoli, Lecce und Leuca muss man gesehen haben. Von Leuca aus ist die Rückfahrt direkt über die Ost-Küste zu empfehlen und mit der Gelegenheit die Grotte von Zinzulusa besuchen. Die Wohnung ist ein sehr schön eingerichtet und funktionell . Es ist alles da was man braucht. Il signor Francesco vohnt quasi eine Tür weiter. Er lässt keine Wünsche offen. Wenn man Fragen hat oder Hilfe braucht, Er ist immer da mit den besten Ratschlägen. Was soll ich noch sagen, das Wetter ist toll, das Essen ist super, die Leute sind nett ...... Italien halt. Wonderful apartment, town and locals were beyond expectations

Our 4 night stay in Galatone was not enough for us. After staying in central Puglia for 10 days we venture down to salento for the remainder of our holiday. The apartment was beautiful and Cristina the property manager was just the most loveliest lady, so kind and helpful and became our friend who we will keep intouch with. Also made friends with the Butchers at the Marcelleria Andrea and the locals old boys playing Briscola outside the cafe. We went to Lecce from Galatone which was only 30 minutea away as well as cave of poetry. The lovely beaches of Porto Cesareo and Punto Prociutto both with swimming pool sea and so clear too it kind of lives up to the name of the beaches called the Maldives of Salento. The apartment was steps away from the historical centre of Galatone with restaurants bars and piazzas walking distance....This stay has encouraged me and my family to buy an property in Puglia and maybe in historical Galatone as i want to keep my roots footed in Italy for my families future and heritage. So Paul any help and advice to me would be grateful when i ask you :o) perfect end in Salento. Would recommend this lovely place to anyone.

Vacanza in Galatone/Puglia 2023

Devo dire sopra ogni aspettativa, appartamento pulito, spazioso anche fresco nonostante il caldo (non abbiamo avuto la necessita' di accendere il condizionatore). Cristina poi e' stata molto accogliente, premurosa , gentile e disponibile. La Puglia ha posti veramente molto belli da vedere e la gente e' molto ospitale. Ci stiamo pensando per il prossimo anno.

Alloggio molto carino e ben tenuto, con tutto il necessario.

L'appartamento è molto carino, silenzioso, pulizia impeccabile e dotato di tutto il necessario per il soggiorno. Francesco è una persona stupenda che non ci ha fatto mancare nulla, dalla frutta e altri generi alimentari al nostro arrivo, ai consigli su come e dove andare per visitare questa parte bellissima della Puglia. Mancava solo il televisore ma a dir la verità ci sarebbe servito a poco.

Soggiorno fantastico!

Abbiamo soggiornato in questo bellissimo appartamento nell'estate 2014 per quasi due settimane. La sistemazione si è rivelata sopra le aspettative: pulizia impeccabile, arredo e finiture di classe e dotato di tutto e di piú! Il valore aggiunto è stata l'accoglienza e la presenza del gentilissimo e disponibilissimo signor Francesco che con la sua grande simpatia ci ha fatti sentire come a casa facendoci trovare al nostro arrivo frutta , pane e affettati continuando a viziarci durante la vacanza con anguria, vino.. Posizione tranquilla e a pochi minuti di auto da Gallipoli. Speriamo di poterci tornare al piú presto!

Another happy rental experience in Galatone

Once again we had a fine time in this spotless apartment in quiet Galatone. Everything I said in my previous review (October 2010, below) remains valid: Secure, well equipped, spotless apartment; helpful manager next door; easy commuting to attractive sites, responsive owner and trouble-free booking. Galatone restaurant options are few but there are admirable restaurants within a reasonable drive. We preferred to cook, however, in the apartment's great kitchen We even located an open WiFi network at a local restaurant -- the owner can provide details.

Lovely apartment

We enjoyed a fantastic week in Galatone. The apartment was beautiful and full of character with its vaulted ceilings. It was clean, well furnished and equipped and extremely spacious for 2. The location was ideal for exploring the Salento peninsula. Galatone is well linked to the road system, making both coasts, Lecce, Gallipoli and Otranto easily accessible. Paul couldn't have been more helpful when we were planning our holiday and provided lots of information on the area. Although we had relatively little to do with his manager Francesco because everything ran smoothly, he was very friendly and eager to help. In short a great place to stay and I have no hesitation recommending it.

GREAT PLACE IN SOUTH ITALY

Very nice place to stay, very well located for those who like quiet holiday. The apartment is clean, very well and tastefully equipped. If you have a car, this place is perfect for reaching all parts of Puglia. There is easy and helpful communication with the owner. Friendly people around, cozy small town.

Gallatone apartment

My husband and I had a marvellous stay in this most gorgeous town apartment - huge living space, comfy furniture, small courtyard to rear, lovely old character retained and very clean. We foudn the apartment as it was described on this website. The location is extremely handy for the local shops and for visiting the many beautiful churches in town. Main roads are easy to access for going out of town. We recommend visiting local wineries (Santa Dimtri in particular where wine on tap is available to buy - take your own empty water bottles) and visites to Lecce and Galipoli in particular. The apartment is also not far from the two coasts with lovely beaches a short drive away. We had great customer service from the owner's manager who lives next door. Would highly recommend this lovely apartment and would definitely consider another stay.

Great Apartment

A cute, comfortable, well kitted out apartment in the heart of Galatone's old town. Galatone is a great jumping off point for the whole of the Salento, and this apartment is a true home away from home : it's clean, has air conditioning, great cooking supplies and everything is super tasteful. Amazing Apartment!

I can't emphasise enough how lovely the apartment is. Modern, extremely spacious, beautifully done up. Another reviewer already pointed out how the kitchen is nicer than their own at home and I can only agree. Paul was extremely organised in letting me know everything I needed in advance which was really helpful. I was travelling by myself in a hire car and had no problems finding the place and finding somewhere to park. Francesco, a lovely Italian with excellent German skills, who looks after the apartment and who meets you to give you the keys was extremely helpful and concerned with making sure I had everything I needed and had a great stay. Galatone is small and charming and a perfect base for exploring Salento. I had a fantastic holiday and Paul and his apartment and Francesco played a key part in that. Thank you!

Fantastic holiday!

We stayed for one week at this lovely apartment. Francesco, the apartment manager, gave us a very warm welcome, and good, practical information about the property. Throughout our stay, he was generous and always on hand if we needed him for anything. Although we didn't meet him, the owner, Paul, sent us detailed information before we left, and provided prompt replies to any queries we had. The apartment itself was fantastic: well renovated (check out the 'before and after' pictures in the photo album!), clean, and fully equipped. There was masses of space for two people, and there'd be plenty for more. Although Galatone itself is quite small, it offers supermarkets, restaurants, pharmacies, and so on. Beaches and cultural centres such as Lecce are easily reached by car, and the main highway has several junctions at Galatone. All in all, it's an excellent base from which to explore the region. I couldn't recommend this apartment more highly, and my partner and I would definitely stay there again.

Beauty, atmosphere and well being

I would recommend this property mainly for four reasons: 1. The sheer beauty and atmosphere of the appartment; 2. The completeness, design and quality of it's fittings; 3. The welcoming attitude of the owner, his manager and the towns people; 4. It's quiet location in easy reach of several highlights in the arera. 1. You will pass the old gate into a narrow street, walk into a small courtyard and the caretaker will unlock the door. That's when you enter a stunning space that, you will realise, is to be yours for some days to come (in my case, regretfully, only three). High, spotlessly white vaults convey the feeling of entering a little palace or chapel. This main room, as well the adjacent ones, have been perfectly restored, leaving the leading part to be played by the original shape of the old dwelling itself. It's roomy, it's airy and every step around the house provides a new and amazing perspective. It's truly unique. And it's spotlessly clean! 2. The kitchen, the bathrooms and the bedroom provide everything you could possibly need, of superior quality and (modern) design. Those who like to test their cooking skills with the wealth of gorgeous food the Puglian shops and markets have to offer: take your time in this well equiped kitchen and serve the result in the tiny but lovely patio. Recommended for wine and oil lovers: the azienda Santi Dimitri just outside Galatina, nearby, with their amazing white Ruah from Fiano grapes, as well as their Sharav from Primitivo. Top quality oil as well. 3. The owner I never met, but his e-mails were very friendly and he went out of his way to help me solve a personal problem even after we got back home. Caretaker Nico Francesco and his son are very helpful with information and getting your car parked, in a semi-legal way, in front of the house that is. People at the tourist info, as well as everybody else in town we talked to, were extremely nice to us. 4. Galátone, itself a laid back little town certainly worth a few strolls, is well positioned within easy reach of highlights like Nardó, Lecce, Gallipoli, Otranto and of course some lovely beaches. So all we have to regret about our stay at this property in Galátone is that it was too short...

Well-designed flat, well-priced + great owner

The apartment, newly renovated and equipped, is a series of stone-vaulted rooms. It has a large sitting-dining room, a spacious modern kitchen, a smaller but high-ceilinged bedroom with tiny, chic ensuite bathroom: shower, basin and toilet… plus a beautiful barrel-vaulted main bathroom with stone fireplace. There is a small, private courtyard. Windows are small but that did not trouble us. It is a quiet flat. All the fittings were of high quality, the flat was stocked with everything we needed and the flat was absolutely spotless when we arrived. It was a pleasure to cook in the kitchen, which is nicer than our own (newly renovated) one at home. There is a good foodstore ("Sma") within 5 minutes' walk. We did not try any Galatone restaurants. The owner was extremely accommodating and solicitous. The on-site manager and his family were approachable and helpful. I speak Italian so I cannot say how much English is spoken in this town. Galatone itself has a few historic buildings but is a fairly ordinary, workaday town. We chose it for its proximity to the sea and to other interesting sites. I grew fond of the place, though. We made a few discoveries of our own: Ugento, Nardo' and Copertino, all close and all un-touristed. Nearby Gallipoli is a jewel and fabulous Lecce is only 20 minutes away. Parking was actually easier than expected: We parked within 50 feet of our own front door. As in ALL old Pugliese towns, the streets are tiny and driving is slow. However, Galatone is small and once you leave it, driving is easy, especially on the nearby motorway that connects Brindisi and Lecce with the southern end of the Salento peninsula.

A wonderful appartment

My partner and I have just come back from a fantastic week in this apartment. The weather for mid September was very hot, which obviously helped, but our stay was made all the more enjoyable by the experience we had in this property. It is a splendid character building which has not only been sympathetically and immaculately restored, but is large and very well equipped for a self catering apartment - from kitchen accessories to beach gear. It was very clean and all facilities were obviously very new when we got there. We also found the apartment manager, Fancesco to be very welcoming and concerned that we should have everything we needed. The town, Galatone, has plenty of character. As commented in other reviews - locals are very welcoming and friendly, although English speakers please note that very few locals are fluent in English so you will have to attempt Italian! The town is a busy and traditional place for and the apartment is situated in the centre of the old town, so is at the centre of things - although fortunately not particularly noisy at night. A hire care is recommended, as the town itself does not contain many tourist facilities - but the nearest beach is about a 10 minute drive. More tourist- focussed towns both inland and on the sea are accessible with a slightly longer drive. There are several good restaurants available locally, which are very good value, but we spent most time enjoying seafood in the various towns dotted along Puglia's west coast. Best of all, however, is the quality of the beaches and sea; many with white sand and turquoise waters - however seaside towns have not been overdeveloped for tourists and retain so much of their character - we would definitely come here again!

Very Relaxing

We stayed at this lovely apartment in the 1st week of September. The apartment is beautifully fitted out (if can take out some special bath soaks!) and everything you need to make your stay perfect is provided...we found lovely cafes and restaurants within walking distance and we actually advise to do this early in the morning or late/early afternoon as siesta time is taken seriously and it does go quiet, so we used this time to go to the nearest beaches which are about a 10 min drive, my husband spent many happy hours fishing in th sea while i caught up on reading and catching some rays, you have a choice to either go on the rocks which are just lovely or there is a sandy beach...we did both. We had fantastic comunication with Paul, who was always willing to answer questions...we highly recommend this apartment for a real 'escape from it all' break and would go back again without hesitation.

Appartamento Galatone

La casa è appena stata ristrutturata, arredata con molto gusto e dispone di tutti i comfort. Tutto l'arredamento è nuovo e tenuto molto bene, la casa è molto pulita ed il rapporto qualità/prezzo è ottimo. La casa si trova in una posizione strategica, in quanto da Galatone è facile raggiungere i principali posti d'attrazione del salento, restando comunque lontano dal caos che durante i periodi estivi è molto facile trovare.

Casa accogliente e confortevole

La casa, da poco ristrutturata, rispetta e valorizza le caratteristiche delle case del luogo ed è stata arredata con ottimo gusto. E' dotata di tutti i comfort, 2 bagni di cui 1 nella camera matrimoniale, aria condizionata, impianto stereo e tanti altri particolari. A disposizione degli ospiti vi è riso, pasta, olio, caffè e persino il Tea inglese, ma è anche fornita di asciugamani, lenzuola, tovaglia e stoviglie ed altro ancora. Si trova in un centro storico, ben servito da negozi e supermercati e il sabato è anche possibile visitare il piccolo mercato locale. E' adatta a giovani famiglie, o a coppie, che desiderano fare una vacanza al mare lontano dal caos, è situata a pochi Km. da Gallipoli, una perla della costa salentina, indispensabile l'auto.

Luxury accomodation in great part of Italy!

My husband, children and I spent almost a week in this great apartment! Every detail is well-thought out for your comfort and enjoyment! It felt like we were visiting a friend - great communication, helpful advice about what to do and where to go, extra amenities like a big cooler and beach umbrella, made for a spectacular holiday! Also, the apartment is well stocked with tea, sugar, pasta, a big bowl of fresh fruit and some delicious prosecco made us feel extra-special! We felt like part of the town not a tourist at a hotel! Paul and Lorraine are top-notch - would stay here again in a second! Good location for seeing Puglia!
