House 'De Nink', forest lodge, central Netherlands, 1 hr from Amsterdam
What a treat it is to spend time here whilst visiting the otherwise busy country of The Netherlands! House 'De Nink' is set on a small family estate at the edge of a vast forest in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The surrounding forests and heathlands offer amazing hiking and cycling, where you can find ultimate peace and quiet, any time the year. The house is spacious and homely, with a log burner stove and furnished in an authentic country style. Its central location in this small country makes it a perfect and memorable base for exploring all of The Netherlands.
The House
'De Nink' is the perfect place to come home to after exploring the vast majestic forests, heathlands, or mediaval castles and world class museums in the area, or to relax after day trips to Amsterdam or other Dutch awe-inspiring towns.
Kitchen, the heart of the house
The eat-in kitchen is well equipped to cater to your needs: 4 hob induction cooker, dishwasher, oven, filter coffeemaker, Nespresso machine, electric kettle. Extra charm is provided by attention to detail, with beautiful crockery, a farmhouse kitchen table, and cute touches like bird feed for the birds outside the kitchen window. The backdoor opens from the kitchen to the patio.
Bedroom 1, or should we say 'suite'
This spacious room, or should we say 'suite' with super kingsize bed (6 x 6'6 ft) with ensuite bathroom has french doors opening up to the patio. Beside the two stylish chairs and coffee table there's ample space for luggage. The ensuite bathroom is spacious and bright and has a walk in shower.
Bedroom 2, steeped in authenticity
A comfortable room with also a super kingsize bed. The room has lots of authentic details, from the wooden floors, and quaint chair. This in combination with some original art work makes for a lovely bedroom. The ensuite bathroom is delightful, with large bath, separate walk in shower and oozing with character.
The living room, the chill room with a view and a fire
Through the huge window daylight brightens up the room, with views over the adjacent field. A comfortable - and large - sofa, and a couple of armchairs make this a lovely room to socialise with your travel companions. Depending on the season you can fire up the wood burner stove, or open up the french doors to the patio.
The Estate, preserving the way it was
The Dennenholt Estate is a small family owned estate, offering 5 comfortable holiday homes, each unique in size and character. The family have aimed to restore and preserve the buildings on the estate for the next generation, in way true to the character of the region, with thatched roofs, wood cladding, keeping farm animals like chickens and donkeys. Over the years they've providing privacy to their guests, but are always there when guests need advice or help.
The Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, of international allure
House 'De Nink' lies in the heart of the Veluwe region, on the edge of the wildest and empties part of The Netherlands. Stringent nature laws rightfully protect this land from any type of development. Here, at only a few steps from house 'De Nink' one can experience ancient forests and sweeping heaths like no where else in The Netherlands. The area is perfectly suited for outdoor pursuits, like walking and hiking, or cycling on paved cycle paths on city bikes, or through forests and country lanes on all-terrain bikes (ATB/mountainbike). We'll gladly help you finding the perfect rental bicycle or electric bicycle, which can be delivered to your doorstep.
Activities
Apart from cycling and walking there's a wide array of activities possible in the area, from swimming, horse riding, visiting mediaval towns, world renowned museums (in Nationaal Park Hoge Veluwe / Kröller-MĂŒller Museum) and royal palaces (Paleis Het Loo).
Daytrips from this location
As the Dennenholt estate is located central in the Netherlands, with easy access to highways most cities in The Netherlands can be easily reached. Amsterdam, Delft, The Hague, Groningen, Utrecht are outstandingly beautiful cities, each with their own specific wonderful sights to see. Your host will be delighted to help you plan and navigate your day trips!
