We would never try to misrepresent the space with photos. We do our very best to represent the space as accurately as possible. During the guests stay an issue with the shower heater arose… I communicated with the guest and informed them I would contact my handyman who could fix the issue the next morning, but because they didn’t want to wait the guest asked if they could instead cancel the remainder of their stay, and be reimbursed for the nights not stayed. I kindly agreed, and we were both very amicable and had no issues. I contacted VRBO to make sure the cancellation and refund was done correctly. The representative made the cancelation, released the refund and assured me that they would only be charged for the nights stayed. The guests then contacted me that the total refunded was not adding up. Because I could not see the details of the reimbursement from my end, I informed the guest to contact VRBO directly so they could break down the details of the refund for them. Once the guest was informed by the representative that VRBO was not refunding their service fee they became very angry and blamed ME for this, which was out of my control. The extra guest charge the guest is claiming was also not charged by me, as this is something that is automatically charged when the guest makes the initial booking themselves and enters the amount of guests. There was no extra charge on the original booking on my end, nor did the VRBO representative see any extra guest charge when I inquired with them. At this point the guest was angry and accusing me of over charging them. They proceeded to make claims of uncleanliness that was simply not true, as I cleaned and inspected the house myself. (Absolutely no rotted food in the cupboard, only clean spices. No mold, or cobwebs. Only photo sent was of an outdoor bowl used to feed the stray cats she claimed was dirty from the cupboard) This is disappointing that a guest can make false claims and accusations on a review without proof, as we work very hard to provide an inviting, clean space and honest communication and transactions.

We’re so sorry to hear the guest had trouble enjoying their stay! We work very hard to make sure guests enjoy their experience, and are very attentive and always available for any questions or concerns a guest has! Unfortunately the guest did not contact us during their stay. Had they let us know we would have immediately addressed any issues with a solution. The ACs inside the home have been checked and are in perfect working order, so possibly the guest had it on the “power saving” mode by accident. As this has happened once before. As for roosters… you will find wild chickens and roosters in all corners of vieques, and is part of Vieques living. Most guests are aware of this, and actually enjoy them as part of the islands charm. Mosquitos are prevalent in vieques, especially after periods of rain. The home is completely sealed with screened windows, and inspected regularly, so any mosquitos that would be in the home would be from opening outside doors. We do however provide an indoor mosquito zapper and outdoor mosquito coils to keep mosquitos away from the home, and kill any that may sneak in when going in and out.
