Three King Beds, Two Large Desks and a Gourmet Kitchen near La Jolla

Our home is perfect for those who are working from home while on vacation. Two of our bedrooms have large desks, and we have an additional small desk in the living room. All of our bedrooms are ideal for adult couples, as we have three king-sized beds. Families with children are welcome as well. We provide extra bedding and air mattresses in case our three beds are not enough for your family. The primary bedroom has a traditional king-sized bed, a very large desk with a comfortable office chair, and a walk-in closet. We even have a laser printer in case you need one. One of the two smaller bedrooms has a large desk with an office chair, an electronic piano, and a California-king-sized bed. The third bedroom has a California-king-sized bed. A California-king-sized bed is slightly longer, and slightly narrower than a traditional king. Each bedroom has a closet and a dresser that are available for use by guests. We allow most pets, including dogs. Everyone is welcome, so come as you are!

Do you like to cook? Our home has a very well-equipped kitchen. In addition to the basic cookware that you expect to find in all vacation rentals, our kitchen offers several amenities that set us apart. We have a Kitchen-aid stand mixer, a pasta maker, numerous different pots and pans, including some cast iron pans. We also have stainless steel and aluminum pans as well. We also have some unusual items, including a fondue service and a barware set. Try your hand at mixing some drinks like a pro! We have plenty of high-quality place settings and glassware as well.

Our home has four notable outdoor spaces. One is a private courtyard that is enclosed by a wall. The courtyard has a locking gate, so nobody will disturb you. We have two enclosed patios to the rear and side of the house. One has the BBQ and an outdoor dining table. The other has a propane-powered fire pit table and lounge chairs. The forth is a large side yard that is not enclosed.

In the garage, you will find a modern front-loading washing machine and dryer, which you are welcome to use. The remainder of the garage has been walled off, and is not available for use by guests. Guests are welcome to park on the driveway.

The TV is a Samsung 80-inch QLED smart TV. You may access any video streaming services that you may have subscriptions to, such as YouTube TV and Netflix. Internet speed usually measures around 100 mbs for download and 10 mbs for upload. This is much more than adequate for viewing 4k programming on the one TV that is provided. There is no local TV reception at this location, and we do not have cable TV. The owners routinely work from the home when visiting, and the internet is much faster than necessary for videoconferencing and other simultaneous work activities. For those who enjoy participating in spin classes, we have a Keiser M3i exercise bike, which you may position in front of the TV.

Guests may park two cars on the private driveway. There is abundant free parking on both Lipmann and Robbins streets. Additionally, trailer, boat or RV parking may be available on our unpaved side yard. Please inquire with the owner for details, before booking, if you are traveling with any recreational vehicles. The garage is NOT available for use by guests. However, the laundry equipment is located in a separate laundry room, which is available to guests.

Within a short walk to the house, you will find three parks and a local high school. Two of the parks have play structures for young children. One park has a sports field appropriate for baseball, softball or soccer. At the high school, you will find tennis and basketball courts and a shortcut for walking to UTC. Please note that it is illegal to enter the grounds of the high school when school is in session. Also, officially-organized events always have priority over informal play. The world famous golf course at Torrey Pines is a 15-minute drive from the house, and it features a driving range as well.

This home is used exclusively by the guest during your stay. You may use everything that you find in the home, with the following exceptions: 1. The attic, which is locked. 2. The hallway closet near the front door. This is also locked. 3. Guests may use the laundry equipment. The remainder of the garage is walled off for use as storage by the owner. Guests may not enter the walled off area of the garage.

Guests should be aware that we do have security cameras installed in the outside areas of this property. There are two cameras outside of the kitchen on the side of the house, and there are two cameras in the backyard. One camera covers the driveway. One camera covers the side yard. One camera covers the front courtyard. All doors and window are covered by one or more cameras, but at an angle. None of the cameras are aimed into the house such that occupants are visible. This home is also equipped with an alarm system. There are motion sensors in every room of the house, but these are not capable of recording either sound or video. The alarm system and cameras are armed at all times when the house is unoccupied. The alarm system is disarmed prior to a guest's check-in time, and it is re-armed after a guests check-out time. The cameras are motion-sensitive, and they may be on at any time. A blue LED light is visible on each camera when it is recording.

We really enjoyed our stay at Scott's place. The kitchen was incredibly well-stocked, as well as the rest of the house. Our dogs really enjoyed the back yard and we enjoyed the fresh citrus from the trees. Communication was really great. Scott was a very kind and gracious host. The neighborhood was great for walking the dogs. Location was convenient to LaJolla, SeaWorld, and Zoo. We recommend his place!

Great location

The house was in a great location with easy access to freeways and shopping. Check in was very easy with the keypads and Scott was helpful when we had to call regarding one of the air conditioners. The family room can get hot when returning to the house but cooled down when we hooked up the portable AC unit to the sliding door. The beds were nice and firm, and I loved the high quality bath towels.

The location is very convenient and fairly quiet. The place was clean and everything was as advertised. Host was available if we needed him. Great fenced outdoor areas. Made it easy for the dog. The only negative was that it was a bit hot. The portable AC units are not strong enough to cool the main living area. Other than that, highly recommended.

Comfortable, clean, flexible manager, and a great kitchen!

My daughter and I spent a week in this clean and simple property. It was perfect for us as she recovered from a medical procedure. Everything worked as it was supposed to. It was clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. The bathrooms were clean and fully functional. We cooked most every day and the kitchen was the best of any VRBO I've used. It had every utensil and appliance you could need. Pots and pans a slow cooker and even a Dutch oven. The pantry had available spices, oils, salt and pepper. I didn't have to buy anything but the food - oh, and Cinnamon, that was missing, but it's there now. There was a Keurig machine with large selection of k-cups as well as a selection of teas. It even had Tupperware for storage of leftovers and sealable bags if needed. Honestly, it was fantastic. As described, it has 3 air conditioners. 2 need to be setup if you need to use them. The owner has clear instructions with pictures to make it easy. They did the job. The master bedroom window AC worked perfectly and kept the back of the house cool. One tip is to open the front door and the sliding doors in the evening and the house cools quickly naturally. Because there is a private courtyard in the front, it felt perfectly private. Overall, we loved the property and would stay again. Thank you, Scott be the flexibility and communications as well.

Great if you don't mind the property management

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: If you don't mind working with TurnKey, who apparently runs a security check on you, and doesn't offer refunds of down payments, and who sends you lots of messages and leaves you branded notes like a mother hen ("Please lock the doors and windows! - TurnKey"), and whose systems and app don't work with VRBO's even though they cross-list on VRBO's site, this place itself is quite good. A little impersonal, but pleasant and practical. It's a renovated older building that is now sort of like an upper midrange hotel on the inside, with good linens and everything shiny and clean. Loudish planes fly overhead, but I think that's common in this city. The grassless yard unfortunately featured in the photos is also a local norm. The advertised citrus trees are skinny new plantings, but even so they're kind of fun and they do bear fruit. The rooms are large, the furnishings are new and comfortable, and the location in a quiet neighborhood is surprisingly close to San Diego attractions like the zoo, the harbor, and the beach (assuming you can dodge traffic). We stayed for only a few days, but I can see making a week of it with the family and feeling comfortable and at home.

Great property in a convenient location.

We would definitely stay at this property again and recommend it to friends and family. The description in the listing was quite accurate and the property was clean and well appointed. The customer service was excellent. I received information I needed to access the property when I made the reservation as well as a few days before we arrived, so no lost email/text problems. We had four in our party and there was plenty of room. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare good meals. We made use of and enjoyed the various areas where we could entertain and share meals with our local family. In addition to the dining area with seating for six, the private patio in front of the house has benches and a table that fit six, and the patio off the kitchen with the barbecue had seating for four, with extra seating available. Your property really felt like a home away from home and we were very comfortable. The property was conveniently located as well. We were able to get to and from downtown in good time, visit our family in La Jolla and in Rancho Santa Fe easily, go for a run at Pacific Beach and visit a great local brewery (Ballast Point) on Miramar Rd. I would have given this property 5 plus stars if there was air conditioning. But, to be fair, our stay was in an unusually warm period for San Diego and the house was really hot on several days. Opening up windows and doors when we were home helped, as did the ceiling fans in the bedrooms. We did not find the portable fans until the end of our second very hot day as they were stored under the television stand where we did not think to look.

I am a retired engineer. My wife is an architect. This is our second home that we visit several times each year. We enjoy hiking, scuba diving, and paragliding, all of which present several opportunities in San Diego, I happen also to be a gourmet chef. As such, our kitchen is extremely well equipped. University City is coastal, and central to everything San Diego County has to offer. It is close to the beaches in La Jolla, Torrey Pines, UCSD, and minutes away from three of the major freeways.

Our home is almost uniquely well-suited to groups of up to three adult couples traveling together on vacation, as we have three king-sized beds. For those who are working while on vacation, we provide two full-size office desks with office chairs, and an HP laser printer, that also functions as a copier and scanner. We also have a smaller reading desk in the living room. We have a Yamaha Clavinova electronic piano, and yes, guests, including young children, are welcome to play it. Families with children and pets are of course welcome to stay here as well, and many have stayed with us. However, we do not have any child-specific amenities.
