BEACHES & CRITTERS: The beach size in Hawaii varies month to month due to weather, heavy surf, strong currents, and tides. Due to Maui's rural setting, you may experience the occasional rooster, as well as harmless geckos. Geckos are friendly, eat insects, and are considered good luck in Hawaii. Please don't kill them. Although the HOA schedules regular professional pest control services, pests such as ants, roaches and rodents simply cannot be completely controlled in the tropics. Maui is in a tropical climate. If our guest spot more than the normal expected pests, we always make our best efforts to contact and work with the HOA to minimize your interactions with these pests. Any contact with such pests within or outside the unit does not constitute a breach of this Agreement or give Guest any right to any refund or rental adjustment.

Overall, a great condo, and we loved our time there. The Hale Kamaole is a fantastic property, and is always immaculate. A few comments on the condo - the inside of the dishwasher was filthy, and is in need of a good cleaning including the filters and drainage hole.We took down all the light fixtures in the condo and gave them all a good cleaning, as the lighting was so bad. We realized the fixtures weren’t the issue. The issue was the wattage of the light bulbs. They are not sufficient for the space. They need to be replaced with more appropriate light bulbs. But, overall a great condo!!!!

We were very comfortable here, it was clean and comfortable. The check ill-in was super easy even though we arrived very late in the evening. The host was very communicative and we had everything we needed.

Cockroach infestation
I'll start by saying we were only in this location for 4hours before the host relocated to a much better and clean location. The place looked clean but had an obvious and gross cockroach issue in the kitchen and through the place. I'd check with the host to make sure they have handled the problem before booking but otherwise a great location and the place itself was as expected from the pictures.

We take cleanliness and pest control very seriously, and while issues like this are rare, we appreciate you bringing it to our attention right away so we could quickly relocate you to a more comfortable unit. We’ve since taken immediate action to address the issue and have had the property professionally treated.

While we cannot completely eliminate the possibility of encountering insects in a tropical environment, we do take several measures to mitigate this, including regular professional pest control services scheduled by the resort management.
