The Space:
#StayinMyDistrict Historic Kenton! Private Guest House in the Kenton neighborhood located in North Portland. Conveniently located to I-5 & b Portland Airport. Blocks to the MAX Light Rail- makes getting around Portland Metro easy without a car! Walk to local restaurants & shops, including Posies, Swift & Union, Cultured Cave Man.
Rest easy in this comfortable Guest House with a separate entrance and private patio with outdoor seating.
Bedroom features comfortable King bed with quality linens and pillows, and closet space and storage for guests personal items.
Updated bathroom is clean with a tile shower, vanity with cabinet space and stocked with Essentials, paper products and high quality linens, for guest convenience. There is a compact stacking Washer/Dryer for guest use. Hairdryer and an iron/ironing board are available at the property.
Enjoy eating in and preparing meals in the kitchen. Kitchen is efficient and includes all of the basics for preparing meals including cookware, dishes, utensils, coffee pot & microwave. There is a small table with seating for up to 4 that can also double as a workspace.
Snuggle up with a book or watch a movie in the living area. Features comfortable couch and large flat screen TV to enjoy a night in! Smart TV with access to Amazon, Netflix and online entertainment. And of course WIFI is also included! Couch also folds out to a full size bed to accommodate additional guests.
Enjoy a glass of wine or your morning coffee on the patio in the private, fenced yard. There is comfortable seating for two.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire home including the private fenced patio. There is a full time tenant in the main house but there are no shared spaces. The driveway is OFF limits as it is provided for the full time tenants!
The Neighborhood:
Portland’s Kenton neighborhood is a dream for early risers, who can choose from a wide selection of delicious breakfast and coffee options. Both results of the revitalization efforts, coffeehouses Presso and Prince each offer a distinct ambiance and an elevated menu of beverages and snacks. There’s no wrong choice here, but Presso’s slightly larger menu and decadent coffee creations (hello, charcoal lavender latte!) are the perfect way to treat yourself. For a quick bite, choose from their selection of specialty toasts or pastry items. More substantial brunch and breakfast options can be found just next door at the brand new establishment, Derby’s.
Walking around Kenton can transport you to another place and time entirely, as the collection of businesses along historic Denver Avenue creates a feeling of small-town living. We encourage you to embrace this narrative and explore the main strip as a tourist. Like many small towns, there are plenty of gems to be found. Among them are the iconic Paul Bunyan Statue, homewares store Mantel, the fashionable Give & Take Resale consignment shop, Speck’s Records & Tapes, Salvage Works reclaimed wood shop, and the curated Kenton Antiques & Collectibles. You can even stop by the Kenton Library to enjoy one of their community-minded events or peruse their inclusive book selection.
Included in Kenton’s main stretch is local staple, Posies Bakery. This coffee and lunch spot is great representation of the neighborhood and its deeply engrained sense of community. Stop in for a snack and join a community of freelancers and local families in enjoying the brightly-lit space.
After you’ve combed through the local businesses scene, it’s time to explore the natural elements that make Kenton’s location so appealing. If travelling by foot, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood’s pride, Kenton Park. Spanning 11.91 acres, Kenton Park is lush with old growth greenery and family-based activities. You can even enjoy the scenery over a cold beverage, as nearby Parkside offers up snacks and drinks with an obstructed view of the park.
For those who prefer their nature wild and untamed, the 10-minute drive to Smith & Bybee Wetlands Natural Area will uncover an oasis. With over 2,000 acres of wilderness, you can explore these wetlands by foot, bike, or kayak. As one of the largest urban freshwater wetlands in nation, Smith & Bybee serves as a habitat for beaver, bald eagles and western painted turtles.
After an evening of exploration, allow yourself to wind down in the modern industrial atmosphere of Swift & Union, owned by Tabor Tavern proprietor Ken “Zig” Naffziger. Swift & Union’s menu executes a range of dishes equally exciting to both meat eaters and their vegetarian counterparts.
In the style of a small town, many of central Kenton’s establishment close around 10. However, Kenton still has a lot to offer night owls. In addition to a selection of dive bars that include the allegedly haunted Kenton Station, Kenton Club and Tavern on Denver, you can also find a robust bill of events at the Portland International Raceway.
Unlike many other neighborhoods in Portland, Kenton seems slower transition to demands of the growing city and it remains, at heart, an intimate community
Getting Around:
The property has a Walk Score of 79 out of 100. Kenton is also considered a “Biker’s Paradise”. This location is Very Walkable so most errands can be accomplished on foot. Conveniently located in the popular Kenton, North Portland neighborhood. Blocks to Fred Meyer, local restaurants & amenities, Kenton Park, and the MAX light rail station. (0.2 miles to MAX Yellow Line) Easy access to I-5 and the Airport. Closest MAX station is MAX Station on North Lombard. Once you get to the MAX station you can easily access the entire City of Portland. Minutes to downtown, Portland waterfront and Washington Park.
Nearby parks include Farragut City Park, Kenton Park and Peninsula Park. Property is also convenient to University of Portland Campus and the Adidas Campus.

Portland City Code requires that we keep a log with the Name, Address and Vehicle Information for ALL guests. This will be required before check in. If you are renting a vehicle, we will need the License Plate number or we will need to note alternate transportation (ie; air, train, bike) Please provide this information with your confirmed booking.

~ If you will be bringing a vehicle, we need the make, model, and license number

Cute North Portland spot
Cute and quiet spot in North Portland. Check in was easy and it was a great place to rest our heads after a long day. There was plenty of parking on the side streets, and more than enough room to accommodate our vehicle and cargo trailer. We appreciated the popcorn for a midnight snack!

Surprisingly quiet retreat
I always appreciate location and this one surprised me with the convenience to locations like the store and good restaurants as well as how quiet it was considering how close to I5 it is. The bed was soft and the showerhead was a good height. The bathroom was snug since the washer and dryer were in there, but manageable. There is on street parking that is shaded.

Our stay here was unfortunately a bit rough. The neighborhood didn’t feel very welcoming. There was quite a bit of trash around outside, and we frequently heard yelling and honking outside. Street parking was also challenging, and we often had to park near the end of the block.Check-in itself was easy, but when we entered the unit, there was a strong odor of smoke mixed with a chemical smell. We tracked part of it down to a mop bucket, which we moved outside. The smoke smell improved after a few hours while we were out, but it wasn’t a great first impression.That night, we discovered the bed sloped significantly toward the center, making it very uncomfortable to sleep on. We initially tried to ignore it, but by 3 a.m. we had to move to the sofa bed, which wasn’t much better. The next morning, we contacted the property manager, who was responsive and came by to try to fix the issue. While they made an effort, the bed continued to dip, so we ended up using the sofa bed for the remainder of our stay. It’s worth noting that a new bed frame was being delivered, so this may be resolved for future guests.Overall, the property felt somewhat worn and in need of maintenance. Several items, like bathroom hooks and the door’s security lock, were either loose or improperly installed, which made the space feel less safe and well-kept than expected.We were able to make do for the weekend, but it's difficult to want to reccommend this property with the number of issues we had.
