Dear Liz, please excuse me for writing in german, but i think that i would`t find the right words in english to describe our wonderful stay in the Mews.
It´s a wonderful place between the mountains and the country . So peaceful and lovely. Liz is a very nice person and she was very trying that is all allright in our house and that we find all the lovely places and restaurants in the near.
And don´t forget Tara! Tara is a very good and beloved dog and she has beware us every night. My kids and me love her and the other farmer animals (donkeys, cats and horses).
Dear Liz, thank you very much for your trouble and we wish all the best for you and lovely greetings from the boys (Finni and Dominic)
After a week of total remoteness and recovery in the mountains of County Galway we came to The Mews and found an also remote but perfectly situated "base camp" for various day trips in eastern Ireland.
The place and the owner, Liz, are great and charming, the cottage large and very peaceful, it was really a perfect holiday week. Everything was exactly as described in the online ad (a lot of things even better), and the pre-trip communication with the owner was absolutely perfect (how to reach, what to take care of, ....). The Mews is definetely a place to send your best friends to, and also to come back and enjoy it again.
There are so many places of interest inside an one hour drive circle which makes it impossible to name all of them, but our favourite was the Altamont Garden, a very special place of beauty and peace, a wonderful combination of artificial and wild nature.
An additional "bonus" is Tara, the dog of the house, perfectly educated with very nice behaviour, we really loved to have her as a guard in front of the summer room.
Dear Liz, thanks a lot for letting us stay in your beautiful place, all the best for you and your family (and for all the animals ....).
Very peaceful location, lovely setting at the foot of a field & with a private garden. It is part of a farmyard complex which makes it more interesting as there is the 'big house' & a stables attached. The cottage surpassed our expectations from the website & in our view is bigger & lovelier than the photos demonstrate. The Mews is the perfect cosy cottage that you'd hope for; it has been modernised whilst retaining character features. The living room is v. comfortable & I imagine very warm & cosy on chilly evenings with the wood stove lit & the curtains drawn. The additional summer room (breakfast/dining room) is a lovely light spot to sit looking out & makes the cottage much more spacious than it might otherwise feel. The bathroom is a modern wet room with fab shower. The bedroom is comfy & cosy & traditional. The owner was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Although the cottage backs onto a yard with stables & visitors coming & going, it caused no disturbance for us at all. The owner has a dog who often keeps guard of The Mews but is impeccably behaved. It isn't a good location if you're looking for nightlife as it's a few miles to the nearest town but then there's no need to go out when staying in such a lovely place. Although the cottage is passed by The Wicklow Way, the local walks often involve conifer forests forestry commission style; the local scenery is pleasant but not dramatic. However, it's about an hour's drive to The Wicklow Mountains which are fantastic & well worth a visit expecially Glendalough where there are different waymarked walks. English walkers note that there is not the proliferation of footpaths in Ireland that we are used to in England. Kilkenny made a good day trip for sightseeing & culture. It took us (driving on the slower side) approx. 1.5 hours from Dublin airport to get to The Mews. Highly recommended for the cottage itself especially.
Wonderful stay !! the cottage is nice I recommend !!
A beautiful home , the house is beautifully decorated and spacious no complaints .
During this week we had the company with Pie And Coccie and horse and donkey Liz are lovely we love animals it gave more to it!
We visited the Wicklow National Park with its lakes, Irish coast , Glendalough, Killkenny , Dublin ...
Beautiful scenery great people and a very relaxing atmosphere!
Thank you to Liz for hospitality and hope to return soon !
We loved our time at the Mews at Aghowle House. We found the accommodation very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the sun room and the wood fire was pleasant after a day of touring. The bed was very comfortable. We spent our time driving around to the many interesting sites within easy traveling distance. We were entertained by the dogs especially Pi. The horses and Peter the donkey were just lovely and good subjects for the many photos I took. Did I mention the super sunsets? Wow! The hosts provided a binder full of information about the accommodation and the local area but were available to answer questions and provide any needed assistance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the countryside and recommend this property. Hopefully we will get back ourselves.
