Brasstown Bald Getaway story...
Stock up on firewood, food, and drinks, come on up to Brasstown Bald Getaway, put your phone on Do Not Disturb, and treat yourself to a blissful North Georgia retreat.
Tucked into the rolling green landscape that meets the slow-moving Georgia clouds at the horizon, the medium sized cabin is perfect, and has everything you need — as well as plenty of tasteful luxurious touches.
Ideal for couples or intimate groups, this mountainside lodge was designed to be an oasis of peace, pampering, and relaxation deep in nature — yet close enough to towns and activities to ensure you’ll always have exploration and adventure available for when you’re ready to lace up your hiking boots (or flip flops), or put on that nice dress or button-down shirt and head out for a meal or drink.
In my humble opinion, the master bedroom, with its open plan design and jacuzzi tub, is the centerpiece of the cabin, but other SVR staff are all about that deck, bbq, and view… while the chefs among us can’t get enough of that big kitchen with everything you need to cook up a storm. Now that I think of it, the living room is pretty spectacular, too. On one of my visits I sat on that leather rocker thingamajig you see in the photo, and seriously considered just moving in, right then and there.
I don’t know what to tell you: come on up then let me know after where you spent the most time.
The fenced in front yard is pretty nifty if you have roaming doggos and/or kiddos. Both are allowed, but make sure to see the details below.
The lodge is remote enough for you to feel like you’re having a back country woods adventure, but is in fact, close to civilization and many things to do. Blairsville is pretty spectacular, as far as cute Georgia towns go, with lots of great food, local produce, and drink. Helen, the self-proclaimed “Georgia’s Official Outdoor Adventure Destination,” is, well, a great jumping off point for some awesome outdoor adventure, sure, but also has a replica Bavarian alpine village in it, for some reason, that is, admittedly, charming as heck.
Check out our personal favorites below, book your stay, then connect with me so I can personally help you plan your North Georgia experience of a lifetime.
Pro Tips & Local Wisdom
Hike Vogel State Park to the mesmerizing cascades of Trahlyta Falls and take in amazing views of Blood Mountain.
Taste the best of Georgia grown produce at Lasso the Moon Alpaca Farm and Reece Heritage Farm.
Visit Brasstown Bald, the highest point in the entire state of Georgia, for breathtaking panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Explore the smaller Lake Winfield Scott, and the 4,180-acre Lake Nottely, and enjoy boating, swimming, fishing, picnicking, hiking and camping — and Lake Nottely’s 106 miles of shoreline.
Stroll Georgia’s very own Bavarian village in Helen, and make sure to grab a pint of German pilsner and a bratwurst.
Check out the 100-foot Helton Creek Falls in Blairsville’s deep hardwood forest.
Head over to Jim’s Smokin’ Que, a legendary Georgia smokehouse, for some of their succulent ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken and turkey.
Have a taste, a glass, or a bottle at Odom Springs Vineyards, and enjoy 16 acres of lush landscape that has been in the Odom family for a century.
Have a cup or bite at Cabin Coffee Co. in Blairsville — if you’re lucky (or check their social media) you’ll catch the Blairsville Cruisers Car Club and see some impressive autos.
