The Neighborhood:
Our cabin is nestled in quiet Cascade, Colorado at the foot of Pikes Peak, offering breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere. Explore the quaint and historic mountain neighborhood, and access local hiking trails just outside your door. Enjoy local dining at The Wines of Colorado, just a 5 min drive away. The entrance to the Pikes Peak Highway is just 2 miles from the cabin, making it easy to explore the stunning surroundings.
Cascade offers a charming local scene with parks, a rock shop, a pickle shop, and restaurants. Nearby, Green Mountain Falls offers more hiking, a memorable breakfast spot (The Pantry), a great dive bar (The Blue Moose), and more within just a few minutes by car.
Getting Around:
You'll want to bring your own transportation for getting around the Ute Pass area. The cabin is conveniently located just off HWY 24, providing easy access to Manitou Springs 10 minutes east, featuring shops, attractions, and more dining options. The drive to Colorado Springs is only 15 minutes, where you can visit Garden of the Gods, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and the new Olympic Museum. Woodland Park, 10 minutes to the west, offers grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops, and tap rooms as well.
Other Things to Note:
+ The cabin is at 8,000 ft elevation; please prepare for possible snow from mid-October to May.
+ Please note we do not stock firewood. Consider picking up a bundle or two if you'd like to use the stove during your stay.
+ The last quarter mile of the road is gravel and may develop minor ruts. While a good AWD/4WD vehicle is recommended, it is not necessary unless it snows. The final portion of the drive is narrow with limited space to turn around, which may require backing up from the driveway on your way out. Please use caution to ensure your vehicle stays safely on the road, as there is a steep cliffside.
+ Start hydrating well a few days before you travel, it helps with the altitude adjustment.
+ In the summer months, each of the three bedrooms will be equipped with very quiet Midea window AC units to ensure your comfort. The main living area and loft can be quickly cooled by opening windows and patio doors, and turning on the fans.
+ Cell reception may be limited; WiFi is available with a very strong connection through Starlink but can experience very occasional outages.
+ The cabin is two stories with a loft. Please be prepared to navigate indoor and exterior stairs during your stay.
+ No outdoor fires are allowed due to high fire danger. You may smoke outdoors when local fire regulations allow, but please take care to ash only in the trays provided and to completely extinguish all butts.
+ Please respect the peace of the residential neighborhood by observing quiet hours starting at 10pm.
+ The property is shared with local wildlife; please do not leave trash or food outside.
+ Absolutely no pets are allowed.
+ We reserve the right to collect ID from guests before allowing access to the property.
+ Our team sets out linens appropriate to the number of people on your reservation so please make sure your reservation accurately reflects the number in your party. Be aware that we charge a $15/night fee for additional guests after 4.
+ Check in is at 5pm and check out time is by 10am. We do our best to accommodate early check in and/or late check out requests. We offer these based upon our housekeeping team's approval as their schedule can be demanding and for an additional fee of $20 per hour if granted. Please note, the earliest check in time available is 2pm and the latest checkout time we can accommodate is noon.
+ Sorry, but weddings, commercial photo/video shoots, and similar events are not allowed at Cabin on a Hill. Parking too limited to accommodate such events. Please reach out to us if you need help finding a venue for your event or large gathering.
Interaction with Guests:
We love helping guests make the most of their time in our beautiful area and live very close by. However, we give our guests space unless they ask for help or want to say ‘hi’ in person.
