We are so sorry that we were not a good fit for your family and we would have welcomed the opportunity to address any of these items during your stay. We are not set up to accommodates guests who come with extensive luggage for 2 nights -- 3 large garage storage bins, a rolling ice chest and full suitcases and some bedding for each person. The pictures do accurately display the space available which has some limits, but most usable surfaces are clear or an item or two could easily be moved temporarily. With the multiple decks (3) and the attic as well as the rooms there are a variety of places to hang out. This is actually our vacation home as well, so we have many more amenities than other rentals, such as kitchen accessories/spices/condiments, bedding options, books, puzzles & games. The dressers are empty (except the bottom drawers in the MB) and there is hanging closet space in all of the rooms except the Yankee room that has no closet. There is a luggage bench in the master bedroom and horizontal suitcase space in two of the other bedrooms if you don’t choose to use the dresser drawers. We are a pet friendly house, but I was at the house right before this visit inspecting the house with a new cleaning person and I personally did not see any pet hair as described and there was no open food in the refrigerator, (other than butter in a butter dish – which you could easily replace with your own). The open item cited in the pantry (in our private email) was a jar of peanut butter in the section labeled “Ours to Use” – which is not meant for guests. Bob our tenant is mentioned in our summary paragraph of our listing and in the summary notice we send a week before your visit so he should not have been a surprise and he is certainly not a risk for your adult daughter. Bob has been our tenant for 9 years; he does not have overnight guests although occasionally his adult daughter visits. He likes to use his convertible (stored elsewhere) on summer weekends so he switched cars, but it was just him. We were shocked to hear of all of these concerns that were raised days after your stay. We certainly might have been able to make some accommodations/explanations if given the opportunity to resolve these concerns.

The house may have been built as early as 1910 but has been updated over the years with an eye to keeping the original feel - seems like that has worked.

We're so glad you appreciate everything we do we've owned the house over 20 years and we constantly try to make improvements. I'd love to hear more about your mom's hotel. Hopefully she shared some of her information with the borsht belt museum they are always looking for information. It is definitely worth a visit if you haven't been there even though it's in the startup stages.
