I will first say all the good things about the cabin RV: the interior was clean and there were plenty of towels, bath products, kitchen amenities and seating for 2 to 4 people. There was plenty of hot water for me and my aunt and the oven worked well. The fire pit was great to sit out at every night, but you will probably need to bring your own wood to start a fire. The grill worked well, but the ignitor isn't working so you'll need matches. Outside of the issue discussed later the location was great! The loft area was generally too hot, as was the house during the day even with the air conditioners on, but for the most part you're going to be adventuring outdoors! Definitely go to the swimming hole listed in the book.
Now on to the bad: the owners messaged me at 10:00PM the night before our arrival that they rented the field below the cabin to 100 campers for the eclipse. I was shocked and a little heartbroken, but hoped for the best, as my aunt and I booked the property 8 months in advance specifically for the seclusion. The campers were noisy and it singularly ruined our trip and our peace during the eclipse event. Although the instructions say there is a lock on the gate, there is not...which we found open after the campers arrived and asked for assistance with security, to which a lock was promised, but never delivered. The owners' sons woke us up at 7:30AM our last day to ask to get something off the property, which frightened us at first, having experienced the security issue the day before. The grass wasn't cut around the property like in the pictures, so my aunt and I suffered several dozen chigger bites across our bodies. We couldn't get the stereo to work, but that didn't really bother us. Remember to check the windows, as we found several unlocked before we left the first day. Oh, and the instructions provided will give you an address that doesn't work on GPS. Use the house number given minus six to get there.
Overall, this could have been a really great experience. Instead of the owners letting us know in advance they planned to rent out the field to a 100 people, so we might be able to cancel and make more suitable arrangements, they were deceptive and waited until the night before. Requests to ensure our safety weren't dealt with. There won't be an eclipse event with noisy campers below when you potentially stay here, but you should know how the people you are renting from act and respond.
