Beautiful Lake Superior is just down the road and what better then a private guestroom themed after it?

The local Ojibwe name for Lake Superior is Gichi-Gami (pronounced as gitchi-gami or kitchi-gami in other dialects), meaning "great sea".

Nicknamed "The Superior Suite," this guestroom is the ideal romantic getaway! This suite offers a beautiful knotty-pine vaulted ceiling, one KING bed, 37" flatscreen Roku TV, personal wet bar with sink and 4 cup coffee maker, small table and chairs, and one bathroom. This is the only room that offers a jetted tub in the bathroom. Ask about our add-on's (roses, chocolates, bottle of wine, etc) to make your stay even more memorable.

Placement: upstairs Loft level, at the end of a short hallway. Remember, what belongings go up, must come down. Pack accordingly. There are no elevators in this facility. Nice view out the front of the building overlooking the Byway. Close to the upper level family/game area. Couples or single travelers only.

Waterfall Hikes

The Porkies are a great place to hike and see some beautiful scenery and waterfalls. The lodge was the perfect location being near the Black River and Lake Superior. Justin and Brittany couldn’t have been any nicer and accommodating.

Nice quiet property off the beaten trail; well maintained and clean. Lots of free activities to do at the lodge including billiards, pickleball, foosball, bags, puzzles, and board games. Dog friendly too! A convenience store on site, and a full bar in the basement which the owners attended to. They’ll even throw in a frozen pizza for you if you’re hungry after a long drive in late at night. Will visit again!

Our room was very nice. Spacious and clean. The property, generally, was rather worn looking. The proprietor could have been more friendly when we stopped in before check in simply to ask some sightseeing questions . She could also have been helpful with the luggage we were struggling with as we climbed stairs to our room.

Hi! We're Justin & Brittany. We are your hosts. Welcome!

So who are we? Just simple people striving to support our family in this crazy world. We are a family of 4 with the coolest dog (Pippin) and 2 cats (Bagheera "the Lodge Panther" & Buttercup the kitten). We came to the U.P. in 2014 ultimately wanting something different from the everyday 9 to 5 grind. We found the lodge for sale online, made the drive all the way from lower Western Michigan for a showing and decided... why not?! We found the Lodge to be very unique and had incredible potential. We went home with a vision and had our bags packed to head north on a U.P. adventure in a matter of weeks. And, an adventure it truly has been! This place has been our labor of love ever since.

For over 10 years, we've immersed ourselves in our community and made it our mission to essentially live like tourists (when we can between hosting, housekeeping, & reno's) so that we can pass along our experiences to our guests. Our area is a recreation hot spot in all seasons and personally, we dabble in a bit of everything! From motorized sports to non-motorized sports, we have tons of recommendations and personal experience that you won't get at any ordinary accommodation. Currently, our "tween-age" kids have us deep into Hockey & skiing/snowboarding in the winter, and off-roading and hiking in the summer. We'll send you to only the best places and if we are ever unsure then we most likely have a community contact who can help. Guests contribute to our knowledge base as well. We enjoy getting to know you and hearing about your daily adventures.

Our lodge is a great middle option of a private vacation rental and a brand hotel. The entire space feels very cozy and homey like a vacation rental, but we offer all private guestrooms (with private bathrooms) like a hotel. All of our rooms are unique in one way or another. As live-in onsite hosts, we enjoy providing a more personal experience and provide recommendations of unique, hidden gems that most wouldn't find on their own. We are lovers of the outdoors who thoroughly enjoy traveling and making memories with our kids in fun, unique places. Before purchasing the lodge, our travels were mostly confined to the Eastern UP and Northern Lower Michigan. Now, as residents of the Western UP, we've made it our mission to essentially live like tourists (when we can between hosting & housekeeping) so that we can pass along our experiences to our guests. Guests contribute to our knowledge base as well. We enjoy getting to know you and hearing about your daily adventures.
