Welcome to Puako Kai Hideaway, a beautifully updated vacation home in charming Puako. Located only minutes away from world class beaches, surf, scuba, snorkeling and golf. Extensive resort amenities, restaurants, shops and farmers markets are a short drive away.

This minimalist beach style home is equipped with everything you need for your Hawaii vacation. The spacious chef's kitchen with seating for up to five includes a full sized fridge, dishwasher, and gas range for days you prefer to cook at home. The spacious lanai with an ocean view, nestled within the palms, boasts an outdoor teak dining set perfect to enjoy meals, and relaxation in the open air.

Once you've enjoyed the stunning sunsets of Hawaii from the shoreline access only steps away, you can return home to get cozy. A comfortable living room set, including full size couch and designer chairs awaits your return to enjoy evenings filled with all the latest from the smart TV.

Off the open concept kitchen/living space you'll find a spa influenced bathroom complete with walk in shower and double sinks.

Very clean, well appointed place on Puako Beach Rd. The owners live on site and are very available for any questions and/or issues but are not intrusive in any way to the experience of being in the rental unit. We would stay there again!

Our family of five loved our recent stay. The place was exceptionally clean, beds were comfy, towels were nice, kitchen equipment more than adequate. It was nice to have laundry, parking, and a lanai. The location is amazing with shoreline access along Puako bay and a little store in walking distance for treats. All but one shoreline access has a rocky entry but we were able to enter (with teens) and access amazing snorkeling. Gorgeous sunset views from access a 2-3 min walk away. Partial ocean view/ sunset view from lanai.

Excellent location, within easy walking distance to the General Store that offers limited groceries, sandwiches, the best chocolate chip Mac nut cookies. The location is also across from the beach, with easy public access. The air conditioning window units in the bedrooms were appreciated. Things to note, the laundry room is on the ground level in the “garage” and is shared with the owners that live onsite in a separate unit . Kyla and James were extremely respectful of our privacy and were quick to solve the problem of a cracked coffee carafe.

We had such a wonderful stay! This was a truly enjoyable stay from start to finish. The house is newly renovated, beautifully done, and incredibly comfortable. It felt welcoming the moment we arrived.The hosts were amazing, responsive, friendly, and genuinely helpful. When we realized the kitchen was out of coffee filters and mentioned it, they delivered them within 30 minutes. That level of care was truly appreciated.We absolutely recommend this place and would love to stay again!

Comfortable and clean home in a great location. Lots of beach access points within walking distance. Nice kitchen with sharp knives, good gas grill and plenty of plates, glasses, bowls.The bedrooms have AC but we didn’t need them. All the windows have screens and there’s a great breeze. The property is accurately described in the listing. The location is remote and quiet. You are still driving distance to restaurants/grocery stores, but this does feel like a private oasis. You are also 5 min drive to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

A perfect vacation

The Puako neighborhood is quiet with great access to a snorkeling reef teaming with wildlife a young turtles. We watched sunsets over the water and thoroughly enjoyed the proximity to the water. Our accommodations were top notch. The bungalow was cool (lots of ceiling fans) and had everything we needed. It’s well setup for a family of 4 or 2 couples and has everything you need to enjoy Hawaii.

Perfect tranquil getaway

James and Kyla were incredible hosts and we absolutely loved the place. It was so thoughtfully curated - every detail made for a more comfortable stay: all lights on dimmer switches, blackout curtains, fans and A/C, all the amenities one could need (towels, umbrella, chairs, fins, snorkels, tupperware, etc). The place was nicely updated and immaculately clean. The nights were quiet and peaceful and the shore access to world class snorkeling was so close! The lanai and its views were heavenly. Would definitely stay again!

Wonderful stay in Puako

We stayed here for a more secluded area than the nearby resorts but it was also close to the conference I was attending. The host Kyla was awesome and super nice. Everything was very easy and the house had all the amenities we needed. The local beach was great for our young children and a little general store that was close. The food trucks (malasadas, fruit, coffee, at the highway stop wete also good. I'm short it was the perfect place for our trip!

Best VRBO ever!

Puako Kai Hideway was everything we needed and more! Quiet, immaculate, plenty of space, close proximity to all the beautiful beaches (turtle beach and Wailea are the best!) Our visit was special due to family circumstances, and our hosts Kyla and Jamie were so welcoming and accommodating. We plan to return next year and cannot wait! Puako Kai Hideaway is our new home away from home!

We stayed here for a week in March 2025 and had a wonderful time. This place is a great location in a quiet neighborhood next to the ocean. Seems to be a rarity. Easy shoreline access and relaxing lanai where we had breakfast everyday. The house was spotless with nice decor and a great relaxing feel. Located very close to some of the best beaches on the island. Our hosts were very helpful and friendly.

Outstanding. The only flaw is that I can’t live there full-time! The other reviews are spot on: pristine accommodations, stunning nature, super thoughtful hosts. We usually stay in the busier central areas, but I loved (actually preferred) how tucked-away Puako was —a true escape to peace and quiet. Kyla and James are the perfect hosts: immediately available if ever you have a question, and otherwise just the nicest people who make it feel like this awesome house is all yours. That’s the sign of a dream getaway. Thank you, Kyla and James (and sweetest little pups in Hawaii)….. We’ll be back.

Puako house

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here during whale season, helping with volunteer whale counting. The house was great, well furnished, and with extras, spices, snorkel gear, beach towels, beach chairs. It's location in Puako is superb, very quiet. Views of the surf through trees across the street. Views of night sky very special, extra clear. Snorkeling was a little rough, was winter, had snorkeled here in Sept and nicer. But still saw and photographed good variety of fish. There are nice restaurants within easy driving distance, and a little store is within walking distance. The owners are delightful, always checking if all okay. I hope to stay again next year with a friend and made a tentative reservation.
