Great Harlem Brownstone

This was the perfect home base for our trip to New York City. It had easy access to the subway, grocery and store options, and great restaurants. The apartment was clean and well-apportioned. The garden was a lovely bonus in the city.

Excellent Location

This is a cozy well kept downstairs apartment. The walk out patio is a bonus that you don't usually find in the city. We loved the location because you could walk to all our favorites, Sylvia's, Red Rooster and the Apollo. Subway stops are convenient to downtown. Apartment is well equipped with anything that you could need. We did something as with all properties, and the manager was there within the hour. We will definitely stay here again.

Perfectly comfortable

We stayed about a week and the location could not be beat. It is only about two blocks from the Red line, shops and lots of restaurants, too. The kitchen had just just enough for us to prepare a few simple meals ourselves then hang out on the big comfy couch. We did bring some of our own blankets and pillows--there were no extras. Nothing fancy, but overall nice and relaxing.

We loved everything about his home! It is charming and very clean and tidy. It is a cozy place to stay with a lovely outdoor area. It is near everything, and so walkable! Angela is a wonderful host and very communicative. The check in instructions were clear and easy. We will probably come back since we were visiting our daughter in Harlem. Thank you!!!

Great apartment in great location

Me and my mother stayed for a week and had a wonderful time. The apartment itself is big and spacious but could have been a little bit cleaner. The area is nice with good shops, restaurants and bars nearby. Only a short journey by Subway into Manhattan for sightseeing. Great communication from host. Overall would recommend and would stay again.

Gap under the front door

All and all the stay was perfect but there was a gap of about two inches under the front door which made the apartment really cold, especially at night. We had to roll a towel under the door to slow the cold air.

The apartment is recommended

The photos already show the apartment. The big table, the big gas stove, the rooms. Everything is there to feel comfortable. What could be improved is that the number of plates is doubled and enough cutlery is provided. The street where the apartment is located is quiet and peaceful. The residents look at you with interest. We had a lovely, relaxing week in the apartment.

Very comfortable home in a nice block

I can really recommend this VRBO to anyone who’d like to explore Manhattan. I’d say don’t only try to venture south into the touristy areas, but also try to support the local shops in Harlem. The people truly care and deserve the respect. How much they care can also be experienced in this clean and lovely decorated home they set up. I can truly recommend a stay. An advise for European travelers: Yeah, of course as every metropolitan area New York has drug addicts or more criminal areas. Here I’d recommend to stay out of the projects, south Bronx and east Harlem.

It wasn't the worst stay , however there was tape on the bath tub water nozzle, mildew in the 2nd bedroom ceiling, rust stain in the tub and the area where the TV was had spiderwebs. The backdoor screen was torn off and the master bedroom blinds had gaps in it where if the light was on, someone could see in. Needs some work done for aure.

Disappointing at best

It is old, and shows. The photos don't show the problems. The floors are dirty, the varnish having worn off all over the place. The floors also sag significantly in places and creak and moan when you walk. Nice Viking stove/oven, but the vent hood above doesn't exhaust anywhere. The provided Keurig Mini was clogged and leaked water all over the counter and floor. I spent 30 minutes cleaning it so it would work again. The bathroom is tiny (which is to be expected), but most of the hardware is rusty from lack of ventilation. The water is soft, making the tub incredibly slippery when you soap up. Closet doors where stuck partially open/closed. Radiators only worked in part of the apartment. Very noisy in the front bedroom, from passers by and the person in the apartment above snoring. The sheets/mattress in the front bedroom reeked of perfume. No convenient outlet for phone charging. Incomplete renovations (e.g. partially painted drywall in the kitchen). No soap in the bathroom dispenser, but owners? shampoo and conditioner on the tub ledge. Garden patio is nice, but with moderate rain it flooded with 3 inches of water accumulating outside the back door. Back bedroom bed's mattress sags between the support rails. But, given how old and tired the place is, there were no bugs or rodents apparent. And the proximity to restaurants (Sylvia's) and the Red Line was great. Only close grocery option is Whole Foods. Apartment entrance nook is shared with basement?

Wir waren zu viert - eine Woche in NYC. Das Apartment war wie angegeben. Sehr geräumiger Wohn/Essbereich, mit allem was man braucht (Geschirrspüler, Ofen, Mikrowelle, Kaffemaschine, Wasserkocher). Die zwei Schlafzimmer waren ausreichend. Wobei das hintere Schlafzimmer kleiner war, das Bett schmaler (franzö. Doppelbett), vorn war es ein King-Size-Bett. Im hinteren Zimmer schien auch Wasser die Wänden herunter zu kommen, wenn es stark geregnet hat. Alle drei Räume hatten Klimaanlage. Das Bad ist klein, aber ausreichend. Der Hinterhof ist groß nur leider nicht so nutzbar, da er durch die Witterung ziemlich in die jahre gekommen ist. Die Lage war super. Wir haben uns sehr sicher gefühlt. Es war stets ruhig. Außer die Bewohner oben drüber hörte man, da die Böden sehr hellhörig waren. Zu den verschienden Subway-Stationen waren es nur wenige Gehminuten, sodass man mit vielen verschiedenen Linien schnell in der City war. Tolle Restaurants sind direkt in der Umgebung. Ebenso zwei große Supermärkte u.a. Trader Joes. Alles in allem, war es ein klasse Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Wenn man hier und da Abstriche macht & weiß, dass das ein oder andere nicht ganz so shcick ist, dann ist es echt super für mehrere günstige Tage in NYC.

Nette Unterkunft, aber die Sauberkeit vor allem im Bad ist nicht so schön.

Im großen und ganzen hat alles geklappt, der Schlüssel war hinterlegt, es gab keinen Kontakt mit den Vermietern. Wir hatten Oktober, zwar gutes Wetter aber trotzdem schon frisch, vor allem nachts die dünnen Decken von denen es nur zwei gab (bei 4 gemeldeten Personen) haben hier nicht gereicht, wir haben etwas gefroren. Leider war die Sauberkeit vor allem im Bad nicht so gegeben, dort war auch alles sehr rostig und daran noch Staub oder Schimmel. Fazit wer eine praktikable Unterkunft sucht die preislich in Ordnung ist, ist hier richtig. nicht so gut. Die Wohnung war praktisch, es gab einen Hinterhof der nur zur Wohnung gehörte

Etwas abgewohnt und wäre mit ein paar Reparaturen eine feine Wohnung ! Der Garten ist mehr ein Hof u leider nicht wirklich benutzbar da Sesseln dreckig u auch sonst nicht sehr gepflegt ! In der Nähe U-Bahn u City gut erreichbar!

Okay place if you spend most of the day in the city

I (from Switzerland) was visiting New York with my 15 year old teenager daughter. We used the place mainly just to sleep and for that it was okay. Nothing exceptional, but okay value for money. We were warned by local friends that the area is dangerous, but felt safe walking in and out of Harlem to the city as well as by tube at all times and had a really good time in NYC. Took a while to get the Wlan going due to a wrong password on the webpage, which should be corrected. Had no contact with the landlord, but chech-in and check-out worked well with key in the safe outside of the house.

La vivienda es perfecta para pasar unos días en Nueva York. La ubicación super cerca del metro.Si no hablas con nadie es seguro el barrio.Hay un supermercado a 5 minutos. Pondría 3 cubos diferentes de basura dentro de la vivienda para poder reciclar más fácil. Recomiendo hablar con la vivienda semanas antes, por qué mientras estábamos hospedados llegaron nuevos huéspedes con booking. Todo perfecto.Las camas grandes.

It wouldn’t take much to make this place a five star: answer texts, have the property clean and ready to check in on time, stock toilet paper, provide enough glasses, cups, plates, bowls, for four people for two days, clean the cabinets of old supplies from past guests, mop the floor, check the dishwasher, stock detergent, hose off the yard furniture, and put a deadbolt on the back door. Otherwise great location, spacious apartment, would recommend.

Alojamiento amplio. Cocina muy buena con muchos utensilios de cocina pero con platos, vasos, tazas y cubiertos muy justos. Eché de menos unos paños para secar la vajilla. El apartamento es cómodo y acogedor.Las habitaciones están bien y se pueden guardar bien la ropa y las maletas. Echo de menos en una de las habitaciones una persiana más ajustada a la ventana que dejé pasar menos luz por la mañana. Hay 3 aparatos de aire acondicionado: habitaciones y salón-cocina. El baño es pequeñito pero limpio y con bañera. Tiene 3 dispensadores con: gel, champú y acondicionador. Hay secador, y toallas suficientes. A 2 pasos de todo tipo de comercios, restaurantes conocidos (Silvias's; Red rosted,...) y supermercados.A 2 manzanas de las líneas de metro 2 y 3 (125 St). Por la noche para volver, no se notaba inseguridad alguna. Las imágenes que se ofrecen en el anuncio se ajustan a la realidad.

Nice apartment in Harlem

Nice apartment very clean and confortable. We had a small issue with a sink clogged but it was rapidly corrected by the owner. We never met with Angela but she answered our request very efficiently. The neighborhood is ok with plenty of good groceries nearby and also subway near the apartment.
