Wunderschönes, privates und gemĂŒtliches Ferienhaus im Wald von Kaloko Mauka (direkt oberhalb der Stadt Kona!). Dieses freistehende Ferienhaus befindet sich auf einem 1,6 Hektar großen GrundstĂŒck in einer Höhe von 250 Metern und ist von wunderschönen Ohia-BĂ€umen umgeben. Es liegt mindestens 100 Meter von der Hauptresidenz entfernt. Die EigentĂŒmer wohnen weiter unten auf dem GrundstĂŒck. Wilde HĂŒhner und einheimische Vögel gibt es zuhauf.
Kaloko ist ein besonderer Ort mit kĂŒhlerem Wetter als Sie in der Stadt finden. Es ist schön, sich nach einem heißen Tag am Strand hier oben zurĂŒckzuziehen. Nachmittags- / Abendregen tritt auf und sorgt fĂŒr perfektes Schlafwetter. Abends / morgens in den Wintermonaten kann es kĂŒhl sein, daher empfehlen wir leichte Pullover / Socken, wenn Sie kalt werden.
Wir befinden uns am Mount Hualalai direkt oberhalb von Kailua Kona. Dieses Haus mit einem Schlafzimmer hat eine kleine Terrasse auf der Vorderseite und eine grĂ¶ĂŸere Terrasse mit Garten auf der RĂŒckseite. Schön und abgelegen. Wonderful mountain cottage

We loved our stay here! The location was amazing - it felt like we were staying in the jungle. The cottage had everything we needed and some nice extra details (such as the mattress warmer for those chilly mountain mornings). If you’re thinking about staying here, do yourself a favor and book it!

This cottage was away from it all, which was what we wanted! Cozy, quiet, cute! Our host was so friendly and responsive, giving us great suggestions for restaurants and things to do! Everything we needed and wanted was there! We would not hesitate to stay there again! Highly recommend!

A beautiful place in the rain forest.

We really enjoyed this cabin the rain forest above Kona. The hot tub was a treat and the space very quiet and comfortable. Kona was only about 15 minutes away. Since it was winter, it was a little cool.

Charming, Romantic , Convenient Cottage

We had an amazing time ! The cottage is clean, comfortable and charming. The surrounding landscape is absolutely beautiful. Very quiet and secluded but a surprisingly easy and convenient drive to restaurants, grocery , beaches etc.!!! Caroline is so kind with wonderful, easy communication. We loved the coziness and variety of tropical plants surrounding the cottage. The cottage is comfortable and bright, loved sitting on the porch in morning and at night where we could do some bird watching. We didn't use the hot tub, just not our thing. Host was very welcoming and responsive when needed anything. We would stay here again!

Our third stay!

Over the last 5 years we have visited this property, or the cabin 3 times. It's in a great location, near everything we like to do on the Big Island. We like the higher elevation, cooler and away from the bustle of Kona, but close enough for easy access to snorkeling. Scott and Caroline have been the best; friendly, helpful, there when we needed them, but gave us our space as well. Perfect hosts! We will be back for visit number 4 at some point in the future.

Private, cozy & convenient!

We chose this property for the location, but the cottage's tranquil beauty and comfortable accommodations were a big bonus! Adding little personal touches like the fresh flowers, hand written welcome notes and hand sewn quilt on the bed made it so inviting. The cottage was well equipped with just about anything you might need. Best of all, our hosts were prompt and responsive with email communication and their directions/instructions were easy to follow. Thank you for a wonderful stay, Caroline & Scott!

Kona Mountain Cottage

I cannot begin to describe how much we enjoyed the cottage.. Absolutely everything we could have possibly needed was there. We loved the privateness of the cottage. It felt like we were miles from everything yet access to the beach, grocery stores, dining in Kailua, etc.. was only 15-20 minutes away. It is the perfect island getaway for two.. I’ve stayed at other vacation rentals on the island but this has by far been the best. From the cool temperatures, beautiful foliage and easy access to everything, I can’t imagine a better place to stay. We will most definitely stay here on our next trip to the Big Island.

Serenity with Nature at its Finest

The entire process from booking to checking in and out was as smooth as silk. Caroline & Scott are exceptional hosts, everything was explained in the letter with the keys, right down to the “what to do if this happens”. If you love being sung to sleep by frogs each night-look no further. The private hot tub came in handy our second night. The washing machine & dryer allowed us to pack light enough to carry on to our next island destination. The dehumidifier was an awesome addition as I was concerned about this-like said before they’re excellent hosts and have thought of everything.

Cozy Cottage

We loved this place! The cottage setting is an almost surreal Hawaiian cloud forest awash in lush vegetation and colorful flowers but only a 10 minute drive from Kailua-Kona. Caroline provided detailed directions with pics so we had no problem finding the place but the paved mountain road is a bit steep so make sure your rental car is up for the challenge. The house is comfortable for 2 adults and features a well stocked kitchen, plenty of bath linens, and a commercial grade washer & dryer set. We did not use the hot tub. We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 night stay.

Peaceful Stay

Great place for some quiet time. Surrounded by a beautiful rain forrest.. Very clean and had everything we needed. Water pressure a bit low in the shower, but not an issue. Plenty of hot water. Loved walking the area in the am. Our flight was delayed and it's very dark in this area, so had a rough time finding the place. Didn't realize at first we had to go through a gate. Have to get out to open and close. Not bad, but it rained a lot. Great place to get some R&R.

Private little paradise

Scott & Caroline, Thank you so much for having us stay in this little slice of heaven while we were on our elopement/honeymoon. This little gem was the absolute perfect, off the beaten path, romantic, relaxing, secluded getaway for the first part of our vacation. We loved the girls (the chickens) coming to say good morning and would love to come stay again! Next time we will think ahead and make sure to grab the beach gear that we didn’t think about until after we decided to go to the beach. Thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Lovely little cottage in the rain forest

Perfect, secluded little place -- away from the crowds and the resorts and up in the cool-air beauty of a lush Hawaiian rain forest. The airport, Costco, shopping and dining were all within a 10 to 20-minute drive. Caroline and Scott were amazing hosts and ensured everything was ready and well-communicated for our stay. They also provided beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, a cooler, and beach towels (we only used the towels, cooler and beach chairs - which you can wear on your back to carry. They also had fresh flowers for us and provided lots of recommendations for great restaurants. We didn't end up using the hot tub, although it was on and ready for us. One of our favorite things were the serenades of the Coqui frogs at night. We will most definitely stay here again!

Sweet Retreat

Are you looking for a posh spot that’s shiny and new, move on. If you’re wanting a place with all the comforts of home in a beautiful jungle setting, then you’ve come to the right place. Caroline and Scott are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet and have worked hard to make their place feel cozy and warm. Located in the Kona mountains, we were surprised at how much cooler it was up there than down at the shore. That made it perfect for spending our evenings stargazing in the hot tub. The king sized bed was very comfortable. The electric fireplace was a welcome addition to take the chill off the morning. We had many restaurants and activities that were located downtown, just 15 mins. away. We enjoyed visiting a coffee plantation, a chocolate farm, and a place that raised seahorses. The seasalt farm was also very interesting. We really loved our time at the cottage and would recommend it.

A nest in paradise

My husband and I so appreciated the privacy of the cottage in which we stayed. We were surrounded by trees and foliage of a wide variety, and the birds that sang from them. The hot tub was clean and right off the back door. Every room in the house had windows that were clean and easy to open and close to allow fresh air in. (No central heat/air.). We could see no other homes and interfaced with no other people although received a welcoming email by our hosts. The cottage had everything we needed, was clean and aesthetically pleasing. We did laundry (stacked washer dryer) and dishes (no dishwasher) with soap available. My only complaint was that internet was not always available, perhaps a blessing in disguise. Overall, it was exactly what we needed in terms of a retreat.

Sweet little sanctuary in the forest

My husband and I came here for 10 days to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and we were not disappointed! We have been to the Big Island many times, mostly camping and traveling. This time we decided to stay put and just RELAX! This sweet little cottage had everything we needed to do just that: complete kitchen, washer/dryer, a comfy living area with good internet, a very confortable queen sized bed with nice bedding, and last but not least, a hottub on the back deck access through a sliding glass door in the bedroom!! We soaked pretty much every evening after loafing on the beach or hiking in the rainforest. Evenings and mornings can be chilly up here so plan accordingly. The cottage is about 10 minutes up the side of the volcano from Kona with easy access to the coast, town and beaches. The cottage provided beach chairs, soft cooler and umbrella. Also boogie boards that we planned to but never used. All in all 10/10!

The cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway! The area is quiet and peaceful yet not too far from town. You have everything you need here-full kitchen, washer/dryer, the hot tub is a plus!

Perfect Stay

I have stayed at over 60 vacation rentals over the years, and this place I will remember for all time. First off, the communication with Caroline was immediate, helpful and kind. The location is AMAZING. You are in a rainforest, but no, it doesn't rain all the time. Quite the opposite. It is up at cool (that is relative in hawaii, 60-80 degrees) 2700 feet and when you drive down the driveway up to the house, and it's like a page out of 'where the wild things are" BEAUTIFUL and lush. The cottage itself is adorable, comfy and clean. The kitchen is stocked with anything you would need (including adult beverages in the fridge) The washer and dryer are a big plus. Don't like humidity? Turn on the de-humidifier provided. To make it absolutely perfect is the hot tub in the backyard under the million stars where you will be serenaded by a chorus of frogs. Divine. It is a super quick 13 min drive to the airport (closer than all the resorts) but you feel like you are a million miles away. The best beaches on the island (in my opinion) are also under 20 min. Will definitely stay again.

We love the Big Island and Kaloko-Mauka is the most beautiful mountain neighborhood with lush forest. After a hot day in Kona town, nothing is as refreshing as heading up mauna for some cooler weather! Native birds, trails, and acreage gives lots of privacy and serenity.
