The house was great and Pete was very communicative. It is an older house so the windows have a hard time closing once you open them and the first floor bathroom jad very pooe water pressure, but other than that, everything was as advertised. Also did not realize that the "hot tub" was the upstairs bathtub with the jets in it. Overall great time though. Loved the large table and extra table in the closet for our boardgames.

The house and property were excellent. Lots of nice touches in the house. Everything you could need for cooking and dining! Plenty of space for our crew of 7 adults and 6 kids ages 3-9 years old!

The property was large, clean, and a short walk from the beach. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The host responded very quickly to a problem with two windows. The parents and teens loved the upstairs living room with the large tv and the huge amount of seating. There were a couple of maintenance issues that were odd, but didn't impair our visit. The onlline photos were confusing. It would be good to label them as to which floor they are on and to be clear that the 2nd floor bedroom and the other one are connected. It would have been good to know ahead of time that there were a few beach toys and boards. I could not communicate with the host until I found that only texting works with him. This should be made more clear. After I started texting the host was immensely helpful.

Lovely week

My 4 children their spouse and 6 grandchildren stayed for a week. When it rained, we explored Salem and then another day, the Boston freedom walk. The rest of the week we spent on the beach. It was lovely there.

Perfection!!!

Our son was getting married at Hammond Castle. We wanted a very comfortable stay for all of us to be able to get ready for the wedding. It was perfection. Pete is an extraordinary host!!! He was so helpful and answered all of our questions very quickly. Cannot recommend enough!

House rules require the renter to wash and fold all towels before departure or face a penalty charge. Unreasonable--as early flights on departure don't leave time to wash and dry towels.A/C unit on second floor leaked water into the room and had mold. Water stains on the wall below the A/C unit indicates this has been an ongoing issue.Gas grill in back yard was unusable. Had to buy my own gas grill.Internet was slow and precluded some tv/streaming functions.

Great beach location for girls weekend

Had a great time at house. Pete was very accommodating allowing us to come in early to decorate for birthday celebration. The walk to beach was so close and convenient. Our group did a sunset cruise on the friki tiki and had a blast. House was nice to stay in. Bedroom in cellar was hot due to lack of AC but besides that house was perfect. Lots of room to hang as a large group. If your looking for steps to the beach this is the place

Wonderful house

This large, clean house served us well for a family gathering over the weekend. The owner was easy to deal with (although messages sent through VRBO platform were not responded to but presume that is an issue with VRBO and not the owner as he promptly responded to direct text messages). The beds were comfortable and the outside areas nice, although we had rain all weekend. Kitchen is modern and well equipped. Would highly recommend.

An inviting beach side home with tons of space for gathering and a very accommodating host!

This rental was planned for three siblings and their families to get to spend some relaxing time together and see Salem at Halloween! The home was beautiful, spacious and well equipped. We had 12 and a half (baby) guests, with no problems regarding sleeping arrangements. We were able to cook, dine together, host a murder mystery party, see the beach, and have separate down time without tripping over one another. The beach is a quick walk past a few other beautiful homes with lovely and helpful neighbors. Grocery store within 5 minutes, and pretty much all the dining one could want within a few minute drive. With respect to the host, Pete was a dream to work with. When we made the long drive from PA to arrive at 1 AM the day of check in, he allowed us to get into the property early rather than try to get a hotel for the night. Short of being responsible for towels, we weren’t saddled with odd cleaning responsibilities that private rentals are becoming known for. All in all, I could not recommend this property, host or town any more. We will absolutely be renting from Pete again!

The property was in a good location and was able to hold our family. Gloucester is a beautiful place to be. We did find some things that needed repair or and upkeep. The microwave was broken and the foosball table was also missing parts. We also were not able to use the garage as stated in the listing and the gas grill was falling apart, it worked but needs some care.

The stay at Pete's place was great. The location was excellent and the house was in fine condition. Unlike many large rentals, the wifi was better outfitted for a large group. Being walking distance to the beach is beyond perfect, which gives the location for this property an A. Walking distance to an ice cream place and lobster rolls is dangerous for my health too. I did make a request that some things mentioned at the check-in be moved to the rental agreement when booking, like how town trash bags must be purchased for your trash, and beach towels need to be washed and folded before departure. Pete and I discussed this over text and he was very professional with this feedback. I have no reason to believe he won't include this for future renters. Additionally, the propane tank on the grill was out. He replaced it himself at 8 PM that night, which was much faster than the other fixes I’ve encountered at other rentals. In summary the communication from Pete and overall experience was very good. This is a safe rental in a beautiful area you will enjoy and I would recommend.

Great time in Gloucester

We rented the house in Gloucester for my family, including grown children and a couple of grandkids. There was plenty of room for everyone, including a nice outdoor space. Kitchen was well equipped. Plenty of towels, linens,, etc. Plenty of parking for at least four cars. Less than two minute walk to the beach.

Great Location

This house was the perfect location for enjoying Long Beach. There is a short path directly to the beach and the kids were able to come and go all day. The house has plenty of room to spread out in and the kitchen area had plenty of space for a large group. Everything was clean and as advertised. We would definitely rent the house again. And the warm water in the outdoor shower was a nice benefit!

I will never work with this host or property again.

The story begins a few days prior to our stay when the host stalked me on a professional networking website -- which I use for my business -- and contacted me there which made me feel very unsafe and was not professional at all. Of course this followed up with a message that threatens us with ridiculous fines like hundreds of dollars if we don't wash the towels in the laundry(!) and leave them clean to the next guests (never seen anything like this at anywhere I stayed in). He also made us buy our own trash bags for the weekend(!). Upon arrival, the hot water didn't work. I spent hours on the phone with the host and he had no idea how to fix it - just told me to wait. We ended up waiting and the hot water returned but then vanished and returned all throughout our stay - clearly a problem. The host had my number after the hot water incident and during our stay used it to solicit us to book not via vrbo next time (without the protection) - again not something professional. We stayed at the house 3 families - military veterans, top tier software engineers, Harvard PhD's. We left the house SPOTLESS CLEAN and even added additional laundry powder because the place ran out! We asked for late check out, host wanted more money. We asked really nice and he said we can take 3 more hours which we ended up not using, and fully checked out on time with a house that is 100% spotless clean. One week after we left the host started contacting me on text messages again making a ridiculous claim about a "missing item". We left everything as is and took nothing. There were other guests in the house as well as cleaners, for some reason the host kept non stop texting me on a Sunday night and ended up blaming us for the missing piece WITH NO PROOF. I am disputing the claim on vrbo and will get my money back, but I will never ever stay again in this property or with this host who made me feel insecure and unsafe. One star and even that is too much!

Long Beach Vacation Rental

The location of this property is great, just a few steps from a beautiful beach and, overall, we had a great time. The property was also very clean upon our arrival. Both the main living floor and the upper level have large open areas and are very comfortable. The kitchen was also very well stocked for a rental. These two floors, however, really only have two private bedrooms and one of the bedrooms is right off the kitchen, not great for sleeping in. The upper level bedroom is huge and does have an additional small space with bunkbeds but there is no door in between for privacy. Two additional bedrooms are on the ground floor (basement) but this level does not have air conditioning which was not clear to me from the VRBO description of the property. Fans were available but prospective renters should be aware of the lack of air conditioning, esp. in the summer. The grill in the back yard was also basically unusable. The propane tank was empty upon our arrival and once we bought a new tank, the grates were in such poor condition that we never used it again. We also had an issue with the back door sticking. The first time this happened we could not get out of the rental unit so we called the manager. He replied promptly and told us to use more force with the door so he was definitely aware of the issue which should have been corrected. We loved the location but would not rent again.

We typically don't comment on any reviews, however since this the first non 5 start review we have ever received in 9+ years of doing this. I feel its required and justified. We rent our home out as we are happy to be able to share the experience of our home at the beach with other families to make life long memories. This response might save another home owner from renting to people who leave this kind of a review. We do our best to make each stay perfect and go out of our way for guests. Thank you for noticing the house was spotless, as we have spent may extra hours making sure the house is safe in this Pandemic. We have done our best for the house to be available. Priority! 1: The lower level does stay cooler and if you keep the doors to the lower section open it cools off, plus the fans. Being on the ocean, just open the sliders and windows and the breeze will cool it off during the evening. Its amazing! 2: We have an extra propane tank at the house and if you called I would of told you this. As for buying a new tank, it wasn't at the house after you left, so I assume you returned it. The clicker for the grill is in the kitchen, if you called and asked I would of helped you with this. Its very common with all grills I have had. I didn't say a word about how the grill was taken apart and made to be like a charcoal set up as I found if after you left. We ordered new grates weeks before your stay and due to the pandemic have taken a lot longer than expected. Sorry the grates had not been as you had expected. I take fault for them not showing up quickly in this pandemic, so that one is on me. 3. Additionally, the bedroom you mentioned without a door, actually does have a door and its right next to the doorway you walk in to the room. Not sure how you didn't see it and decided to leave a negative review on it. Its literally right there as guests put it on/off as required for families who might have little kids close by for parents. A phone call/text would of been the best 4. As for the door lock? No, I did not know this was a problem. When you did call me on this, I had said someone must of turned or pressed the lock button and got it stuck in the middle. While on the phone with you and discussing what it might be, the lock suddenly popped into place and started working for the rest of the stay. I felt bad and actually replaced the whole lock set up after the stay, as things will get worn out over time. Happily, this is not the house for you!

Gloucester reunion

We enjoyed our stay. The kitchen is well equipped.and the living room and dining room are very nice We thought the plastic covering on the dining room table was a “bit much.” Also, the rental was not inexpensive. We do not think we should have had to buy the garbage bags. The house is designed for families. If all seven of us had shown up we would have had problems with bedrooms . The little bedroom off the master is good for children but not so good for older people. However, we all enjoyed our stay. The location is very good.

Wonderful family reunion

The house is beautiful in a wonderful location. It is an easy drive to Gloucester or Rockport and you can see Long Beach from the house. Pete was extremely easy to work with. We had people from 5 different states and no one had a complaint. One of the family members liked the mattress in her room so much that she went home and ordered the exact same model!

Gorgeous!

We celebrated our son's wedding on Cape Ann September 23, 2017. The location is just a short walk to the ocean for a lovely walk on the beach. The spacious house is beautiful inside with 3 bathrooms to accommodate us all on the big day! The groomsmen had lovely pix taken outside to the sound of waves crashing. Convenient location to everything. Thanks Pete!

Our large group that included 3 families had a great time at this home. The home was spacious and clean. Had everything to offer. The backyard and back porch area is quite comfortable and a great hangout for a backyard barbecue and happy hour !!!! Pete was great ---
