Das Black Pearl Cottage ist ein einzigartig gestaltetes, wunderschönes Strandhaus mit spektakulärem Blick auf die Monterey Bay. Dieses Haus befindet sich im Herzen des Stadtviertels Seabright und gehört zu den historischsten Strandhäusern in der Gegend von Santa Cruz. Das Cottage verfügt über einen angelegten Garten mit Blumen und kleinen Wegen sowie Gartenmöbeln, um draußen zu sitzen und auf das Meer zu schauen. Das Wohnzimmer bietet einen Holzkamin am River Rock und einen uneingeschränkten Meerblick. Ein Flachbildfernseher mit Kabel- und DVD-Player im Wohnzimmer, Satellitenradio und Highspeed-WLAN sind ebenfalls vorhanden. Das Hauptschlafzimmer hat auch Kabel-TV. Rückraum bietet Holzkohlegrill und Holz-Whirlpool. Das Black Pearl Cottage befindet sich auf der Westseite des Hafens, nur ein paar Häuserblocks entfernt, um mit dem Yacht Harbor Taxi zum Crows Nest zu fahren und ein Mittagessen oder Frühstück am Meer in Aldos Restaurant und Bäckerei zu genießen. Die berühmte Strandpromenade, das Naturkundemuseum, die Seabright-Brauerei, Betty's Burgers, das Pacific Edge Climbing & Yoga Gym und das Café Java Junction sind zu Fuß erreichbar. Perfect Place for our Annual Beach Getaway!

We absolutely loved our stay at this beach cottage! The location couldn't be better. Just steps from Seabright Beach, restaurants, and the boardwalk. The views were stunning, and there were safe spaces around the property for the kids to play. The house itself was charming and comfortable with cozy beds and everything we needed for our annual family trip. The property manager was friendly and quick to respond to any questions. Already looking forward to next year!

This was my first time renting a vacation home. I really enjoyed the stay and did'nt want to go home.The view was beautiful and the house was charming. The only negative things I can say is that it was a very hot day when we arrived and it took a very long time to cool the house down. The windows facing the ocean dont open, so you don't get the breeze. Also the beds could be more comfortable. Great place over all.

Perfect seabright vacation house

This house is perfect except for no AC in hot months. But there are fans and good restaurants near. Also a market near and the boardwalk is in walking distance.

Eclectic property with an amazing view.

Great location with the beach access point steps away from the front door. House has an amazing view of seabright beach down to the pier. The house does get warm on hotter days and even with the combination of open windows and fans it was a challenge to keep the temp manageable in a few of the rooms at night.

Great location!

The house was great and the location unbeatable. The only issues were: 1. There is absolutely no cupboard space for any food items. We had to keep things in cardboard boxes on the floor. 2. The wifi is abominable. The router is in the master bedroom and the signal is very weak or non-existant in the living room.

Mixed emotions

We just spent a week at Black Pearl Cottage with family & friends and it was a bitter sweet experience. I will start by saying that the exterior of the cottage was whimsical and full of magic. The location was perfect and within walking distance to many activities. However, the cleanliness and state of the interior was very disappointing (copious amounts of spiders and webs behind beds and in all corners, dust on surfaces, mold & mildew, ripped, dirty broken furniture...), especially considering the cleaning charge incurred by all renters. With a bit more effort and attention to details, this rental would be truly amazing.

Amazing Ocean Views

The location of this home provides the most amazing views and I loved listening to the sound of the ocean every night. The home is conveniently situated and everything you need is either a quick drive or walk away. But being able to walk out the door, down the stairs and be on the sand was the main reason we rented this house. You just cannot beat that. The home is a little dated as others have mentioned. However the pictures are accurate. What you see is what you get. Suggestions I would give that would have improved our experience are, more kitchen dish towels. We were provided 2, which was not nearly enough for an entire week at the house cooking and cleaning up. A quick inventory of basic kitchen items would be helpful. Things like a peeler, a grater that isn't broken and measuring spoons, would have made the week in the kitchen a little easier. Oh and the dining table is so old and the leaves in the middle so warped, we had a hard time keeping glasses upright. But minus those very small things, the place is cozy and comfortable and I would certainly recommend this place to friends.

Pandemic Oasis

As our first family get-together in almost 2 years due to COVID, we could not have asked for a better place. The Santa Cruz area has high vaccination rates and most people were wearing masks indoors, so we felt very safe. The house is in an ideal location, on a bluff overlooking Seabright Beach. The weather was perfect, as expected, and free of the smoke from California (and other) wildfires. And, of course, Santa Cruz! Wonderful beaches, restaurants, the Boardwalk, the lovely flowers along the coast and in neighborhood yards. Just really a lovely place to be. The house is not a mansion, but the open floor plan makes it feel quite spacious. The appliances are all fairly modern, and they all work as expected. The view from the main room is stunning at all times. The windows, although a little tricky to operate, were entirely sufficient to cool the place, and we never missed air conditioning. We loved sitting in that area and just watching the ocean, the people, the birds, and the boats. A great place to relax.

Outstanding location and the VIEW!

This is our second time staying at this fabulous location, bike ride or walk to the boardwalk and the pier, we recommend booking a “Chardonnay Sunset Sail”, you can walk to the harbor in 5 min and enjoy an amazing sunset sail w/ food and wine . The house sits on a cliff and the view is breathtaking. We ate breakfast and dinner on the outdoor patio and just soaked it all in. It’s a hidden gem or should I say “hidden black Pearl”

Excellent with a couple of concerns

My wife and I are not whiners, but we do need to mention a couple of concerns, especially given the premium price demanded by this property. But first the good news: This property has arguably the very best view on Monterey Bay than anywhere else in Santa Cruz. It sits high on the east cliff for a completely unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean. Gorgeous sunrises & sunsets. The property also has a gorgeous front room with a circular architecture that allows a 90 degree plus vista. with a working wood burning fireplace. Our concern was with an ant problem. We woke up the first morning to find thousands of tiny ants all over the kitchen walls and in several of the kitchen cabinets. We did contact management but they could not guarantee any assistance until the end of the day at best, so we needed to spend several hours killing and cleaning up ants.Management eventually sent out an exterminator but it took three days to completely eliminate the problem. The other issue was one we had seen in previous reviews and that is a very weak wi-fi system which kept knocking you off the system so you had to go to the rear of the house to reset you device to re-obtain wi-fi. The fix is so easy; a new more powerful wi-fi modem or a repeater in the front of the home. Both a relatively cheap fix.

Breathtaking views, sounds of the surf

The location is fabulous, overlooking Seabright Beach. Stairs down to the beach nearby. Loved watching the whales from the patio, and listening to the surf at night. Downsides: slow wifi, a bit musty bedroom, small kitchen. Pros outweigh cons, we'd come back.

The location was breathtaking, ocean front view, sounds of the crashing waves at night.

Location, Location, Location! Really enjoyed only a walk down steps to the beach, full front ocean view from the cottage. The house has all original windows, have to be very careful opening them, high risk of breaking. The owner had some amazing wood work in the cottage, it’ was appreciated! I would recommend a window washer after a guests stay, the view is the best part, I took the liberty of cleaning the front ones to appreciate the view better. House is a hidden gem!

Cozy home, very clean. You would be hard pressed to beat this location, it was amazing.

A+ location, cute house, annoying check in

This is a lovely house, maybe a little out dated but completely charming. The front yard is a gorgeous garden/place to eat and look at the beach. The last property we rented had some old bikes in the garage for our use which I would have LOVED to find here, but no. BUT the check in process requires driving on the highway to the next small city, in the opposite direction of the airport to get and drop off the keys, instead of having the house accessible by a lock box. I’ve rented a fair number of VRBO’s and his was a frustrating first.

Thank you for your review. All of Kendall & Potter properties offer the Xplorie where you can get bike rentals each day. 5 activities per day 1 ticket per day just a 24 hr advance reservation! Yes we do have check in /out at our office so we can meet the guests and be able to help if needed further.

Cute house, great location!

Perfect for our needs. Shows a lot of pride of ownership. Wish the living room opened out onto the patio. The wood counter tops in the kitchen and bath are a minor drawback.

Super location and really unique home. But could use some major updating and a deep cleaning.

The location of the house is perfect! Beach front and very close to the stairs leading down to the beach. But the inside could use a major makeover and updating. At the least a deep cleaning.

Lovely week-long getaway

Stayed here with the family for a week-long getaway after memorial day and the house has an amazing location right on the beach, was super clean, and although it has a quirky style is perfectly livable and charming. Would absolutely stay here again.
